What I didn't know when reviewing this bass: The preamp has some switches in the control cavity that allow you to select different frequencies. With this you can also tame the hissing that appears when you turn the highs all the way up.

MM/J Basses are the best basses!
If the J is a humbucker, because running 3 coils is always a sad thing. But not as bad as a PJ.. PJs are a bad design idea to me ^^
Bapt and the Basses Most MM/J designs I've seen use a dual-coil humbucking J pickup because the size difference won't let a single-coil properly hum-cancel against the bridge pickup at equal panning. Also those basses tend to be designed for versatility and being able to do different pannings noiselessly. I just love the MM/J sound. It's got the right combo of punchy, bright, growly, and harmonic sounds imo
I love it too. My Cort GB34A is a MM/J but with a single coil J. It's a totally different mix. Not sure if because serial/parallel. @@Surfer8652
@@bapt_andthebasses Those Cort GB3x basses are super cool, I love their aesthetic. Did it come with a single coil J pickup or did you install it yourself? Do you find that you can avoid getting too much noise? I may try putting a single-coil in one of my Lakland 4-94s to hear how it sounds and if the harmonics improve. I've swapped out the original quad-coil MMs with dual-coil Seymour Duncan SMB4As, and they don't make too much noise when coil tapped.

I like the tiger strip body, the electronics, neck through and just about everything else but.....the headstock is the most stupidest looking one on the market. Common...all that cash for this bass and that's the best they could do with the headstock? Fail.
