The town of Aregua lies 30 km from Asuncion and so is easliy visited from there on a day out.
It sits on the shore of Lake Ypacacrai which is the largest lake in Paraguay and is a very pleasent place to be.
The lakeside has been turned into a large well kept park with walkways, benches and viewpoints over the water. A very relaxing place on a sunny out of season day.
There is a small enterance fee to the park but I found it to be very good value for money, and the fees do help towrds the upkeep of the park.
On the day I was there the weather was fine, but there was a stong wind blowing into town from across the lake. As such a voice over has been added (without the wind). The waves on the lake though are a sign of how hard it was blowing.
The town itself is something of an artists colony and an enjoyable place to wander around for a few hours.

So calming.😊

Beautiful place
Thank you
Hi Simon, lovely video. Can confirm its a lovely place, and calming. Was there for an afternoon in July. Just before we met. Out of main season, was not crowded at all😁
@@markharrison7302 certainly a very nice spot and worth a visit
Wow Simon the last time I was on that pier in Aregua there were about 100 people on it. That was in October 2023. We will be in PY for most of September and half of October. We spend a lot of time in Aregua. My wife has her family home on the outskirts of Itaugua in a nice quiet area. As you know it’s the next town over from Aregua. I enjoyed the video. Great Job. Your American friend Joe
I would just guess we are about 10-12 minutes by car from where you are. Now have to check Google maps to see the real time and mileage. Now just curious. Have a great one
@@joececere4918 Hi Joe, thanks for that. It is a beautiful place but the trick is on a weekday, out of season. That way it's such a relaxing place to wander around. You say you are not far. Is that from there where I was or here in Piribebuy where I am?
@@simonsparaguay Hello Simon, You are correct. It was a Saturday or Sunday. I like people but I would’ve wished there were less people on the pier when I was on it. lol. I just checked google maps and it says my wife’s family home is 16 minutes and 10 km from Playa de Aregua. I had written it was 10-12 minutes by car. I was off a little. Google maps is stretching it a little. Haha no big deal.
@@joececere4918 google maps does tend not to offer the best routes here (my guess is lack of data). Had to visit a place I did not know in Piribebuy today, google maps took me on a 10 minute trip from the town centre, spotted some landmarks on the way so took a more direct route back taking just 2 minutes
@@simonsparaguay Yes even at home in my area where I live I am always curious checking routes that I need to travel and here I know 100 % of where I’m going. Just for the heck of it because I love geography and reading maps. And google maps sometimes would try to send me in a circle. We will just go the way we know but in Paraguay I’m not so confident. And I even checked all the settings on Google maps and everything is correct but they still try to make me dizzy and go in a circle. Take care
