The biggest problem with this situation is that there is a lot of marketing that even though they are not *technically* marketed for kids, in practice they intentionally make these products more attractive than ever for young people
And its always the tobacco companies doing it. Most vaping products are not marketed in the same way as brands like Juul are. Most vaping companies can't even afford to market on the same scale as Juul does, because they aren't owned by multibillion dollar tobacco corporations.

but if you have had suicidal thoughts due to the patches and medication you are peddled to quit by drug companies and you fear for your own safety, dont buy a tobacco company's product that was illegally marketed and sold with a new concentrated nicotine that is 3 times the strength of traditional products to someone because they have to make a sales quota to ensure more product discounts. Go to a specialty shop with age restricted entrance as well knowledgeable staff that ID on purchase, have ID checking systems in place and that can help you eventually cut down on your usage as well as nicotine levels.

back in highschool, one of my friends was a vaper. he let me have one puff, and i was left craving more really badly.
it was terrifying. that's the moment i realized how slippery of a slope "just this once" is. i of course never did it again since then, but MAN did it open my eyes to how people manage to get addicted to stuff.
was it because it tasted/smelled good? Like one of the fruity ones? One of my hs friends let me try a puff of 1 normal cig and 1 blunt and i didnt like em, never felt anything afterwards

Joseph Calandria yes nobody said vaping is healthy or completely safe but I’ve finally gotten to the point using Juul that cigarettes are just foul to me. My next step is going to try patches in low doses til I finally stop the nicotine use all together
Just to clarify, it's not the THC that's the problem. It's some other dodgy substance in those illicit THC vapes.

that hospital visit definitely changed my viewpoint. ive been doing thc carts for about a year now and a couple of days ago, i was sent to the er because of a left side chest pain. all tests and xrays came out fine and they couldn't determine the cause of the pain, but i do know that my thc cart is going in the trash
Were the carts that you smoked from dispensaries or the streets? Curious as I smoke thc carts but it's legal in my state

@@quiplooive experienced something similar to this, didn't go to hospital just tried to forget about the mild pain and pressure in my left lung eventually it went away, sometime I feel a little too pulse of pain every now and then but it's a mild pain
The 1st day I vaped never smoked again, then I just kept lowering the nicotine level until I finally quit it's been a couple years now it was a great thing

I vaped for like a month, then went back to american spirits for a few more years, set a date and quit with those little nic patches. Been off since april '19. Those patches destroy the 'want' but not the shadow habits. (I.e. putting something up to your face)

@@carmenbecker9183 That's not always the case. A friend of mine works in Maryland's medical marijuana business and they do test and regulate their products. In-fact when all the news concerning vitamin E acetate started circulating all vapes were tested a second time as a safety precaution. This may not be true everywhere, but I can say for sure that in Maryland medical THC vaping products are safe.

I vaped for four years, it helped me go nicotine free after 26 years of being a pack a day smoker. I probably would’ve quit vaping earlier but I enjoyed my pink lemonade flavor, and I believe finding a flavor I enjoyed allowed me to cut my nicotine out of my juice completely over time. After a week of vaping I felt better than I did being a smoker and now I do neither and I feel great.
I think it could be used like this for most individuals it would be helpful. Perhaps it’s just me but I noticed that many of the particular cases cited were THC cartridges. I’ve never liked the Vape personally. Congratulations.

No. Not everything think is an addiction. Exercising may make you happy but it isn’t putting toxic, addicting, chemicals in your brain. It’s just giving you dopamine or serotonin I think.

I smoked tobacco for 5 years. and i've been vaping for 5 years after that. The quality of addiction is much different.
TObacco addiction is predominantly caused by harmaline and harmine, beta-carbolines which function as monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Inhibiting the breakdown of tryptamine compounds such as serotonin(and psychedelic drugs) the short boost of serotonin(5-HT), followed by a decrease in the 5-ht, causes a physical addiction to tobacco.
Pure nicotine does not function this way. In my experience nicotine on its own is a psychological addiction. I stopped vaping or 2 weeks to observe the effects on my body and mind. Although i was a bit more irritable... it was nothing compared to a real tobacco withdrawal.

For what it's worth, collegue of mine did some research on vaping and found a correllation between the number of coils, the temperatures reached, and the metals used in the heating coils and harmful chemicals produced such as Vitamin E Acetate and formaldehyde. If I recall correctly there was a range where only trace amounts of these chemicals were present - those designs also don't produce large clouds which is a common selling point for consumers.

*I vaped for 2 years starting back in 2013. Towards the end days of my vaping, I would almost always get hiccups after inhaling, chest pains would appear randomly. This chest pains don't come anymore after stopping. I'm actually not surprised ppl are dying from it. We must never forget, doctors used to suggest cigarettes to pregnant women... the point is, there aren't a lot of studies done on vaping, we might find in ridiculous to use in the future*

@Cheech Whit Inhalers just use a propellant and chemicals to keep the medicine in an even solution distribution. There's actual pharmacology that the manufacturers stick to. They don't need to use heating equipment in inhalers, they're not cutting with vitamin E, they're not concerned with special flavors, and they will never come with cannabinoid or nicotine mixtures. It's really nothing alike.

I think the thing that attract teen users is not the enticing flavors, but all those cool vaping tricks videos on Instagram. If i saw those videos when i was a teen, i would want to try it for sure. Also i think the e-cig flavors serve a positive purpose such as reducing "sweet tooth" craving for the users and for me mainly the vapor smell is not obnoxious like normal cigarette does. Mind you, i do not smoke nor vape so this is not an objective opinion.

i vaped a lot through highschool and mid junior year i realized i should quit i dont vape regularly anymore maybe once or twice the last few years. The only reason it started was peer pressure so you know how that story works.

Vapers aren't 'losers' by any means. If they are, so would be cigarette smokers, alcohol drinkers and even coffee drinkers. Or people who like to eat sugar.
To be perfectly honest it managed to help my mom quit and she has testimony from one COPD patient where it helped him breath easier. Keep in mind neither used products like JUUL or cannibanoids and they both bought from companies they had researched and trust so I feel its a matter of particular chemicals in juice mixes that should be outlawed not vaping as a whole. I would also like to make a case for moderation and proper oversight.
As a 30 year old, 10 year smoker I did go from having difficulty breathing and resurgence of my asthma to having greatly reduced problems. I still use my inhaler about twice a month. I was using it everyday
I also believe if I do decide to quit it will be easier to quit vaping. There's something in cigarettes that hits the brain better then vaping
Yeah tobacco contains a number of potentially addictive alkaloids besides nicotine, which happens to just be the only well researched one. I found it impossible to quit cigarettes without switching to some nicotine substitution, but easier to taper and quit vape. I do think the vape does a number on my lungs, but not nearly as bad as cigarette.
But I've been vaping again. I need stimulating chemicals. I have been diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood, but currently can't get access to medication.
It hits different because vapes are useless if you need nicotine like every cigarette addict does. I've never felt nicotine from a vape
@@SianaGearz Not saying you shouldn't get them, but if you do keep in mind most ADHD medications are also extremely addictive. I've been taking adderall for years and still often have to really force myself to control the dose.
@@nuuuuuut I'm aware. Personally find addictiveness of ritalin to be pretty well under control for me personally, but I've seen some people uh go a little a lot excessive and out of control. One of my problems were terrible digestive side effects, but an option for me was to take less and buffer with Venlafaxine. Currently can't get anything though.
@@SianaGearz recently saw a news article about a study on addictive antidepressants and venlafaxine was one of the 4 mentioned. just thought it was funny since you are talking about addiction, then mentioned venlafaxine which I had just saw this news article about, took me years to taper off venlafaxine (Effexor) just a heads up if / when you try to taper off. I have family history of ADHD but not diagnosed, I took it for depression anxiety but it made me more anxious I think it gave me serotonin syndrome. Interesting how conditions manifest differently and medications work different for different people. I was on low dose but for 10 years. Hoping you can get your meds and manage your ADHD the best way for you. :)

Vaping is one of those things that it's impossible to have an honest discussion about. Most people that do it take it very personally and will dismiss any health concerns out of hand. Even if it does genuinely turn out to be health-neutral (which I seriously doubt), that's still a horrible position to take.

I smoked marijuana once, just enough that I felt happy and complete (but can still think straight and act my normal self). I really remembered that feeling and I now apply it to my meditation. It’s a lot happier of a life when you can experience the completeness that marijuana can give you.
Edit: I literally only smoked it once. When you realize you are in control of your mind and learn how to do so, you don’t need medicine every day.

Drowning in fluids and chemical burns are very much aligned. Keep in mind that these burns are not from excessive heat, these are chemical in nature. They cause inflammation, which basically is liquids going the wrong way. So getting your alveolars burned is a sure way to drown, since they are going to be filled with excessive amount of liquids.
