Question: Fortunately I can pop open my hood by using needle nose down at the lever inside the vehicle. The pull handle got loose all of a sudden and more force is needed to pop the hood. I believe the issue is in the little box. Perhaps the plastic wall is broken. I ordered a new cable and it just looks like I have the part that goes from the grill to the box. I'm not 100 percent sure but it looks like I remove the grill, take off the 2 screws and remove the lower hood latch, then discard the old half of the cable and join the new cable with the old somehow. My new cable is a doorman so the box part is different but I think I take the ball from the old cable that goes down into the jetta and join it to the new cable that goes to the hood latch. Can't find a video of anyone doing this but please let me know if you think I'm on the right track.
