Loved your breakdown and enjoyed the video and content so much I subscribed. I am a big Warriors fan, and have been ever since the drafted Steph, who I loved since his college years, and always loved watching his dad play back in his years. I really thought that he might bring something special to the NBA, and so happy to see that I was right. My wife who I married ten years ago, fell in love with Steph after watching games with me and hearing about him from me. Point is that for her birthday on October 23rd, I am taking her to watch the opening night game at Portland right behind the Warriors bench! So we are very excited to get to see our first game live together sitting right by them as they start this new season! Your point on how little "shooting" the Warriors had on the team last year allowing defenses to swallow up Steph and ignore half of the court is key. Despite having Steph, the consistent VOLUME of quality shots from the 3pt compared to their opponents was one of the early signs to me that they had a chance when they won their last championship. Because once Poole started cooking a legit third threat on the floor, they could scramble the defense and that is what allows Steph to Steph things, and those things win rings. Buddy just has to be Buddy and that alone unlocks Steph more than Klay was able to do last year. Add ANY kind of ascension in Kuminga, ANY modest return of Wiggins to All-Star level, full season from Draymond, and ANY sort of improvement from the combination of TJD, Podz, and Moody and suddenly they look like a contender for a Top 6 seed. I have long believed that if this team has to start out really hot the first 30 games of the year, because their road schedule around the All-Star break is nothing short of brutal and in the competitive west, they will need every game to count.
Great breakdown Nick. The biggest factor for their success this season lies in their ability to defend with more capable combination of lineups. The offense is secondary but ofc also vital - Stotts was an incredible addition.
This is why players of the past would find it hard to adjust to the modern game, teams purely hunt 3's. The offense run actions to create space for open 3's. More chance to drive to open baskets from all that spacing, no more clogging the paint with defensive 3-second rule.
Players of the past would literally just play the way players are taught today so they (the greats) should be fine lol. Unless you mean if we transport old players to today and just have them play then ofc they’d struggle
@@4purs That's what I meant. I can only imagine the reaction from centers in the past been told "You're expected to shoot 3's, flare out the lane to the line and shoot from kickout passes".
Great video Coach. The three-ball has become so powerful in basketball that it's mind-boggling. Very glad to have a more in-depth look at this with the Warriors, especially as it relates to the difference between this season and last season. Keep up the great work! God bless.
This is pretty tangential to this video, but I think it's kind of hilarious that Buddy Hield had basically a season and a half worth of more games played in those 5 years and yet still only leads Curry by 58 total threes made.
Ive watched every Warriors preseason and the offense seems so much better compare t last year. All the new addition are looking good. Kaminga and Moody looking like they took another step. Well see how well the season goes for them but overall as a team theyre looking better than what i was expecting
i was hoping to see a video not bashing the warriors and one that’s completely unbiased. i’m glad bballbreakdown made one bc everyone is counting out the dubs like they don’t have a top 10 player and a top 10 pdefender
the media narrative already swayed away the casuals into thinking that warriors got no chance to be in the playoffs, heck none of them even think of warriors as contenders so I am excited when the warriors proves casuals wrong as usual 💀
Honestly, I'd expect Curry to thrive this season unless an injury or something tragic happens. Seems to be having a lot of fun out there and other players getting attention because of their shooting ability is only going to get him better looks. One thing that I could see becoming an issue for Steph is a situation where the defense decides to blitz, double or just guard him a bit heavier, despite other shooters being on the floor, since he hasn't been amazing at getting out of these situations throughout his career. I guess we just have to wait and see but as a Warriors fan this team makes me very excited, perhaps not in the sense that I expect a lot of wins, but the basketball being played is fun.
He's use to being blitzed and has handled it well. Klay was 0-10 in the play in last year and for most of last season he was dealing with Green bs, and injuries. Klay was shooting us out of games. Wiggins was mentally compromised also. He can't expect them to hit open shots, if 3 of the starters are doing this and then Kerr didn't even start Kuminga and TJD until the season was almost over? Kuminga had like 17 straight games of 20 or more points and TJD locked up Giannis in a crucial game, and was building steam but Kerr was on that bs. He has to actually coach this year, and not hold back the young guys like Moody, Kuminga and TJD rs!
Hot take, I think Stephs numbers will actually fall this year due to him getting to rest more and the ball movement and scoring being more spread out. I could him averaging like 22 or 23 points a game
Thanks, Coach. I love your deep dives, and I've been following the dubs since Run-TMC and Mullin. Can't wait to see the improved lineup. Just wonder if we still need to find a real center.
It is kind of amazing that Buddy has such a great make rate on his threes while being on teams where he really wasn't the first or second option. Dude can shoot. On a team like the Warriors, it might unlock him further.
Forcing opponents to play perimeter defense is what the Splash Brothers were built on. It made Dray the "point forward" that Don Nelson dreamed of. Now, Kerr is doubling down on the three. Buddy is legit. Steph is the man. Dray has improved at it and is greenlit. The picks and screens are all built for it. Victor and Nikola can block the perimeter shot, and have done. But perimeter defense by ALL big men - AD, Embiid, Zion, etc. is being CHALLENGED by this. Good video here shows the movement well.
Transition 3s are good, coach Nick. It's the only time you don't see a set defense, and your best players can scan and make the right decision. It's less for coaches to do if players like Curry and Hield can jack up a percentage of possessions early in the clock at their own discretion before a "real play" can be run, but that doesn't mean that's not what peak offense looks like.
I see this and wonder where all those "what do the GSW coaches do" criticisms come from 🙄 Movements like these are drilled and trained. They don't just happen by chance.
Steph Curry is once in a lifetime player. He literally turned Donte and Klay into double digit scorers. Buddy never played with a player like Steph Curry. So don’t be surprise he drops close to 20ppg this season because of curry. Expect a warrior vs Celtics rematch. Exciting
I am still quite concerned what happens when the threes don't drop. Many leads were blown in 2022-23 by insisting to hoist up threes when they were not falling and of course 0-27 should be a core memory.
With the Warriors' championship experience of Steph, Draymond, and coach Kerr, they'll make adjustments. The problem with the Rockets' 0-27 3pt FG in 2018 was that their offense relied so much on isolation. The Warriors were trigger happy as well, but they always run motion offense, with the exception of some isolation from Kevin Durant because he's one of the very best iso scorers of all time. Motion offense generates rhythm for all players. If the shots don't go in, as long as the quality of shot is great, just count it to a bad day.
this reminds me of the pre durant era brand of basketball - damn it'll be so irritating to guard and you cannot keep your pedal off when dealing with them
Coach Nick mentioned 6 shooters - who are they? 1. Curry 2. Hield 3. Melton 4. Moody 5. Podz Who's the 6th? Wiggins? Kuminga? GP2? Waters has been hot this pre-season but he's probably the 13th guy so will not see much playing time.
The Dubs only issue is that they do not have a big man to protect the paint. Maybe they get one in the trade deadline? Otherwise even though they will finish with a high seed, they will loose in the first, second, third and final round if they match up with a team that can go Big like the Lakers, Nuggets and Celtics when Porzingis gets back.
Buddy is a great replacement for Klay IMO. It hurts to see Klay leave even as a non Warriors fan, but Buddy Hield is a much better shooter than Klay at this point in time
Great analysis of the Warriors' new offensive strategy! Do you think Steph Curry's skills will adapt well to this change, or is this shift going to limit his impact on the game?
Our Chemistry and defense will show up. I've got a good feeling like 2022! Any adjustments will be made at the deadline. Warriors feel rejuvenated. New coaching staff.
Great video coach! Always a fan of the warriors style of play. Can someone explain the rules around screens? Nearly every screen I see looks like it's moving in my opinion. Draymond and looney look like they're homing missiles on screens. I don't understand how they aren't moving screens?
The problem is when the Warriors encounter a good perimeter defensive team. They don't have anything else. They just can't start pounding the ball inside with Kuminga or TJD. They just arnt built that way. Myself... If I see good perimeter defense... I'm pounding the ball into the paint.
What Coach breaks down is why I think Kuminga will end up being traded sooner rather than later. I like him but I'm not too sure how good he actually is. He's really athletic but his skills are questionable. He's not a good shooter, he's not a great defender, he's not a great passer, and he's about to be very expensive. It doesn't help that even counting the things he does well he's not a great fit in this offense. He's a prime asset however and GSW could possibly flip him for someone to better fill the defensive gap. They shouldn't worry about the future too much either. Maximize what Curry has left.
This team definitely has the talent to contend for a championship. But whether or not they actually win that 5th ring, is going to depend on one thing: Out of all the people NOT named Steph or Draymond - Who's gonna step up? With Klay gone, there's a huge hole and void there and this team needs one more legit star player to put them over the top. So who's it gonna be? Wiggins? Can he find his All-Star form again? Kuminga? Will he take that leap and become a legit all-star calibur player? Hield? Will he thrive and unlock a whole new level to his game playing next to Steph and Draymond? Will the other young guys like Moody, Podziemski, and Jackson-Davis continue to grow and evolve their games? So who's gonna answer that call?
I made this comment before that the Warriors rarely if ever had elite shooters everywhere. Always have had some streaky shooters in the starting line up like Green and Iguodala
7:15 this current warriors lineup definitely has an insane amount of shooters, but the starting lineup does not.... they're starting TJD, Dray, JK, Wiggins alongside Steph, so its still the same sht as last season for the starting lineup, and Steph would still have a damn hard time, and is the only one to carry the 3pt load. the bench is the ones that's going to have an easy time and shoot the lights out which is where literally all their shooters outside Steph is.
A thing I still as unproven is the defense. A big issue last year. Fast break 3s are great, but they work best when defense turns into offense. How will they be in half court sets? People may not realize the dynasty warriors had great defenses. Not just great offense
Run, run, run. With the Warriors depth and lack of height they need to move the ball and move off ball. Draw the bigs out to guard the 3 pt. line. And take "open" shots. And Steph, you can't throw the ball through a defender.
Is the offense really new though? I think the Warriors getting Buddy Hield to replace Klay made them contenders for sure, but this doesn't look THAT much different than what they were doing before Klay got injured.
Idk if the play at 2:30 is a good example for a "good look from the corner". If he misses that shot people are gonna be like: "why the hell did he shoot that?" 😅
Last season wasn't steph's lowest percentage from 3 in nine years, funny enough he shot a career low from 3 during the regular season in his last title season. Great video tho, as usual

Steph Curry is once in a lifetime player. He literally turned Donte and Klay into double digit scorers. Buddy never played with a player like Steph Curry. So don’t be surprise he drops close to 20ppg this season because of curry.
Expect a warrior vs Celtics rematch. Exciting
Lmao Warriors won't get out of the first round
If the shots don't go in, as long as the quality of shot is great, just count it to a bad day.
simple. they lose. that's why its a 7 games series

Great video we ain't get a warriors video in ah min thanks
this reminds me of the pre durant era brand of basketball - damn it'll be so irritating to guard and you cannot keep your pedal off when dealing with them
his lowest 3pt% was 2022 bro lmao
It's curry so the answer is yes
Coach Nick mentioned 6 shooters - who are they?
1. Curry
2. Hield
3. Melton
4. Moody
5. Podz
Who's the 6th?
Wiggins?
Kuminga?
GP2?
Waters has been hot this pre-season but he's probably the 13th guy so will not see much playing time.
wiggins
The departure of klay makes the ball movement more beautiful.....
Say no to iso-ball, say yes to controlled chaos
Finally!!! The Warriors BBall Breakdown Ive been waiting for. Mabuhay Coach Nick. PUSO!!!!
This might be the deepest NBA team I've ever seen. Their 13th best player is someone like Looney, GP2 or Kyle Anderson.
And Probably unpredictable team in NBA right now
I LOVE HOW YOU DO PLAY BY PLAYS... 🥰
Buddy is a great replacement for Klay IMO.
It hurts to see Klay leave even as a non Warriors fan, but Buddy Hield is a much better shooter than Klay at this point in time
The warriors today are like my own league team in 2k with zero fatigue, zero injuries and 99 in shooting that shoot ALOT of 3s. 👀👀👀👀
Great analysis of the Warriors' new offensive strategy! Do you think Steph Curry's skills will adapt well to this change, or is this shift going to limit his impact on the game?
If you watched the preseason you will know this team is a problem. They have too much depth that someone like GP2 might not play.
Warriors only missing a center they can trust
This is our year boys!!!!!!
I don't know if this is a recipe for winning basketball, but it's definitely a recipe for fun basketball
Refs need to start seeing the oddball moving screens (hard enough seeing the gather steps too)
I like how u never sleep on the warriors
Our Chemistry and defense will show up. I've got a good feeling like 2022! Any adjustments will be made at the deadline. Warriors feel rejuvenated. New coaching staff.
Just drafted curry for fantasy and this video gives me extra hope 😭
Coach. Make a video about the WNBA finals, please. It has been a series of close games.
The wolf of wall street clip, knowing what mcconaughey was talking about 😅😅
This team definitely has the talent to contend for a championship.
7:15 this current warriors lineup definitely has an insane amount of shooters, but the starting lineup does not.... they're starting TJD, Dray, JK, Wiggins alongside Steph, so its still the same sht as last season for the starting lineup, and Steph would still have a damn hard time, and is the only one to carry the 3pt load.
the bench is the ones that's going to have an easy time and shoot the lights out which is where literally all their shooters outside Steph is.
at 5:22 Steph's defender's knees are straight. He's checked out and not in the play. Thats why the pass to Steph is so free.
Thank you for this. Been hearing too many people claim they will be a play-in team!
The west is absolutely brutal so that's a possibility
@@bballbreakdownI rebuke you and your supreme intellect of basketball
@@swanronsonn😭😭😂
Letting them get Terry is crazy
Respecting thank you sports news highlights streaming listening live stream
This might be the best offense this year
showing steph hitting the backboard near the end there was devious
1:25 i’m sorry the *what* speed of the ball?
Kyle Anderson's game IQ is so underrated.
A thing I still as unproven is the defense. A big issue last year. Fast break 3s are great, but they work best when defense turns into offense. How will they be in half court sets? People may not realize the dynasty warriors had great defenses. Not just great offense
Dubs looking good after two games!
Splash Buddies will be fun to watch.
all they need is a guy 7 feet to protect the rim and they win the chip
So a motion based Morey Ball?
Harden Rockets style? I hear that even Looney is joining in the 3 point shooting!
Run, run, run. With the Warriors depth and lack of height they need to move the ball and move off ball. Draw the bigs out to guard the 3 pt. line. And take "open" shots. And Steph, you can't throw the ball through a defender.
I can already hear all the media old heads whining about how the game is boring because the amount of 3s that will be taken this year 😂
Title is a bit of a stretch, but the playoffs are looking a little better
Is the offense really new though? I think the Warriors getting Buddy Hield to replace Klay made them contenders for sure, but this doesn't look THAT much different than what they were doing before Klay got injured.
I think the Get Actions and flare actions are new
Idk if the play at 2:30 is a good example for a "good look from the corner". If he misses that shot people are gonna be like: "why the hell did he shoot that?" 😅
The Dubs' unrelenting pace and their passing could put them in the Finals with all those open looks and open layups.
SPLASH ARMY
Last season wasn't steph's lowest percentage from 3 in nine years, funny enough he shot a career low from 3 during the regular season in his last title season. Great video tho, as usual
Ive been watching your vids for the past few years and i just realized now that i havent subscribed to you these past few years 😂
