You are best of re-routing the cable like I did. That back cable is easy if you just reroute it via a drill hole in bulkhead.

Great vid, thanks for posting. How do you release the plastic joiner between the two cables please? I have to do this on a 2016 Skoda Yeti, bought both cables new genuine and they look exactly the same as yours where they fit together. Thanks again!

Can i ask what the oval grommet is called that you held around 4 minutes 10 in the video please . Mine needs replacing as im getting water in the drivers footwell , and i feel this could be the problem .. TIA

Its more of a foam insert which goes into the wing so unlikely to be your problem. If you pause the video you might be able to make out the part number, or go to your nearest TPS centre and show them the car or video and it will be a few quid at most for a new one

The old one is no longer in the car, how do install it, without using the old one?

Use some nylon wire/ rope and tie the new one to it then pull it through

You don't need to run it the old route. You can just drill a hole in bulkhead and pass it through then down into the grommet. The cable sheath takes up the cable slack so all you need to do is find a route. That's all ice just done.

@@fakevirus8828 my local garage did that work around because of the faff but now the cable is too slack because of the shortened length with the ad-hoc hole.
So that doesn't work, unless you then move the bonnet release catch further down..
Which tightens the cable but pulls your bonnet out of alignment.
So in summary, fix it the correct way, the way it was designed to be operated, otherwise it's just a domino effect and your otherwise nice looking car starts looking like a cocked bin.
To think i paid the clowns and now have to fix it myself!
I usually do all the work on my car because of this latest botched job.
      Never again.

You don't need to, you can just reroute the cable.
