Just wanted to show my appreciation, your video saved me a ton of money. I’m heading up to Lewisburg Tennessee to pick up my Ironbull dump trailer next week. Not sure if I ever would have found there products with out this video. I looked at several other brands, alot more expensive, and no where near the quality as the Ironbull! Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the support. I was honest in my review. Like you I've been looking at everything. No one builds this quality of a trailer for this price in my area. Hope you love yours as much as I love mine.
@@TKCL I ended up getting a 16’ with 2’ sides. I basically have the same truck as yours, mine is 2wd. I am looking forward to see how well the ole Dmax does with this trailer. Plan on using mine hauling gravel for my driveway maintenance and catching up from lack of. It will be a learning curve of figuring out how to not overload the trailer and exceeding truck towing specs. Thanks again for your review. Like I said, it definitely saved me some money.
Glad the video helped.
@@TKCL I picked up trailer today, man it is a awesome trailer. So, on my 4 hr trip back, I got to thinking about if there’s some sort of master switch in the pump wiring. I am a pack rat. In time, I will have my battery box full of all sorts of stuff. My fear is, remote either getting smashed and shorting out or something falling on it while cruising down the interstate and engaging the pump. That would be the makings of a bad day. So either, unplugging the remote each time or maybe installing a battery disconnect switch wouldn’t be a bad idea. Thought I’d share this with you. Might be good content in a video…..
Battery disconnect is a quick solution, install a breaker or boat battery cut off switch.
Iron bull owes you a 12 pack of beer, man. im in the market for a dump trailer and this video explains very clearly the differences between cheap trailers and well built. Thanks again.
Glad it helped
The reason the chains are short is because you don't want to obscure the lights below. Something to keep in mind.
Ahhhh
I have the 10ft version of this. That little "safety stand" is used when you store your trailer outside. You lift the trailer up enough to clear it, then lower it back onto it making sure it fits into the hole for it. It keeps the water and anything else from staying in the trailer when not in use. I would absolutely use it as a safety also when working on it.
Thank you for the feedback
Awesome trailer. I have cycled through several different types over the decades, as my economics allowed me to upgrade, and this has all the features I now require in a dump trailer. One note, and you may already know this but it bears repeating for others watching... Whatever the capacity of the ram, it is based on an even load across the entire floor of the trailer, with significant weight behind and near the fulcrum as counterweight to help the tip. So 10k pounds pushed to the front will exceed the capacity of the ram, and you made mention of this. However, with the capacity and different materials in mind, it is easy to overload this trailer, as 10k of sand may only fill that trailer up to about 1/2 full when the material is leveled. This is especially important if you are in a region that sells material by the yard rather than by the ton. Many landscape material yards have a half yard or one yard bucket on their loader, and they sell it by the yard or scoop if they don't have scales. SO... test your weights before going whole hog filling that thing to the gunnels. 4 yards of wet sand may get you to 10k and still leave the trailer looking kinda empty, and this is where mistakes are made. I learned to use bright yellow paint and made lines at various depths on the inside walls saying sand, gravel, 3" to 8" rock, etc, so that I knew at a glance what volume would not exceed the weight. This was not for me, but for less concerned employees who kept blowing out the seals on the rams. Also, when dumping, make sure the grade is as level as possible and your tires are properly inflated. This seems obvious, and you might think a 14' trailer is too short to roll over, but I have watched it happen. Not to mention the twisting stress it puts on the entire trailer. Anyway, I hope my mistakes will be helpful to others. Thanks for another great video!
Good information, thanks.
Very informative comments!! Especially how little volume of certain materials will get you over the 10000 # payload!!
Just to let you know the bar that is under the trailer located in the right front is for when you want to let the dump sit for a long time, you should elevate the dump so that the piston does not freeze as well as to keep the hinges from rusting.
Thanks
This is by far the best trailer video I have ever seen and has convinced me on the trailer that I need!
Thank you for watching
Love the 3 way tailgate and overall robustness of it, Andrew. I'm very excited for you, man! It's a great looking new tool for the property!
I'm super excited about it myself, going to make work easier.
Way to go! It is built.very well. I've had my 16' gooseneck with scissor lift for a long time. I've seen the front cylinder but never watched a review. The most impressive thing for me was the dump down feature. I ordered mine with power up/down. That is when the pump runs it up and powers it down. I've never seen a dump come down that fast. With that alone, when up and down factored together it is fast! Love and proud for you Sir.
Take care and have fun!
Thank you very much! I wanted gravity down to help extend the life of the battery too.
Awesome review Sir! Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!
Glad you enjoyed it
Good for you Andrew you have been wanting a dump trailer for a long time. I am glad you finally got one. It dose look like a very well built trailer. I know you research your stuff pretty good. Congrats Sir!! 👍👍❤️❤️🇨🇦
Thank you very much!
Thanks for taking the time to make this video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Congratulations Andrew. Glad you were able to get your dump trailer. Now I really want one bad
Thank you, I love it!
That post is for when you clean it and store the trailer so water doesn’t accumulate in it and rust out 👍
That's correct..
Hey Bubba, the safety post in the corner is that and more, it is a safe storage post so that you do not collect water in the bed when it is not in use. A smart buyer will take the trailer in and have a Rhino liner coating sprayed on. the interior side walls and bed. It will extend the bed life 100% or more. Thanks for the Video , Well done!!
Dump trailers need smooth bottoms, so that material can slide out. Spray it with rhino liner might as well line the whole thing with bubble gum.
Nice video 👍
I have the same trailer and I’ve put it to the test. It’s exceeded my expectations.
Great trailer. Well built.
Great to hear
Andrew, i like it!!! Glad you went with the single vertical lift cylinder.
I think it's the right choice.
Excellent trailer and you got a great deal on the price! One of my pro tips is to put two coats of wax on the trailer deck and side to help everything slide out, plus weather protection... Can't wait to see all the work you will do with it!!!
Thank you very much
I've had my 7x14 gatormade gooseneck for 10 years... Absolutely love it... Definitely add a solar trickle charger as it will inevitably spend most of its time sitting around
Agreed, I'm going to get one.
You know I liked the telescopic hoist on this, but I really love the 3-way tailgate too! That's almost like gettin 2 ft. for free for certain hauling instances like you said. It has some extra goodies that are REALLY nice too! A wireless remote will definitely be worth it especially for topping your driveway once you get your spreader chains set up right. I'm impressed and you made an awesome deal in my book. A proud purchase 👍👍👍💜💜💜💜 (Oh...and you'll never be stuck with a hoisted bed if your battery goes dead LOL!)
All good points
Extra money well spent Andrew. Seems you picked a great one. Cant wait to see all the projects you can get done with it.
Coming soon
YaY you got a dump trailer!!! That will definitely help around there. Happy for you. Work smarter not harder right!?!? I love watching your channel grow and all the amazing things you are accomplishing in your life and with your land. Happy for you for real.
Thank you very much
Congrats Andrew, I know you will put it to good use.
Thank you!
Fantastic
I agree, really liking that design with many features.
I'm still loving it after many months of use.
Great looking trailer Andrew, definitely very well specked. Best of luck with your new trailer 👍
Thank you
Nice!!! Congratulations. Can't wait to see it in action.
Thank you, it's going to work asap.
I like how it sits high so material doesn't back up as quick behind the trailer...
I like that too, plus sitting up higher allows for a more extreme dump angle.
Thanks for this great video, I just picked up the exact same trailer from trailer world in Fitzgerald Ga. , on Wednesday of last week, I love it, great value and includes add ons for the money
I absolutely love this trailer, I've been using it heavily for hurricane cleanup and hauling logs. Even been hauling my tractor and grapple in it. Enjoy your trailer!
Congratulations Andrew! I know you will get some great use out of that trailer.
I sure will! Thanks
Wow.... my dream trailer is finally in the market now. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for watching
That is awesome trailer. Your going to get some uses out of it congratulations on getting one you sure deserve it.
Thank you very much
Thanks for all the info. I have been contemplating and you helped me move forward.
I still love this trailer, I am very happy with my purchase.
Sweet! Congrats. Nice looking trailer I like the barn doors with the hooks on the sides to hold those doors open. 👍💞
Thank you
Nice! I’m getting the 12 ft long one this coming weekend but with the scissor lift. Thanks for the review.
Enjoy your trailer!
Great review on the trailer. I purchased the 6x10 last year in California and paid the same price you did for your 14’. I love how it’s built and believe it’s well worth the extra bucks.
I feel like I got a great deal.
You are exactly correct. That is a safety device to keep the box from crushing you while under the trailer
Good to know, glad they included that.
Congratulations on your new trailer. Certainly going to make your many jobs easier.
Thank you so very much for your support and making it possible.
Awesome video. That will really come in handy for your property. 🤠
Yes it will!
I think you should consider doing a video on trailer hitches and especially tounge weight rating. A heavy load needs the proper hitch . Great iron bull review!
Agreed, I've been eyeballing some weight hitches.
Great, Great video. Thank you.
Also If I'm not mistaken that hollow "safety pole" that sticks up. I'm pretty sure you lower your EMPTY trailer down onto it when not in use to let the rain run off and keeps the stress off the cylinder.
You are correct
Nice toy! Enjoy!
That's a beautiful trailer. Congratulations
Thank you very much
I think that safety tube in the front is for holding a fishing pole. ;)
Looks like an awesome Trailer, I’m glad you finally got one
Lol that's it!
Good luck with the new tool!Great review, i am looking at dump trailers or dump trucks for our farm and business use as well .You got a great deal. I looked at the same brand and model and it was 1.5k more than you payed.
I felt like it was a excellent deal.
Thank God you got a good trailer for relatively affordable price! I can see you upgrading it and putting a rubber mat before dumping stones onto that nice shiny surface:)))) Now you can go help Cash with all the trees that fell and need moving:)
I'll probably put plywood in it to keep from scratching it 🤣
Great job Kelly! I'd like to buy one and get into the business! I just wish I knew how! Great job!
Congratulations good buy.
Thank you
Cool, you finally bought one
Yes finally!
Congratulations. I know you've been looking for a long time. I'm extremely proud of my Sure Trac dump trailer. I will say other than mine being 16ft yours looks to be built better than mine.
I'm very pleased with how well this is built for the price
Fantastic video!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Looks top notch :-)
WoooHoooo, congratulations on the new dump trailer. Great job getting a well known solid built trailer instead of a cheapy. I know the initial upfront cost hurts but the long term dependability/reliability of a quality unit will pay dividends over time!
Agreed!
Congratulations. Money well spent.
Thank you very much for helping with this purchase. Much appreciated!
Awesome
Am looking at a 8’x16’ deck over dump but I like the 3 way gate for sure that’s one sexy trailer
Great video and that’s a really nice trailer!!!
Thanks so much! I love it!
Built a lot like my load trail. I looked at iron bull and they are a very well built trailer.
I love mine!
Great video. Thanks 🙏. I’m shopping for a dump trailer.
Highly recommended this one.
I got one of the "lesser" dump trailers you mentioned. It puts in work everything from 5 yards of mulch, 2tons of rock, or hauling my tractor. Does more then fine doing it for my landscape business. Your gonna have that tank forever lol
Congratulations on your purchase!
Thank you
That's not a work trailer, that's a Show Trailer! Great buy! Congrats!
She is pretty!
Hi, Andrew! I’m doing my Hallelujah Happy Dance up here in North Carolina. You deserved a dump trailer a long time ago. See you in about 40 minutes.
Thank you so much
Nice trailer. Really nice when the guy that purchased it loads it. Cause you get some newbie with a tractor rams that cylinder those are more expensive to repair. I like it though!
Good show sir.
Thank you for watching
Sweet trailer 👍
Thank you
I bought a 7x16 Norstar last summer. It is awesome. I saw the frame as soon as I pulled into the lot was the size of the frame rails!!! I don't have tailgate. I have the barn doors!!
They seem well built
Congratulations
Thanks
Andrew, Nice trailer very good price for the quality of your trailer. Catch ya later on the live. I didn’t see your supervisor watching you.
He was burning and hanging out in front of the fan.
Nice video.
I'm sold
Thats a really nice trailer👍
Thank you, I feel so blessed to have it. It's sure going to be a big help on the homestead. Thank you for stopping by and watching.
That'll come in handy for so many things.
Yes it will
Pom
Very nice dump trailer. I also been looking for a trailer for a couple years.
Thank you, so happy to have this.
hi there real nice trailer , the support rod that sticks up maybe for the the deck to rest on when not in use so no water will build up in the bed . nice john
That's exactly right, people have been telling me that. Thanks for watching!
I like the tailgate but I have two dumps one is a diamond C with a 16 same piston but not the same door. That one sits lower which is great for loading equipment not dumping at a land fill. The other is a Packard trailer dual piston so that scares me for buckling but it sits higher for dumping. The diamond is a 16 with a cage style second wall the first I took some roof sheeting from a job so it keeps roof debris inside but it’s shorter for light demo loads the diamond c has a second wall made with expanded steel that one does not work well with keeping roofing material and general debris inside. But great video. Btw that pipe does help with maintenance and inspection but it’s mostly for servicing the piston or pistons.
I just purchased a 7x14 Norstar last week from Trailer World in Ozark, Alabama. $9495 plus a $175 spare tire and wheel. I had a very hard time choosing between your model and mine. You would put mine in your cheaper category as it does not have a spreader gate, one piece heavy floor ect. However what sold me was the 8” I-beam construction. Both are excellent made trailers. I enjoyed your video. Very informative.
I considered their scissor lift trailer with the 8 inch I beam. But after I got to looking at this one, 6-in seems Overkill for what all I'll use it for. They both look very well built.
Andrew - I'm a dump trailer engineer with 20 years of experience. I've designed MANY different utility dump trailers for many major companies.
Yes, the bar on the front is the safety stop, you use that if you need to access the telescoping cylinder so that the dump bed won't crush you. It's a safety feature that's required by law.
Also, the style of pump that you have is called a "power up/gravity down" style, it basically uses hydraulic power to lift, but "dumps" the fluid back to the pump without the use of hydraulics.
I'll email you in a bit. Have some things to tell you about your trailer.
Really enjoy your content. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for watching and the information.
I'm thinking about getting a dump trailer. Do you have any recommendations based on your experience designing them? Would greatly appreciate any info you can share! Thanks!
COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congratulations on your new addition to your land sir. 👏
Thank you
Nice trailer if looking at it when fully up ...its really close to 45 ° ...Thats pretty impressive
It goes higher than I was expecting.
Awesome. I like it. :)
I love it! 😍
Congratulations on the trailer. Yes, that is a safety pole for you to work underneath the dump trailer.
Good to know, thanks!
I really like the ironbull, but that maxxed d be calling my name 🤣
Thats a dang good price!!
I think so too
🔥🔥🔥
Ok Andrew... I think the short chain for the tailgate feature is done on purpose... That chain may stretch, and if not, it will help to keep whatever you are carrying leaning into the trailer, instead of leaning out... Just my 2¢ looking at how close that it is...
Time will tell, I'll get a second set of chains just in case.
It is crazy, my 2018 Sure Trac was $6000 and the same one I bought yesterday is $10,000
Really Cool. Sounds like an Awesome buy to me. That extra 2300.00 dollars was definitely worth it.
No doubt it was!
I had a 8' x 14' double axle electric brakes on both axles 14,000 lb regular hauling trailer from Ion in Texas. It can haul your tractor, lumber, bricks, atv's, utv's or a car. It has a drive on drop down ramp to drive on that will fold in half to help you see better behind you. I ordered a spare tire rack. It was $2156.00 took about 3 weeks before it was shipped . It came with 3 x 12 pressure treated floor that I coated with bedliner on both sides. I ordered it with a bulldog 20,000 lb tongue that you can use ball, pintle, etc.
Of course, that was in 2019, but Ion makes great heavy duty trailers - just not dump beds. I agree there are some cheap crappy trailers out there that aren't very well thought out. Ion is one of the few that are quality built at a fair price. I had to go to Semmes , Alabama to order mine cross bracing is 16" on center and rails are 2 x6 like your's. With a few upgrades to your truck you would be able to haul more weight - just not as much as my Tundra. Remember, 4x4 takes away from towing capacity. But I regularly haul 14,000 lbs and you hardly now it's even there.
Timing makes a huge difference, my dad's equipment trailer was a little over $2,000 many years ago. Now that same trailer is 5 to 6,000.
Well, you are correct. I bought the Ion when they were just beginning to be recognized, likewise for my adjustable trailer hitch for my truck which was just starting out in Texas. It's a 2 way with multiple level adjustments and I keep the most common ball sizes on it which comes with the hitch. They are held by locks and pins and you can order odd sizes and types. I paid only $150 for it and it's awesome. But steel prices are falling once again. Most people don't shop around, examine the pros and cons of each manufacturer or try to get the best bang for their buck - I know you , like me do. And I appreciate all that you and Tiffany do for so many. I'm in the beginning stages of blueberry season on my farm and my small garden. I have 18 varieties of blueberries and 3 have already came in and out. I planted 2 black mulberry trees, which are like 3" long black berries and some elderberries. Also added some citrus, plums and peaches. I already have wild persimmons - which can be a good thing or a bad thing. If you pick them too early they'll turn your mouth inside out, if you pick them when they ripe they are delicious. Have a great one!
Great price for everything that you got WOW and you'll love that front lift plus the Dexter axles I know the man that owns that company
Thank you, I think it's a lot of trailer for the money.
@@TKCL I'd say that was an exceptional deal Andrew it's amazing what an old fart like me learns from you and I've known Rick Dexter for a number of years he's a great guy probably his family owns the Axle company now
What a great, comprehensive video! THANK YOU!!! This model is exactly what we've been looking for! What is the Model # for the trailer? I'm in Washington State, and I can't find it on the Norstar website. The most similar model I could find was the DXB14, but it doesn't have the 3-way rear gate with spreader function that would be perfect for our property. I found it on the Trailer Country Inc website, but they don't list the Model # and they aren't located anywhere near us. I would really appreciate your help so we could track it down in our area!!
I believe it's called the DTB8314072-24. Glad you found it useful.
Great video. I'd like to find one like that closer to the Carolinas.
This company has a dealership in Georgia.
Will my GMC Sierra Danali 6.2L pull this trailer with dirt material?? Thanks I've been thinking about it for a while
damn thats a nice trailer
I love it!
That's the same brand that Cody from WranglerStar has been using for a while he loves it too.👍
Nice!
Did you get the 14k gvwr to keep away from the cdl crap? What’s one of these run you?
Very informative video, the side walls are 24''?
Yes they are
Just tie straps or chains to the hooks and throw them over the side when loading wood or other materials that could cover those hooks
Good afternoon. 5/16 @ 4700 work load to support the gates when in tailgate setup but I'd think maybe about 3/8 for 6600 work load.
Hear me out, the tractor's frontend is on the gate, having a bit more strength of work load is cheaper than replacing a piece of equipment.
Also just like the rear corner supports, maybe have something to support the gate corners at load/unloading to possibly keep the gates from bowing/ sagging.
Expanded metal/mesh could be welded in the bottom you'd have a place for extra tools/straps, chains, binders.
Food for thought. Have a good day everybody.
Keep in mind you don't drive on that tailgate when in the down position, the ramps only work in barn door mode. I'd never put equipment on the tailgate. Maybe at the most I'll rest a 800lb grapple on it.
Thank you.
Have you thought about installing a second (parallel) battery to increase the running capacity?
It looks like you have the room for it and the 5Amp charger would be able to handle it easily.
No I hadn't, I want to see how long this one will run first. I'm hoping I can get quite a few dumps out of it before the battery gets too low.
