The Pioneer definitely needs to be reconcepted. It was designed for building and placing the old Hab modules, which is now very different to what base building looks like. At the very least, some of the buildings we have seen are just too tall - they would collide with the crane gantry in the Pioneer. It also doesn't make sense for the Pioneer to build in a completely different way to all of the other constructors, which look like they 3D print structures in-place with drones. Additionally, they have now merged "base building" and "construction" into the same profession, so I expect the Pioneer to become the top tier general purpose manufacturing/factory ship.
The Pioneer could build the top of the structure first, then raise it up on jacks to add the next lower floor, then rinse-repeat for the entire structure. Another possibility would be for the Pioneer to build the foundation & first floor, then hover upwards as it builds the higher floors.
Pioneer will be available for IAE, but I don't expect it to be used for a while. First "base building" will probably be with the ground vehicle...then after that, Galaxy. The structures the Pioneer can build won't even be in game to build for a few years. I'd love to see it sooner, but I don't see base building coming out in any meaningful way for a while.
The pioneer and the galaxy are currently the only two know ships that have base-building options, they may make a smaller ship for like scouting that has a base-building part where its for outposts for claiming the land before the larger ships come and fully deck out the area.
@@jeathvader I am holding out some hope that we will eventually get a construction module for the Carrack. Maybe one tier below the Galaxy module, equivalent to the Ballista constructor vehicle we saw at last year's citizencon.
I dont think there can be any doubt this ship is going to be bigger! We can see the structures being setup in these renderings are the old habitats and structures and we already know the new ones are almost double in size and scale.
They have their work cut out for the Pioneer. First off Consolidated Outland only has smaller ships, so they don't have a large design archive like Aegis or RSI. Plus it has a lot of moving parts. Would be easier to start with a small base building ship then do the Pioneer. Think of doing the Prospector before working on the Orion,.
CIG show a ground base not so long ago. Base building is far away: we need the tech , multiple systems, a lot of space to place bases, and harvestable like planetary resources available for us. Is a lot of stuff to have before base buildings
The concepts remind me of the mobile shipyards from home world 2. This ship will need an adequate supply chain/economy running behind it. And the bases should also be destroyable, So we can do it over and over again. That should be considered 1.0 leaving CIG to fill in the gaps later. That's my idea.
A bit suprised but it makes sense that CIG want to fast track base building because it is such a large part of the game (it can be) as well as a huge money sink and something for players to do. It will help with keeping players immensely and make them money. The question is when they will release it but I imagine it might be sooner than we expect if they are planning on talking about it this much.
I'd love to have the pioneer! I'd melt my felt to be able to get one but lord I got some saving to do especially since that AU conversion to USD is killer hahaha! The idea I can be a flying factory for the peeps in the verse! The idea makes me melt!
base building... is not a selling point for a high end gaming experience ist literally a todd howard timesink mechanic/game development money saving device
You do know that base building and how it works has changed from when they introduced the Pioneer? They have a clearer vision of how it needs to work, which they didn't have back then. So how they describe the base building in that video, might not be what we will get.
@@matteobarbarini3120 more or less, yes. In the presentation they showed a picture of a drone, filling up a hologram slice by slice. So it seems to be more like a 3d printer afterall.
How weird. I'm subscribed with all notifications, but didn't see this video until someone posted it in Discord. Not only didn't get a notification on my phone, even YT itself doesn't say anything about you putting it up.

Zero shot on the pioneer. CSV will be sold as a 4SCU capable Mule and the fabrication model will be concept only. Everything else will be discussion only. Base building 2+ years in the distance. Polaris isn't out so Galaxy isn't out. Perseus may even beat it to market.
I feel like they'll be talking about not only the Pioneer and RSI Galaxy, but also announce various construction vehicles during the Citizencon panel
Argo pickup, size of the Mule.

Starlancer BLD. Why has no one else drawn this conclusion yet?

I also would love to own 1 of those. Will most probably be more than 100 mil UEC in game, if you are ever going to be able to buy it in game.

SQ42 has large Consolidated Outland transport ships that look closely like the Pioneer so they have a material library set already.
No, John crew said RSI.

How much do they run?
The Pioneer itself has never spoken to me, but what it represents does.
Yes we will see it. AI told me this 🙂
I really wanna see an environment where dedicated ships work way better than multirole ones.
yea now it will be Bengal size for sure
Let's see if how much we'll be able to do initially.
Can't wait for base building

Heeeeell no, but we will get a new large RSI concept building ship😂
So the animations of the building of structures will no longer be how it builds as stated in last CitizenCon there will be drones 3D printing now.

they also look like 3d printers. I hope this doesn't turn into most people not being able to afford any type of hab.
hey
Yeah no, the galaxy and the Pioneer are still far aways. They will go from ground up and start with the small and medium vehicles first
I really do not get what "fabrication" is
2nd
3d printed ikea quality
STOP PUMPING THIS SHIP!!!
I wanna buy one at IAE this year…. Derp.
I think nope
How much do they pay you to market their scam ?
I am so happy I decided "not" to buy this for real $$$....
Please gift me polaris 🙄
