@@mradulalms you must be a bedrock player. coal can generate up to just above y0. in java, deepslate starts at y8 and is full at y0. while in bedrock, deepslate only starts at y0 and below, making it impossible for deepslate coal.
18:11 just to clarify (in case some poor soul takes what you said as a challenge, and spends days mining/AFK-mining a bedrock block) bedrock is coded to be unbreakable from the minecraft wiki on Block Hardness: "Any block that has a hardness of infinity actually has a hardness of -1. However, the breaking ticks start from 0, which means that effectively it can never break." (where bedrock blocks are included in this list of blocks with "infinite" hardness) Block hardness basically determines how fast a block can be mined, as attempting to mine a block will trigger the start of the mining process, which will take a specific amount of time (measured in game ticks) depending on the block and the tool you're using to mine it. Thus the block breaking animation starts a timer that counts up to the correct number of ticks and then allows the block to be broken, but the timer has to start at 0, and presumably in the code there's a check to see if the timer doesn't start at 0 (or specifically, if the timer starts at -1) and if that is the case then the timer is never started, so no number of game ticks can be reached to result in the lock breaking. There are ways of breaking & even obtaining the bedrock block in survival java minecraft - both use glitches, where there's lots of easy-to-follow tutorials for breaking, but as far as I know only one (extremely complicated) method for obtaining bedrock. I realise this ain't the focus of this episode so I'll finish my comment now, but I just thought it needed reiterating that you can't break bedrock by mining it for days, as the mining process is never started :D
Obtaining bedrock in Survival was accomplished by a group of highly technical players on a server running a much older version of Minecraft. If I remember correctly it basically involved stressing the server to the point where it could barely load chunks, then tricking it into thinking a bedrock block had different blast resistance properties. It’s not something the average person should be concerned with in Survival.
Theoretically you could mine until the timer overflows to negatives and slowly increases back to -1 taking essentially forever (max unsigned int is 2^32)/20 = time in seconds. This would take 6.8 years to fully break and assumes they forgot to implement overflow protection, which is coding 101. Or they decided that 6.8years was an acceptably rediculous mining time no lunatic would ever attempt. Anyway if you really want that piece of bedrock go find a tutorial on how to do it instead.
You make caving look so easy, lol. When I explore the new caves, I seem to just get absolutely swarmed by mobs. Much prefer branch mining for resources.
Get as many torches as you can get. Get into the cave and light up the place as far as you can before all the mobs are flooding you and then abort mission. Get away from the cave and let the mobs despawn. Then go back into the cave. The lit up area is safe now so now you light up the next area as much as you can and abort the cave again. Repeat untill cave is fully lit
I got fed up with cave mining, so branched instead, ended up finding caves anyway. Best way for me to map it: start at X0Z0 tunnel down to Y0 (or now -60?) make a Nether portal, then begin tunnelling either towards X2048 or Z2048. You will find caverns and resources a plenty. It is also safer to map out your world (I once covered 3 2000 block areas all mapped out and then fell down a ravine. Haven't been back on Minecraft since). The nether portals help you with mapping because the nether is 8 blocks difference, so you only have to cover 256 blocks before building another portal instead of 2048.

Is it bad that I'm also looking forward to when you have bigger projects and start the timelapses and Chopping Tuesdays? Because I am. I didn't know the little slimes couldn't hurt us. You can nametag anything to give it permanence which is the flag for if an entity will despawn or not. Little slimes don't grow up into big slimes, but you may want to keep it in your base so it doesn't die to any number of things including fall damage and accidentally to your sword.

one of the things I like about 1.18 is they made caving and mining really worth it again, even in late game. in my current world I found one of those new iron ore veins (actually 2 but a part of me wonders if cave gen just cut in to it even though they are quite a few grids and Y levels apart ) and it does rivel a full iron farm in the amount of iron you can get (and beat it if you have fortune 3) but it's con is the shear amount of coal to smelt it all up and the smelt time (even with the blast furnace).
Keep it going pix. I hope you get to the more interesting and fast paced stuff soon because honestly i feel a little bored here. But I get the reason behind it. Good luck
11:39 I made it a habit of mining out every block in contact with an ore before the ore itself, which also doubles as protection from hazards such as lava that might be in proximity to the ore. Takes more time, but when it's something as rare as diamond or something else that's very useful and hard to find it's worth making sure nothing's going to happen to it, such as it falling into lava if you're near lava level or that a creeper isn't above the ore you're currently mining from an adjacent tunnel.
Loved the video @Pixlriffs! Can't wait for the next video man! Enchantments that I think might be best for your Diamond Pickaxe would be Mending 5, Unbreaking 3, Efficiency 5 and Silk Touch for the Amethyst as well as Fortune 3 for any ores you'll come across in future!
A little trick for finding diamond on console versions, since you can’t press F4 to check to see if you’re deep enough to find diamonds, you dig until you find red stone and then dig around them or on the same level because both resources spawn at the same depths
Also, if ur reading this, I justed wanted to let u know that I've been binge watching ur tutorial playlist, I love it! It helps me out so much. And yea, I agree with "Dev..."
I'm surprised that you didn't teach us to get fortune on our pickaxe first before we go down in a cave ... but I understand what your doing for the new players tho ... baby steps
Gotta craft an enchanting table and learn about enchanting first. Naturally we can buy tools from villagers or get lucky with loot chests, but there will be plenty of time to go caving after we’ve got a Fortune enchant.
@@Pixlriffs I think you’ll find, as you explore more caves, that slimes are more prevalent than in previous updates. The larger and more numerous caves give them far more chances to spawn. I discovered you through Empires, and miss seeing you there. But, I’m truly enjoying this series. It’s obvious that your heart is really in this, and that makes a huge difference. Oh, another thing you will likely encounter more of, as you explore the world, is Pillager Outposts. Preparing for those should definitely be an episode, at some point. 🤠👍
Loving the new survival guide, Pix! Thank you for all the hard work, the love and care you put into your videos really comes across. Quality content as always!
You can make a renewable lava source by placing a dripstone block directly underneath the lava source block and then a dripstone underneath the dripstone block. The lava can be collected in a cauldron. It takes around 2 minecraft days but its worth it.
Mining at Y-59 is way faster if you to traditional strip mining. Especially for early game. You are guaranteed to find lots of diamonds. In the deepslate caves, they only spawn in veins of 2 or 3 max usually. But in Y-59 they spawn much larger veins. And more often. Plus no hostile mobs which is great for early game. And you get deepslate for building.
I don't know if it's because I play bedrock but caving has been so much better for me. Deepslate takes so long to mine and I burn through iron pickaxes strip mining. Unlike big caves where I can just run around and find exposed ores. I guess this also preference, strip mining is so boring 😅
The fact that you naturally found a slime chunk (possibly two!) cracks me up. I don't think I've ever gotten lucky enough to find one without using outside websites to look them up.
The difficulty is in checking the slime chunk is actually where you found the slime! Sometimes they can spawn right on the edge of a chunk and cross over the border to a neighbouring chunk. Then you end up digging a massive pit, only to find it was in the wrong place...
In one of the last updates (not sure when exactly), they reduced the amount of ores exposed to the air. As I understood it, they reduced the size of a vein, if exposed to an air block.
This is basically how it works, yeah. The problem is, finding these larger veins buried in the terrain still requires you to dig around with no idea where they are. That's why I favour caving, because it's much easier to cover large areas and find ores at a glance.
great vid. though id personally use torches in offhand not the shield (its really annoying to all the timr switch to the torches tbh). eventually id use the shortcut button to switch torches and shield when needed but besides that, great vid tbh
Pix, I think you should talk about bundles and other means of transportable inventory stuff like llama's and donkeys, since caving and exploring could be frustrating in early game.

one of the things I like about 1.18 is they made caving and mining really worth it again, even in late game. in my current world I found one of those new iron ore veins (actually 2 but a part of me wonders if cave gen just cut in to it even though they are quite a few grids and Y levels apart ) and it does rivel a full iron farm in the amount of iron you can get (and beat it if you have fortune 3) but it's con is the shear amount of coal to smelt it all up and the smelt time (even with the blast furnace).
Do lava sources work the same as water sources? Will digging a 2x2x1 hole and placing two lava sources on a diagonal create endless lava sources?
Nope. Lava can be renewable, but it requires a more complicated setup than renewable water does.
I like how he doesn't panic on spotting mobs and ventures into the caves TILL Y-50
Man did not say mending 5 😂
21:49 Hey Pixl, I have a suggestion for your mining diamond. try mining in flower forest biome.
These videos single handedly helped me get into minecraft
18:30 you can mine bed rock in days did u know that
Yea just get an aetherite pick
Imbue. Such a nice word. Imbue. (I'm reminded of Miranda. "Tuesday!") 🤣
A little trick for finding diamond on console versions, since you can’t press F4 to check to see if you’re deep enough to find diamonds, you dig until you find red stone and then dig around them or on the same level because both resources spawn at the same depths
Your commentary is so good that i loved to watch your videos.
Also, if ur reading this, I justed wanted to let u know that I've been binge watching ur tutorial playlist, I love it! It helps me out so much. And yea, I agree with "Dev..."
So that's how you stay focus. Whenever I see something interesting, I immediately forget my original reason for caving.
when pix and wattles upload episodes finding diamonds on the same day!
Haha same mate. 😂😂❤
Pixlriffs is becoming one of my favorite youtubers. Great content. Keep it up
fun fact: on bedrock edition, the pattern of slime chunks is the same on every seed
This guy is one of the best tutor of minecraft. He is the reason i started playin minecraft and i learned everything from him thank u Pixlriffs 😁😁
The series is growing fast!
There is one more block lava can help make, its basalt. Love the series.
Nice video!! When you found lapis you could try the diamond trick!!
I always die using the water fall bucket method.
That's why I favour caving, because it's much easier to cover large areas and find ores at a glance.
great vid. though id personally use torches in offhand not the shield (its really annoying to all the timr switch to the torches tbh). eventually id use the shortcut button to switch torches and shield when needed
but besides that, great vid tbh
Don’t listen to what he said about the bedrock you will not be able to mine it in survival (unless your a member of the scicraft server)
Pix, I think you should talk about bundles and other means of transportable inventory stuff like llama's and donkeys, since caving and exploring could be frustrating in early game.
Bundles haven’t been implemented in this update, and won’t be in 1.19 either.
@@Pixlriffs Seriously!!! That was the item i've been wanting for too long. I like the early game and like to create new worlds all the time. It would have make it so much more fun. That's so dissapointing.
Also Diamonds have a high chance to not spawn when exposed to air, which can make veins slightly misleading in actual shape/size
Between you and the Hermits, Paulsoaresjr and All, Congrats on making 1T Minecraft video views possible
Great Pix Asome series
Today in my mines (just a few hours ago), I found that a diamond ore was EXPOSED and I didn't even see it..! When I mined it, it was an 8 vein, though I have got maxed out gear, it always fun to find diamonds the places where you least expect them :D
Mining to soothing piano. Gotta love it.
Pixlriffs is my favourite tutorial maker and minecraft youtuber he tells us all the details about what we need to know in minecraft
love the BGM pix ^^
Very informative as usual, like it alot well done
This just shows how mucn more intresting new caves are compared to old Minecraft caves. They are so large and expaisive.
Ik it’s really late but at 12:33 behind the red stone is some more diamonds if anyone is using the same seed
😎 Thank goodness i silk touched 2 stacks of deepslate coal in 1.17
Sweet video, loved the caves
Tip: You can find the most diamonds in abandoned mineshaft more than cheese caves. Because every world I made Mineshafts are so rich of diamonds.
Awaiting for your 1M subs 😉👍🏻
Diamonds are really common to me, especially when you live in a village, you can trade or take stuff in their chest
It's so good to be back
Love the your content keep it up!
Well Pixlriffs is my birthday gift.
I love the video, but I really hoped that you'd explore the mine shaft. Or maybe u do that in one of the next episodes...
my latest world started right on the edge of a giant ocean.. so my first diamonds were from a sunken ship or a buried treasure.. cant recall which .
