The sorcerer kingdom is so safe that even things that we take as perfectly normal, like corruption is not even dreamt up there. So far it's one of the best places in all of anime to live. Just don't be a Philip and ur good.
I can't really agree it's a good place to live, though the problem are the NPCs, not Ainz himself. Step out of line even slightly, no matter how unworthy of punishment it may be, and expect that the next time you wake up it will be in a farm full of fellow sheep with daily horrific torture. It's basically a rich version of North Korea, though the economy does make it a significantly more pleasant place so unlike NK there's not much to complain about fortunately, and at least there's the freedom to leave (though, it's also much harder building up a new life in the New World).

To enter the city you must prove that you can Trust in Monsters and Undeads. So i think It is hard to have excessive punishment happening in the city.

The author simply no longer wants to draw out the story. And wants to move onto writing new non-overlord stories. I can understand not wanting to be stuck writing the same story when you don’t want to anymore, just because the ‘fans’ demand more.

If he's culling it down because he's bored of it he's going to risk fucking up the story. Volume 16 felt so rushed. At this rate I rather not bother. Honestly, it seems like a pretty awesome place for any of the lower and middle class as long as Demi or someone doesn't decide the people need a reminder of how awesome Ainz or momond is and stage another 'demon' attack for the hero's of the people to be saved from.. after an adequately large number of people die to become future permanent Deathknights. For the Nobility, well they are boned, because we all know how much nobility love their corruption and they are the ones under scrutiny. The next generation of nobility who learn not to be butthats will likely love it, if there are any serious problems that they can't handle they will likely get an unprecedented level of support to have the issue solved.
Hmm if I were to live in the Sorcerer kingdom I would most likely be fine as I would request a discussion with Lupus after entering Carne village and introduce myself and request a meeting with Lord Ains or do the same but with Nfirea and ask to see "Lord Momon Of Darkness" (actually Pandora's actor) and explain that I have crucial information that Lord Ainz needs and wants, then if I get the opportunity to talk with him then I would explain the wild magic disaster with wild magic of the dragon lords and the Shalltear episode, and explain how his world and the new world was conceived in my world.
An interesting question is, if you were Isekai'd into Overlord, would you tell Ainz who you are or completely avoid the Sorcerer Kingdom since you'd always have a target on your back Via Albedo's hit squad to murder anyone who was Isekai'd?
I think I would stay clear until the whole Albedo thing had played out, perhabs I would try to warn Ainz becuase he would be mad, when he somehow knows I could have warned him.
I would love to live in a mythical capital with different friendly races and species. But the sad thing is if i go i would be found out and interrogated . So i would have to tread lightly hopefully the auto translation kicks in before momonga hears English being spoken if i run into him .
The only other nation in all of fantasy that would be better than the Sorcerer Kingdom is Tempest. However, Tempest has to deal with far more existential threats than the Sorcerer Kingdom

The way I see it, it's pretty hilarious that this city is more diverse and yet goes by the kingdom of darkness.

Ainz previous track record was that he didn't want innocents to die needlessly (like when he refused Entoma's request of innocent humans for food, only granting her those that were guilty of crimes), so I don't get why he didn't accept the full surrender of Zanac towards the end. His reason of going through the genocide was he didn't want to deprive his subordinates of the fun, but at that point they'd already had months of "fun", so if he really cared about making Nazarick stronger, having extra tens of millions of humans, instead of the few hundreds of thousands that they ended up with at their disposal, would have gone a long way to making Nazarick stronger than before. The only thing I can think of is that the author wanted to let the readers see how dumb Ainz actually was by making such a dumb decision (rejecting a full unconditional surrender) that doesn't really make sense (if what you're after is to make your side stronger) when you put just a minimal effort of thought into it.
