I remember renting this over 30 years ago from HEB video central. I loved it! The sound of the sword slashing is burned into my brain. Playing it again recently on the switch makes me realize I’ve not the reflexes I used to. And what the hell are those little robots that circle the character!? I keep trying to kill them.
It makes you wonder how did you got so far back then. It’s certainly not a casual play. They are helpers if it’s what I’m thinking of. They destroy anything they come in contact with.
Great game and the MD port at the time was mind blowing back in 1990 and was the first 8 meg game, but it’s not without its flaws, it has slowdown and the game has to load due to the heavy compression due to the 8 meg ROM limitations, but overall a solid arcade port, I own the MD port and yeah that UK box art looks cringe next to the Japanese box art which looks so cool.
Wow you have the CDX box. I remember the box being much smaller than that. I've got the console (CDs don't read anymore) but it was such a cool little console.

Amazing game but bastard hard!
There was always some twat who fires that lucky shot that sends you down a hole.

It’s my favourite system. Fortunately mine still works. But even if it didn’t, I could never get rid of it.
@@classicfromtheattic 🤯that’s amazing that yours still works.
@popixel I know! I’m scared to use it in case it goes pop.
I've always like the Genesis version best. Especially audiowise.
It does sound very good, especially for an early title.
Brutal game, I threw my controller more than once.
I think my console had a scar from a speeding controller.
Great review. Too hard and awful box art. Not one of my favourites
Thanks! It’s ugly as hell. Doesn’t really look attractive enough to make you want to buy it.
