Love-hate Lions Make Great Mates | Lion of the Americas | Nature Bites

As a female mountain lion comes into mating season, she produces a scent which signals that she is willing to mate. A male mountain lion follows this scent and comes to greet her. Though he is initially met with some hostility, they eventually mate, resulting in the female lion giving birth to tiny, cute kittens.
From “Lion of the Americas” : When the resident male is killed by hunters, one of the young mountain lions gains control. We follow him as he defines his territory and hunts the deer herd, all while learning what it means to be an adult male.

People who rag on pandas forget a lot of animals (like Cougars) also have pretty small windows of opportunity when it comes to mating. The difference is these guys are lucky to handle human-created stress better. Blaming the animals is deflection.
