How is a fireplace an expense if never used. 😆 Also for the few months it can be used a year - houses tend to last for decades. Small price to pay (cents) when you look at daily use over decades.
@@KMACRealty Even when not in use but also when in use they draw air through the house - increasing your heating bill. In addition they do require maintenance (particularly in CA and other places near fault lines) but other concerns such as spalling and other concrete decay. No one wants to haul wood in and if you do use it in daily use - yay - you get to hire a chimney sweep as the creosote can create a fire hazard as well as build up so that your room is filled with smoke as there isn't enough draw. Fireplaces were a decent idea about 200 years ago. But like trepanation, not a great idea anymore. Also they tend to be right where you'd want to put a TV - requiring an expensive electric mount to lower the TV - however if the fireplace is used it can damage the TV (not to mention the fumes ruining the antireflective coating. Then there is the space they take up as square footage is at a premium these days and rarely does the fireplace serve a purpose on the upper floors.

Great it has fireplace that will never get used but is a source of continuous expense. Got used twice, just like that tub and moonroof on the car.

@@KMACRealty Odd - I replied in great detail on why fireplaces are endless moneypits but it was removed.
Did they forget to add a window on the top right side?
