"Worlds STRONGEST Fishing Knot!?!?
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 сер 2024
- The Palomar Knot is widely considered the strongest fishing knot.
Though there are many tests which prove there are a few in this category, the Palomar seems to be one of the more versatile ones and most importantly, easy to tie.
I use this knot especially in cold weather where my fingers lose dexterity.
It's great for adding a dropper and works well on braid, mono and any other line!

This. This is what credibiltiy is.
Truly glorious, I say

Don't forget to gently kiss it like it's your soul mate
then embrace nature eat the hook and jump into water
@@truelich1231 _💀_
I may start doing this because I’ve bent more hooks than busted my line and lost my lure.
@@pradiptasahana2032Where did you get a tilted skull emoji?
@@pradiptasahana2032what the fuck
My electrical extension cord does this by itself.
😂
This knot works great for tying fishing line... I'm 57 and I've been tying it since I was a kid... Back in the 70's, Eagle Claw fishing hooks use to have the directions for tying it printed on their packages...
Awesome
Been using the palomar knot for decades, never had one fail.
So I tied one on my frog jig but I’m not sure if I did it right bc it slips with mono line but braided it didn’t seem too
@@creekflow7670don’t use mono. Use either Fluoro or braid. Mono is very stretchy and slippery
Palomar is the best braided line knot and a sub par mono knot.
@@mattanderson4339 what’s the best mono knot? I use mono most the time and my Palomar keeps slipping.
@@CamsFishingandTipsdon’t overthink mono. Clinch or improved clinch. Done.
Easy to understand and very good production quality
Thanks Axel
@@TheBearEssentialslove the tongue kiss you gave it for good luck :) 📈📈
Now battle it with the trilene knot to see which is the ultimate knot
I've been using this knot for hooks and lures for as long as I can remember. Simple yet effective. No need to over complicate it with some fancy knots.
I agree the same. I fished alot when I was younger with my late ex stepfather but as an adult I gave up fishing but recently just picked it back up. I try doing other knots but it takes me forever and end up not catching anything or losing the rig cause of bad knot tying makes not want to fish. The last time I went I nearly spent an hour setting up a flicker minnow just for it get tangled up on its self and in my frustration I end smacking it on the dock destroying it.
@jamesrobinson1022 Not to mention, all the effort to not catch a damn thing. Back in my teens and early twenties, I did fish more frequently. However, the reward to effort ratio was depressing for me. Since my late twenties and now in my late thirties, most of my efforts have gone into hunting, foraging, and target shooting. If I do any fishing, it's only be for eating. I'll set up several *yo-yo reels and go occupy myself either with my Ruger 1022 and some targets or go foraging for wild edibles in the woods with occasionally checking to see if anything is caught on the yo-yo reels.
*Yo-yo reels are legal to use in my state.
It’s my favorite knot for two reasons. First I suck at tying knots and it’s easy to remember. Second is its strength. Great easy to understand video.
I was practising this for a while from this video. And went fishing, and didn't want to look stupid so got there and made it look easy. Thanks.
The first video that appear when I searched fishing knots lol. It'll be my first time going deep sea fishing off of Newport beach. I will definitely be using this knot. Thanks for the easy to understand video.
This is a great knot for people with arthritis in their hands and poor vision like I have. Thank you for making the video. I can do it by touch....
My dad taught me this knot fishing when i was growing up. It's key to make sure the loop ends up on top of the knot. It doesn't always like to sit up when you tighten
Learned this the hard way when I lost a pretty decent fish 😂
I've only just found this channel but HAD to subscribe after just seeing the "constrictor knot". Thank you for solving my problems. Bless you all. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Use this knot for years, never disappointed me. My go to know for a lot of fishing ends
If I had a dollar for every time someone said a certain knot was best for fishing I’d be retired.
This is a Palomar knot and on fluorocarbon line it isn’t good for heavier lures. The line will eventually cut through itself; after multiple casts the line will snap and the lure will continue on…or when a really big fish tugs on it after some fatigue it will snap. Excellent on braided line and mono isn’t as problematic but it will fatigue like the Fluoro line after awhile. Anyways, for Fluorocarbon a jam knot or clinch knot is best like a double pitzen knot or San Diego jam knot.
I appreciate anyone who can talk trash on someone's misuse of a knot.
That's why fluro isn't that great. Just use mono for leaders and you can save some money and have a better knot.
I came to the comments to leave this, should've known it was already here. I really like this for braid, but that's it. Too many tight bends for anything else. Fluoro I use the Uni and it's awesome. Single uni is good for 30+ lb anything under that I do the double uni. Double seems to keep it from cutting into itself. Mono I just do a single uni doesn't seem to be nearly as finicky.
I’ve never had this problem occur to me though I have never used large Swimbaits
@@CarsonHornbuckle-mt3nz yea I didn’t have issues until I was throwing 1/2oz and up lures with palomar knots - only on fluorocarbon line. After around 1-3 hours or so if casting the knot/line would just snap and bye bye lure. Also after a day of catching bigger fish with smaller lures (cats and 3-4lb bass) the Fluorocarbon line would end up snapping while bringing a fish in. Took awhile and some internet searching to find several pros mentioning this issue and their recommendation to switch to clinch/jam knots. Since I switched the problem has gone away. Still my go to knot for braid.
The Palomar knot isn't bad. It's easy to teach new fisherman. I used exclusively for decades. I've since moved on to the Uni Knot.
The Palomar was the first knot my pop taught me when he taught me how to fish, and it was the only knot I needed to know.
I still use it now, but only on braided line; on really thin 8-10lb mono/fluoro it tends to burn the line(even soaking wet) and make it weak so i use a fisherman's knot instead.
My favorite knot for fishing. Simple fast and super strong.
This is a great knot and one of the easier not that works flawless.
If you are in grass/algae areas the tag line facing forward will catch and tear the grass. I use a DOA loop knot, which is a weaker knot (has never failed for me) but the tag end faces the bait, which is great.
This is the only knot i have used since i was like 10. Still the best in my book. Inshore, off shore, bluegill bass or shark. This is my knot.
It’s the only knot I tie for fishing and it’s simple. You’ll break off and have to retie, with this knot you’ll be back fishing very fast.
Facts! I use this knot on all my fishing hooks it has never failed. The line will break before the knot every time. I recommend using this knot
I never thought about adding a second hook to the tail... Thanks
Thank you so much for this video you don’t know how much it helped me. I’ve been trying to find a knot to tie my Ariel silk. Thank you
Thanks
just spent god knows how long with this on repeat. tying this cutting it and retying it again. had it the first time with some difficulty but now i feel confident going out and doing it. hopefully it works because i almost lost a lure today with the uni knot. drove home soaking wet
My step father taught me this knot when I was a young child, definitely the strongest knot I’ve ever used for fishing !
I first saw the instructions on tying this knot on the back of Rooster Tail spinners when I was a kid...probably at least 45 years ago. :-)
Worked really good on monofilament line with those spinners on an ultralight rig.
Already wet it..but got thirsty
Lol! this gave me a good chuckle
Or too much water he's just sucking away the extra water.
😂! Or just showing an alternative method. Just don't get careless and hook your face!
Did he forget he was recording and thought his bf was around?
I have using this knot for over 50 years. Great Knot
Ive been fishing 30 years and tried every knott and this is the gods honest truth.... the strongest knot is the one you take your time on, tie neat and cleanly, and the one you lubricate and the one you feel comfortable with. The top 5 knots are all very strong it's about quality
I love learning about tying knots.
Me too!
Really nice knot, even for non-fishers like me. Thanks!
Been using this knot for over 30 years. If tied right it'll never fail
Using the polymer knot for well over a decade. An older man at the pier taught it to me, increased the number of fish I caught and my line rarely ever breaks at the knot....use, and will always use it...
The Palomar knot is my favorite knot I've never seen a tide like that interestingly enough I always just made a double line with the triple loop technique and then use the Palomar at the end I like the way that he did that believe it or not that's actually slick The Palomar in the Bimini knot are the only two 100% untiable knots. When he said it's considered to be one of the strongest knots I immediately thought that it was the Palomar until I saw him tying it and I said no that can't be right and then after the second loop he made I immediately knew that I was actually right it was the Palomar
Hamlin’s Fishing Bible has a fantastic selection of instructionals for different types of fishing line and equipment.
This knowledgeable is so passable, yet sooooo important and practical. I may never need to make one but know it's important to know
Best fishing knot ever!
Been tying this knot for 30 years! 👍🏽👍🏽
That has been my goto fishing knot my entire 60 years. Except I don’t pass it through initially a single strand then back again. Just double it up and push it through the eyelet. Takes out one unnecessary step.
Big brain energy as the kids say.
Palomar and the FG knots are King! Followed by double uni and bimini knots. In my opinion.
This type of skills should be taught in school
I was going to send this to my boyfriend because he loves fishing, but this is the knot he uses every time already 😅
I learned this knot 45 years ago and is is even stronger than the line itself as tested on a tensile tester!!!
Once I learned this knot 10 years ago I've never looked back.
Matthew 4:19❤
Very informative with clear instructions!
Thanks😊
This help me so much this was a lifesaver thank you and I respect your work
yo tysm for helping me bc usally my dad ties it for me but now i know how to tie
Done this since a kneehigh, never knew the name!
Turns out I am very interested in knots. I even used one of the knots on these videos the other day. I felt like a survivalist or an 18th century sailor.
I love this channel he is giving people such good information
Me who has no eyes on his fishing hooks: "Very useful"
The first knot I was taught was the hangman’s knot. I still use it even till this day. It doesn’t lose fish as much or breaks a line just bent hooks.
I learned this knot when I was about 7-8, this is the first time I’ve ever heard it’s name. Only ever heard of it being the “fisherman’s knot” lol
I usually use the Palomar knot on lures or I'll use a loop knot so it can have free movement for better action. For tying two lines together, like putting a leader of monofilament onto your braid, use the FG knot. It's the best knot in the world for that application. Finally, it's really hard to be the improved clinch knot for tying hooks and jigs onto your line.
This is a good knot. Buy the strongest knot is the San Diego Jam Knot. It is used for catching sharks and grouper.
Perfect, thank you for posting this helpful video!
Paloma’s knot. That’s my fave for catfish rigs but I snell the hook
I love this knot and use it for almost all my lures
This is the first knot I’ve seen on here I actually learned how to tie as a kid
Been using this knot since the 80's
Beautiful video
I always used this with a Texas rig when bass fishing
I liked the on the chick tied that also required wetting.
One of the knots i learned when i was a wee young lad
Seen videos of pro fisherman saying not to use this on floro because the strength comes from the knot biting it's self which weakens floro and makes it break more easily
Good knot Jonny
Going to utilize this Saturday. ❤
This is the knot my stepfather passed down to me. Quickest and strongest knot IMO
Thank you for sharing
Great knot!!!
Oh snap thank you!! I love fishing im just no expert😅 can’t wait to try this simple yet effective knot
Been using this for a long time !! It’s the strongest for fishing line (not to break )
That's Uncle Kevin's cat fishing knot after you've tried on your spark plugs as weights❤
I actually do that with my kites specially when I’m Kiteboarding!🤪👍
I'm stoned as shit watching a video how to tie a knot and yep
Yeah great for terminal tackle like a swivel or hook but if you have already tied rigs to attach you gotta pull the whole thing with hook thru your loop and it's hard. I'd switch to a trilene anytime the palomar isn't the easist but it sure is my fav and fastest knot.
By far my favourite as its easy and very effective, how can you say no to this knot 😁
This is the knot I have used for 20 years. Never had a break at the hook
Great simple knot!😮
I always use this knot it’s easy to remember
Now there is the "Improved Palomar Knot"
So simple thanks!!
Very good. Much appreciated.
The double is really good as well
Palomar for life
I prefer a uni-knot for thin line, but I also don't fish, and this one seems to be universally beloved by the comment section
It works well for swivels and hooks on a drop shot rig
I got the memory of a goldfish so I always end up sticking the a square knot for everything
But this one's so easy, even a goldfish could do it 😉
With the water I fish in, that gentle kiss would give you salmalina 😂
I just always thread it through spin it about 5 times and run it back through the loop closest to the hook and pull tight.
Experimented this on surgical simulation. Solid knot but too big, gets the suture stuck in tissues. Still a cool knot nevertheless.
I always use this knot now having lost many big fish with tucked half blood knots.
You can't use the Palomar knot all the time. Cause. If you're using a small hook, the eye hole will be to small to get the Line through the hole when it's through folded over even with smaller lines, I run 4 pound test and I still can't fit it through some of the smaller hooks.
also i put my finger right at the line coming over the eye, put your finger over the eye and pull it out then sinch it. If you sinch it and the line is stuck on the eye, it’ll ruin the knot and you have to retie unless you enjoy losing lures and fish
I've been using that knot for years for bass fishing with 15 lb braid
I use this knot on all my fishing luers
I use this or double pitzen exclusively. I do the double p on some of the bigger stuff but neither have failed me yet
