Here's a rhythm guitar lesson on How to play Davidian by Machine Head. Back in the '90s this song rocked (and it still does). Dropped B tuning, brutal riffs and one of the best breaks in the history of metal.
The lesson on the Solo is coming up real soon!
Check out the cover as well - • Machine Head - Davidia...
You tuned a tremolo equipped guitar to this weird tuning just for this lesson? That's commitment man. Thanks for all that you do!
As a guitar player with only 1 guitar and that guitar is equipped with a Floyd Rose bridge I definitely feel this comment lol. It actually becomes easier to alternate between tunings when you have done so several times (especially on the same guitar), you get a better feel for it and it becomes easier and easier each time. Depending on how different the tunings are obviously, for instance if you’re switching between standard tuning, 1/2 step down (Eb) or D tuning and D standard then the adjustments you need to make on the springs and the machine heads isn’t that much of a leap. When you go farther down to C and B tunings is when it becomes a real pain to make all the adjustments each time you go back and forth. Sorry for the long comment but it’s actually been a big point of focus for me lately having just gotten back into guitar and stupidly picked a Floyd Rose equipped guitar as the main guitar I was able to finally afford again. I was bummed at first but now I’m kind of glad because it’s just another skill I am getting better at. Plus once you stretch the shit out of the strings several times then lock the nut it stays in tune much longer than a non Floyd Rose equipped guitar.
Yeah no joke dude I gotta Kramer FR that I gotta put new strings on and I’m still playing my schecter😂
Awesome job explaining every riff in detail. This is one song i've always wanted to put into my arsenal . It's so sweet you included the correct tuning. Thanks!
here..let me make the tuning issue easier. It is dropped c tuning. However...the reference is not 440hz....it's 432hz.
yes is 432
If anyone have a hard time finding that sweet spot for the 40 cent sharp tuning: If your tuner has a Hertz setting where you can adjust the Hertz, instead pf putting it in 440Hz like you normally would, you put it to 480Hz. Hence the "40 cent sharp".
Basically the concert or chamber pitch has to be adjusted. It used to be in standard A 440Hz. Keep in my mind if u would like to play this with a band all instruments must change the concert pitch.

40 cents sharp from 440 Hz is exactly 450.28451247858146 Hz...
I saw Machine Head live in London, over a year ago. It was incredibly loud!
Lmao
Just found your channel. One of my favorite Machine Head songs, great structured video and thanks for putting in all that effort. Now it is time to tune my guitar down 🤟🏻🤟🏻. Saw them live in 2019 in Munich.. I have a great video from this song on my channel (got blocked in Germany 🇩🇪) .. so I didn‘t over exaggerated when I said this was one of my favorite MH songs .. god bless Metal
Really cool lesson, thanks. Had problems with the tremolo riff now I can play it no problem.
Excellent lesson! Thanks very much, so much notes i didnt noticed !
Fantastic lesson! I was going to try to figure out that break tonight. Now I don't have to.
This track is so brutal!!!!!!!! *Great job at doing this cover!* I'm in process of making a video dedicated to the tone they have but you can come very close to how you did it! Great work! Loved this video and I think this was my 3rd time coming.... late on commenting. Lol!
I love you man! :)
you are a great teacher.....please upload more metal videos! :)
You’re awesome and an amazing teacher
the guitar effect sounds great
awesome job man
Tenx for the great lesson, much appreciated. I did a cover, hope I got the just of it.
Thank you. Please do Purple Haze solo next!
Thanks!
Great job!!
great lesson
great video, thx alot!
thanks for the lesson
thank you so much... helped me so much
Awesome man, how bout doing some more AIC. I'm starting a cover band and I've used your videos to help missing parts. Can you do I can't Remember
*Can someone please clarify what the bloody tuning is on this album please!?. Cherry Lane's official tablature book transcribed Burn My Eyes in D standard and drop D, people say that it is lower in hertz? and some people say it is in B and now C#?. The link or reference to where Robb Flynn talks about the tuning please.*
Awesome, i agree that is the best break, Heavy Chugg in history :-)
Hell yes!!!
Thanks!
i think the harmonics of the first riff are both played on the 7th fret, one string higher each tone (saw it in a live video in slow mo).
5th fret harmonic of 2nd and 3rd strings are the same notes, but easier to play
En ambas opciones estás tocando las mismas notas....
Both options are the same notes, so u can play what you prefer....
@@Tomasandia Rob even showed it in an old lesson video, explaining that it can be played on both positions but he prefers to do it on the high strings.
cool. what guage of strings you using man?
It's good and correct! But I played it in drop D, it's better. Thank You Alex!
Thank you!!!
Hello. Can you upload your guitar rig preset? Please.
Awesome job man:)this song is real badass:)why you not play all song?I subscribe right now:)salute from Poland:)
Mariusz Szych Thanks, man! I do covers of most of the songs that I teach on my other channel - ua-cam.com/users/sandobg
Awesome dude I want to learn this so could I do a Skype lesson.
Rob doesn’t do the harmonics on the fifth fret, he does them on the seventh since it doesn’t sound as wound. He’s talked about it before.
What is the effect?
dude how to get the lessons?
Hello! 6-string to which note dropped? To D or C?
Dude you look like a Vampire version of Paul Gilbert. Cheers for vid as well btw :)
Paul and I are actually born on the same date (different year, though)
I've seen a lot of tabs playing this song in drop D also
Yeah, that's not right though. A lot of tabs are in E standard too, but I think it's just because the tabber figures as long as the guitar is in tune with itself it's ok. Hell I just learned this one tuned to drop C#.
*Cherry Lane's official Burn My Eyes tab book was transcribed in D standard and Drop D*
Cool. Sankyu
I like a lot the outro...
drop c or c#
nice! can you tell what humbucker, amp and distortion you use? Awesome sound man...
The pick ups are stock and for the sound I use a Plug In "Guitar Rig". Thanks!
guitar rig means an app? „iRig“ or what is behind „guitar rig“, could you be a little more precise, I would appreciate it...
It's a computer program. Check this video out, it might help you - ua-cam.com/video/SxLLuT1YidE/v-deo.html
The song is in DImebag drop tuning but dropped C instead of D standard
awesome sound !! whats the JS model ?
It's the first model - 100. Thanks!
Please do Halo!
Sadly the main riff is wrong, Rob doesn't play it like that, the harmonics are on 7 G&D
Proof: ua-cam.com/video/zC3TbUH-4Go/v-deo.html
What gauge strings ?
+Thiago Carvalho I think I used 9's
11 57s work well for thease drop songs. Just putting that out there:)
you are right: 3,4 and 1, 2 NOT 1, 3! :) The haters are deaf... or subborn and or have little expirience.
and i am confused about the tuning :/
Just listen carefully in the beginning, I explain everything in detail.
40 cents sharp from 440 Hz is exactly 450.28451247858146 Hz...
what's the outfit
20:06
*Nice lesson & playing, but your tone sounds a little too ' Djenty ' for me, This album has a terrifying old school* *Thrash Metal crossing early Fear Factory Pantera tone.*
Hi, just wanted to share this. Its just a standard drop C tuning, but they set there tuners to 432Hz instead of 440. Google it on why you SHOULD do that ! It resonates better with everything in this univers ;)
Put your tuner on 432Hz, then tune to drop C and you'll see that its exactly the same as there tuning ;)
good luck, have fun
Dude, I'm on to cover this song and I tried a lot of settings and I also found 432hz with Dropped C sounds just right! Nice.
I call'em riff M, riff F and riff H
Can I do a Skype lesson
sound is exactly the same as the original track
What’s the point in learning this in the wrong tuning 👎🏻
play more,, don't talk...lol
Your harmonics are wrong
good job dude!
