Another note on the Lumity hints in this episode: From previous episodes, we can confidently assume Amity knew the day Luz would be starting school, and who's the first person Luz runs into? Amity, using her Abomination to carry her books. It's already been established that abomination conjuring is currently the strongest spell in her arsenal. Considering it's impractical to have an abomination hold books because of its wet texture, I think it was an improvised plan to flex on her crush.
When in the newest episodes Luz just said but not showed how epic but complicated her school day is, i couldnt help but think "This Show does not know what's interesting about itself". And i stand to that. Show must improve, i say.
I am getting a feeling that Luz's actions won't just parallel Eda's actions, but it will mess up the order of the Boiling Isles to such as extent that it will then lead to war for the freedom of this misterious island.

Didn't he say, and I'm just paraphrasing here, "there was another student who wanted to learn all the tracks." Cue Lord Calamity face reveal (Eda). And he said it all with a sorta sad tone of voice.
About Bump bending the roles; I think that he changed his mind for Luz Mainly because he owed her for saving the school from a basilisk, but also to see what a human can really do if given the chance at learning all there is in his school. Remember; this is the same guy that moved Willow to the Plant Track after watching her strut her stuff in Luz’s defense, and he knows Eda on a personal-ish level who vouches for her, but above all his main reason for letting Luz enroll was because he believed it would have proved beneficial learning experience for his school to teach a human magic. So a believe it isn’t so much out of character for him to prioritize his students above all.

One thing I noticed about Bump is when he mentions Eda is the only other student who even considered talking all the tracks but never got the chance, he has a noticeable frown on his face as he says it. By Eda's uniform she was also in the potions track like Luz was at the start of the episode. I believe Bump recognizes that by forcing Eda on that track it caused her to rebel against the system, ultimately causing her to drop out, which deprived a talented witch of the best possible magical education. Seeing Luz has a similar inquisitive mind (and why wouldn't she as Eda's apprentice) he's not about to make the same mistake. As for ignoring the rules, I don't think he is because he says "No one does that" when Luz suggests it, not "you can't do that" I think that means you can STUDY multiple types of magic but its a subpar option since you can only join one coven which leaves you only with USE of one magic, making studying more then 1 track a waste and a suboptimal use of learning time.

Ok so I feel like the principle is human... hear me out he covers his ears so they won’t know he’s human and he seems like he has a soft spot for luz by letting her study all the covens and the fact he let her in the school since she’s human...I don’t I might be overthinking 😅
9:20 - I am pretty sure studying multiple types of magics is okay to some degree, I mean Willow studied Abomination magic first then changed tracks. If changing tracks is fine, then studying multiple tracks has to also be fine, as what's stopping you from just switching tracks each semester to learn all tracks? I'd imagine it's more of a "You're supposed to choose one to focus on and then after school decide to lock yourself into that coven" rather than a "You're not supposed to study anything other than just one type of magic ever"
My assumption is that they can study multiple tracks as long as they only pick one coven. Maybe he restricts his students to one course of study as a matter of school policy just to make it easier for them to master one branch and pick a coven without the fear that they chose the wrong one. Viney would probably be torn between the healing and beast keeping covens, for example, but if she had selected one track early on and stuck to it then the natural and instinctive choice would be to pick that coven. It's overly restrictive but maybe he views it as a kindness.
I remember what uncle iroh said "It is important to gain wisdom from many places, for if you only take it from one side it becomes regied and stale" So the principal should let the students be on multiple tracks
Magic tracks in school, are not Covens. They line up with the 9 main covens, but they aren’t permanent, and possibly not regulated. A witch must join one of the covens by the time they’re an adult. Until then, they can learn anything. They can even change tracks each new year, and probably witches aiming for the Emperor’s Coven would need to take all 9 tacks, over time. Now, does the Emperor expect singular magic study? Probably. But I think the school has leeway to teach as they wish, at risk of funding.
I figured the only reason Luce was able to convince bump to allow mixed magic is because so many students before her complained about it to the point where he's had enough of dealing with trouble makers and it means less work for him.
Principal Bump is pretty interesting to me. I mean, as a child he literally led a full-blown assualt on a school, burnt it to the ground and built a new one on the remains. I always kind of assumed that he used to be a troublemaker too but many hundreds of years of being an authority figure and having to deal with other troublemakers like Eda have mellowed him out. He's clearly not as indoctrinated to the Emperor's Coven as Lilith since he's willing to make secret deals with Eda without their knowledge. As for his power within the school... well, the school inspector the Coven sent turned out to be a Basilisk so I guess he thinks he can use that as leverage to get the funding he wanted and be able to put the multi-track students in a blindspot at least until a new inspection occurs (and given we don't know the full extent on how the education system works in the Boiling Isles, the next inspection might not be until after the Detention Track kids graduate and are forced into single-magic covens anyway).
Yeah, a lot of people just sort of assume he's bad because he's in a position of authority. But if you take his word at face value that he is "a principal, not a stooge" then it's easy to make sense of his actions. Also, he technically isn't breaking the law by allowing multi-track study. While I'm sure there's a legal deadline for a witch to choose a coven, moving students around tracks prior to that is permitted.
My biggest wish: that disney is preparing an endgame with all these new cartoons, and the source of conflict could be the disaster that star butterfly caused by get rid of the magic, anne, luz and the pines twins must fix the situation...
....... wow... actually if at the end-all of the worlds mushed into a whole caboodle of strangeness wouldn't Phineas and Ferb know about it? since it's confirmed their in the same universe
Well, Tracks are not Covens, It can’t hurt to study multiple magic tracks because they are still going to have to pick a Coven, in fact being able to study multiple tracks might help witches know which coven they want to be on.
Well, considering once they join a coven, all other magical abilities are stripped away, I don't think it can be seen as a threat. They have to choose eventually and once they do, that's it. Only one set of magical abilities. So learning more then once would be seen as a no problem
Theory: Principal bump is actually punishing the mixed students by letting them study multiple tracks but by doing that they would be chased by the law in the end
I've been asking myself what Coven I would choose ever since watching "The First Day". I think either Beast Keeping, Healing, Oracle or Illusion. Beast Keeping: I love animals Healing: I wanna be helpful and I think healing is the best option for that Oracle: So mysterious! Illusion: So many interesting uses for those spells!
I'm so hoping for Lumity!! Also as for Bump's 180 on multiple tracks, he may just figure 'If their going to do it at least it will be under supervision'. Where the detention track 3 were learning on their own then mixing those magics. They're now learning from teachers of both (all in Luz's case) tracks, will know how to properly do magic of those Covens. Which make's sense do you want someone learning 2 tracks, then mixing them on their own. Or having them be taught in a class by professionals who know how the magic is supposed to work, what can go wrong before it's mixed.
7:36 - 7:41 : I believe that actually be one of TWO possible conclusions. 1) Being the more popular Luz-Amity 😍 dynamic with her voicing to herself about having Luz in the same school as her... OR... 🤔 2) Amity trying to convince herself that now that Luz is in the same school along with Willow, nothing changed between them. Since she sees Luz as a "sorta-friend" doesn't make them "sorta-friends" again. This may come up again when the episode focusing on Willow airs. 😉 Anyone think this scene might be a bit subversive to the second conclusion? Let your opinion be known... respectively, of course. ✌😎
Its also possible shes concerned about luz being there... as luz often gets amity into trouble... she prides herself on her good greats and status as a top student... and now a troublemaker that keeps getting her into trouble is at the school... at least its a bit more believable that a ship between them.
Disney better not pull a voltron and screw this ship up... so much potential and true chemistry only for them to either end them not being together. Their relationship with one another is so organic and healthy, the love amity has for love is so precious and how they started as friends only to develop to something more can show and normalize healthy lgbt relationships for modern kids in today’s shows. Who cares if a bunch of people don’t agree with it, lgbt relationships are everywhere in real life and can’t hide it from yourself or any kid. That’d be like shows hiding straight ships, you see it in real life
there's a huge difference for covens and tracks if anyone didn't know it's alright I didn't know too Tracks-basically mini covens you only study them at school and can choose what coven you want to be and you are only allowed to study one but you don't get your magic sealed away like an actual coven Coven-you have to join these by the law as seen in convention that kid joined the illusion coven so im guessing you can join them whenever you want your magic is sealed away (maybe permanantly0 because there can be no stronger witches than the emperor's coven
I think bard could be like controlling minds with music like a siren for example making people fall in love with someone by playing a harp or getting someone angry by playing guitar but with magic, Making it be able to have a use in battle and entertainment.
Music magic is a recurring class in rpg games usually it can heal, recover stamina, put you to sleep or awaken, you can also regain additional turn after use a song in fire emblem, sonic/sound attacks, holy/auria using enchanted auria can be used to fight demons and ghost using enchanted lyrics and phrases from the bible/holy texts.
Bard, Plant , Illusion, Oracle, Beast Keeping, Construction, Healing, Abomination, Potion…… Long ago, all nine covens lived together in hormony, until the abomination track attacked! Only Luz, the trouble-maker can learn in all nine covens and save the school of Hexside! (I don't know if it is the exact line, this episode just reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender and I'm too lazy to search) (Also, I made the abomination track the enemy because Amity reminds me of Zuko)
Bard magic is definitely all in the arts because in the episode "Lost in Language" we see that the library's curators are all wearing red uniforms with the harp symbol.
I ship Lumity as friends for now, but if they become more than that I will be very happy. I only say this because I don’t want to get my hopes up if they don’t happen.
For me, it's just, when having two people fall in love, you have the characters be romantically interested in one another, and be FORWARD about. For now i just don't see that between Luz and Amity. It's best for this season to have them buildup their friendship first. Then in the second season, you can then have them culminate.
JustAnotherGeek You sure you want that? The fever, and hype surrounding Grom, is huge. So I’m afraid that if lumity doesn’t happen, then the fandom’s gonna tweet harmful posts at Dana.
I also thought that Principal Bump changed his mind a little too quickly. They could have shown him being more impacted by the students use of mixed magic to save his life and everyone else's if that's what did it for him.
Bump probably will try to justify allowing multiple track study by saying they will eventually have to pick a coven. I think he actually wants to do what's best for his students, just usually thinks the rules are the best way to do that until proven otherwise.
I just assume tracks and covens are different things. Since they say joining a coven specifically *prevents* you from being able to cast different types of magic, but the students are still able to. So the whole "no magic outside your tack" thing might not be an official law, it might just reflect poorly on a school's policies if kids study multiple covens.
Another note on the Lumity hints in this episode: From previous episodes, we can confidently assume Amity knew the day Luz would be starting school, and who's the first person Luz runs into? Ah don't worry about Luz,I have faith. As long as she doesn't overwork and overwhelm herself, she'll be ok.
The real question is... how will she even learn magic in the first place... as she cant cast spells like normal witches but needs glyphs to do so... what good would a class do for her anyways?
lumity be loving friendship canon entire episode . but Luz always she going be crush amity so much love.
Luz: **buys 62 notebooks**
Rando: wtf-
Ok so I feel like the principle is human... hear me out he covers his ears so they won’t know he’s human and he seems like he has a soft spot for luz by letting her study all the covens and the fact he let her in the school since she’s human...I don’t I might be overthinking 😅
if time works differently in the boiling isles then he possibly could be somehow related to Luz........... just throwing it out there
the title aged perfectly
how dare you say that Boscha sucks???
"Does Amity have a crush on Luz?" uh. Hello? x)
What when??!
WHEN WAS THAT
If you guys are questioning about the Luz and Aminity ship. Yes It's in episode 12
2:59
I suppose the divination coven is a bit focused on necromancy (summoning the dead to see the future)
I love that one of the signed names on the wall is Sabrina....because Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Wait wait wait
GUYS
AMITY IS VOICED BY THE SAME PERSON THAT DID KATARA IN ATLA
FREAKING EPIC
Narrator: "She was"
My assumption is that they can study multiple tracks as long as they only pick one coven.
Lumity is confirmed after the grom episode 🎉🎊🎉
I think the bard track powers would be like using music to manipulate the opponents mind to get them to do what they want or confuse them
I remember what uncle iroh said
"It is important to gain wisdom from many places, for if you only take it from one side it becomes regied and stale"
So the principal should let the students be on multiple tracks
Magic tracks in school, are not Covens. They line up with the 9 main covens, but they aren’t permanent, and possibly not regulated. A witch must join one of the covens by the time they’re an adult. Until then, they can learn anything. They can even change tracks each new year, and probably witches aiming for the Emperor’s Coven would need to take all 9 tacks, over time. Now, does the Emperor expect singular magic study? Probably. But I think the school has leeway to teach as they wish, at risk of funding.
me realizing you called amity mittens: *SHOOK*
Hope in the next episode,we learn why she's called Mittens
@@hyena234thekids7 yepp uwu Amit(tens)
i forgot Amity's name once while in a 'fanenby rant' and accidentally said mittens
Me: * Laughs in Grom*
We were already told what bard track is. It’s magical music that can do different things.
This aged well
Ikr
*laughs in Grom and Wing it Like Witches*
I can tell you RIGHT now thats its not ‘shipping bait’ lol
*me watching this months after it was originally released knowing full well amity likes luz* hmmmm interesting
7:31 best moment of the episode
Amity is crushing on Luz CONFIRMED
I litterally love Lumity so freaking much!!!
I've been watching a bunch of clips of this show and I finally understand Luz's multi-colored outfit.
Noone:
Amity: *gay panics*
Me: yes
Oh wait i have another joke
Dana: How many gay panics do you want Amity to have?
Me: yes
Me seeing this after Understand Willow, Grom, and Wing it Like Witches was released: Honey, you’ve got a big Lumity storm coming
I just watched ep 16 and 17. Yep, Amity definitely likes her.
The oracle spirit looks like a stand from Jojo’s bizarre adventures
AND THEN THE GROM EPISODE CAME
ITS TOTALLY BECOMING CANON
Well, Tracks are not Covens, It can’t hurt to study multiple magic tracks because they are still going to have to pick a Coven, in fact being able to study multiple tracks might help witches know which coven they want to be on.
i love Barkus, he looks cool and i can relate to him, and plus I love animals.
I love ya Whitney! I was losing my mind over over all the world building this episode! Barkus is my new favorite character of all time!
Well, considering once they join a coven, all other magical abilities are stripped away, I don't think it can be seen as a threat. They have to choose eventually and once they do, that's it. Only one set of magical abilities.
So learning more then once would be seen as a no problem
It has been confirmed that Amity indeed does have a crush on Luz
Theory: Principal bump is actually punishing the mixed students by letting them study multiple tracks but by doing that they would be chased by the law in the end
I've been asking myself what Coven I would choose ever since watching "The First Day".
I think either Beast Keeping, Healing, Oracle or Illusion.
Beast Keeping: I love animals
Healing: I wanna be helpful and I think healing is the best option for that
Oracle: So mysterious!
Illusion: So many interesting uses for those spells!
The benefit of potions track is i think if you complete it... you can start a potions buisness. Just like eda... except she didnt finish hexside.
i guess yes, thanks to amity got emotions for luz in so many ways XD, good day
the answer of this title is *YES*
I'm so hoping for Lumity!! Also as for Bump's 180 on multiple tracks, he may just figure 'If their going to do it at least it will be under supervision'. Where the detention track 3 were learning on their own then mixing those magics. They're now learning from teachers of both (all in Luz's case) tracks, will know how to properly do magic of those Covens. Which make's sense do you want someone learning 2 tracks, then mixing them on their own. Or having them be taught in a class by professionals who know how the magic is supposed to work, what can go wrong before it's mixed.
Well, we got our answer.
i like watching old videos of luamity bc i can see how wrong or right people were
7:36 - 7:41 : I believe that actually be one of TWO possible conclusions.
1) Being the more popular Luz-Amity 😍 dynamic with her voicing to herself about having Luz in the same school as her... OR... 🤔
2) Amity trying to convince herself that now that Luz is in the same school along with Willow, nothing changed between them. Since she sees Luz as a "sorta-friend" doesn't make them "sorta-friends" again. This may come up again when the episode focusing on Willow airs. 😉
Anyone think this scene might be a bit subversive to the second conclusion? Let your opinion be known... respectively, of course. ✌😎
Its also possible shes concerned about luz being there... as luz often gets amity into trouble... she prides herself on her good greats and status as a top student... and now a troublemaker that keeps getting her into trouble is at the school... at least its a bit more believable that a ship between them.
12:13 OOH IS IT THAT ONE THING WITH THE OWL CURSE??
Eda's hair looked really nice when she was younger
no. it was not bait by any means
Is it just me or douse the person on the illusions banner look like Gus and the person on the bar track banner looks like principal bump
OI!! Basilisks are NOT just a Harry Potter thing, it MIGHT be a reference to Harry Potter or it might not be, Plenty of mythology has basilisks.
1:28 There's a paper on the stamp board that says *"BILL"*
hmmmm I wonder...🤔
I’m not sure if your Serious or not, but a Bill is something you have to pay.
@@BM-ts1yi or it could also mean a reference to a certain Triangle Demon from another dimension.
@@raven3067 Uhh I guess..?
have you ever heard of a bill
@@user-rl4yd5td8l Have you ever heard of Bill Cipher?
After wing it like witches: oh yeah, amity definitely likes luz-
Disney better not pull a voltron and screw this ship up... so much potential and true chemistry only for them to either end them not being together. That’d be like shows hiding straight ships, you see it in real life
there's a huge difference for covens and tracks if anyone didn't know it's alright I didn't know too
Tracks-basically mini covens you only study them at school and can choose what coven you want to be and you are only allowed to study one but you don't get your magic sealed away like an actual coven
Coven-you have to join these by the law as seen in convention that kid joined the illusion coven so im guessing you can join them whenever you want your magic is sealed away (maybe permanantly0 because there can be no stronger witches than the emperor's coven
Bard, Plant , Illusion, Oracle, Beast Keeping, Construction, Healing, Abomination, Potion……
Long ago, all nine covens lived together in hormony, until the abomination track attacked!
Only Luz, the trouble-maker can learn in all nine covens and save the school of Hexside!
(I don't know if it is the exact line, this episode just reminds me of Avatar: The Last Airbender and I'm too lazy to search)
(Also, I made the abomination track the enemy because Amity reminds me of Zuko)
I think they absolutely crammed a lot into the episode, and I'm just so glad I'm not the only lumity theorist.
Hey, there's always fanfiction if it doesn't become canon, right?
JustAnotherGeek You sure you want that? The fever, and hype surrounding Grom, is huge. So I’m afraid that if lumity doesn’t happen, then the fandom’s gonna tweet harmful posts at Dana.
i feel like luz only sees amity as a friend for now but starts to likr her
I also thought that Principal Bump changed his mind a little too quickly.
This shipping is *awesome and cute*
Hopefully, we can see more of these two interact some more in future episodes.
From what I understand, tracks only exist to prepare you for the coven you want to join. Its 100% bad school policy
