Danny was a tough kid, he was a marine war hero during WW2 who earned the silver star and purple heart at Okinawa, who once said after combat boxing was a piece of cake, a brave kid who could fight
Should be scored retired in the 9th as the 8th round was well over and Lamotta quit when the bell went for the 9th. Somewhere Marcel Cerdan was smiling.
Should never have been a knockdown. His ankle clearly buckled and he was pushed hard. Not saying he wasn't hurt or that Nardico didn't smack him good with that punch. But he faced alot tougher, harder men and never once went down. Was never a knockdown.
Jake LaMotta 's cast iron jaw, and his oak- like legs, failed him only once in his over 100 bout career against fellow Italian - American Danny Nardico
Notice how everybody was on there feet after knockdown, LaMotta was fighting like a defenseless declawed cat against a alley cat, he couldn't fight back!!!
Classic story of the great fighter going on too long after his prime and being beaten by the hungry young pretender. What happened to Danny Nardico? He looked handy. There are so many dream fights in the middleweight division. Prime LaMotta vs prime Gene Fullmer. That would be a barn burner.
Nardico pushes Lamotta which squares his feet up and throws his balance is off, then Nardico throws a left hook and knocks him down. Have to score it but it's far from a clean, legit knockdown. I'm ok with saying Lamotta was never dropped, just as I am Hagler.
IceveinsProductions yeah right man. He got dropped then barely threw a punch after that. He was holding the ropes looking scared to fight. He lost the fight the second he hit the ground
It was clean. La Motta took the eight count on his knee. If he wasn't hurt he would've jumped right back up. LaMotta was clearly hurt. He couldn't answer the bell for the next round.
@@maxkol4380 yeah it was a clean shot but he was unbalance and i study psychology and the way i look that when he got down his ego hurt not the body but the ego and thats why after that he hold the ropes into one hand and clearly dare nardico to hit him so if nardico hit him again he can tell his ego that he can take his punch and him holding the ropes is if he was unbalanced again he can hang on the ropes
Kind of looked knocked down to me. Also, he was doing an awful lot of rope holding after that knock down. That said, JESUS, that bastard could take a ton of punishment. Must've had extra brain padding or thick skull.
***** if you were a fan of jake as i obviously am you would know he has often been heard jokingly saying "i slipped" when referring to this fight, it was his only knockdown throughout hes whole career (apart from billy fox when he took a dive for the mafia to get a shot at the belt) he's one of my fave fighters after robinson, armstrong, hagler and some you may not have heard of, this era in boxing is probably the most watchable for me when the referee was hardly needed, times were tough back then and the fights reflected on the day to day struggle people had back then, and history shows there were many don king characters floating around and sadly many boxers ended up getting ripped off or were misguided to the point of destruction.
***** here here, greb was one of my faves and died too young, having surgery on hes nose but never came out of the anesthetic bless him, the earlier the better for me with boxing and my didn't they earn their money.
***** and like most boxers back then he was a true gentleman and such a great loss to the world look at boxing now with the likes of adrian broner, so glad he got hes arse kicked lol what a big head, they haven't lived
Not a knockdown. Nardico pushed him when he was standing awkwardly after the clinch. Unless you count a TKO as a knockdown LaMotta technically never dropped..
knockdown is at 9:14
Fair play to Danny the only man to put the raging ball on his back side
LaMotta wrote a great autobiography, Raging Bell...Unfortunately, he didn't say much about the Nardico loss.
You ever see the move "Ricky" with Sylvestor Stallone?

I think you mean "Racky" 😉
Death Anchor No it’s “Rolly”
@@swiftlessytvlogs5637 I heard it was Robert

Well done you read Wikipedia
LaMotta took so many vicious beatings---still kept his marbles to the end of a long life.
great upload thanks
funny that the ref didn't mind Lamotta grabbing the rope to prevent from going down.
Great fight jake held on for his life not surprised he couldn't get off his stool after that onslaught cheers for that mate
Why is Nardico not more famous? This is essentially a Buster Douglas moment...
Not even close to a Buster Douglas moment
@Derrick Plum - Buster Douglas is your grandfather?? WOW! ;- )
@Derrick Plum - yeah, I figured that. Just havin' some fun with you. Grandpa had skills!
@The Goonie78 what is ur fathers name?
Fair play to Danny and nikito the only man to put the region full on his backside
wow jake on the floor! doesn't look right lol he still toughed it out tho great fighter
The ref is a total bum...fight should of been stopped.
knocked down!
Horrible ref to let Lamotta hold the rope like that...
What was LaMotta doing with his right hand on the ropes? He was a sitting duck for punches by Nardico.
Trying to stay upright I think

Interesting.. He found the man to knock him down.
don't think so.
Two great sluggers in boxing's golden age. Nardico was a WWII and Korean War vet.
Revenge Time LaMotta!!!!

Eduardo lausse le hubiera ganado a los 2 juntos.

Danny Nardico prove very tough and bravery man in Okinawa, awarded with Silver Star Medal.
Is very harder to defeat a true warrior as him.
no way he got hit right in the face and went down. a clear knockdown
IceveinsProductions yeah right man. He got dropped then barely threw a punch after that. He was holding the ropes looking scared to fight. He lost the fight the second he hit the ground

Pssh he lost his balance.
Lamotta was never truly knocked down.

jake actually used nardico as a sparring partner at one stage and was then helped by jake to further hes career, the irony of it.

It was a clean knockdown
