Wow, I didn’t think I’d every see one of those again. I used to be a Groundsman at a cricket club over 12 years ago and we had one of those in the back of the shed. I got that going as well having been sat for at least 20 years.
James, my sincere apologies for not responding to you sooner! I check for comments regularly but for some reason yours didn't come up. They are a rare sight I'd imagine now. Even finding someone that knows the correct technique to start one now would be difficult. I need to get it out it out mowing now that the rain has finally stopped here.
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………..WAY cool, free, and you got it running! That’s a combination that can’t be beat! I hope to see you cutting grass with it, although it looks like it will be hard to handle, but I got confidence in you!! LOL!
🙂👍 thanks!! Very generous of the former owner, he just wanted saved from the scrap heap if possible. I can't wait to get it cutting, nice stripes on the lawn. Thanks again for supporting the channel.
Good evening Dave That's a nice old mower it brings back memories, there used to be an old neighbour beside me when I was a young lad that had one. Are you going to give up all these projects and become a trucker 😉
Tank looked like it could do with a wash out with rustoliam lol. Old fuel left over from the dinosaurs lol. I remember cranking the old man's 2 & quater series 3 when the starter motor went boy that was some thing to turn. Sometimes it pays to take a break from them and go back to it you got her running now though after the carb cleaning. Not a bad sounding machine. A little bit of Tlc and she will be fine. 👌👍
@@davesworkshop2714 Yeah all good here Dave been busy fixing motors the weather has been nice was over on the West at beginning of week working holiday. Bought a little Astra mk4 for the tool's needs some Tlc but I will get there. 👌
Hey Dave haven’t heard from ya in awhile I hope you are doing ok!! Really miss seeing your old mug on the screen haha hope everything is well with you and your family. C ya brother take care!!
Hey Darrell, all is good thanks. Been working on several new videos but it's taking some time. Hoping to have on done and up this weekend. Hope you are doing ok buddy!
Man U sure got a workout while making this video Dave!! Your arm is gonna look like popeye the sailor man haha 😊 I enjoyed watching you get this thing going I have a old greens mower that is a lot like this one, they sure made things beefy back then!! That thing looks like it’s been sitting more than 15 years more like 25yrs lol but man that engine runs pretty good wonder if u can cut off the starter handle and put it in a drill for easy starting? It’s such a cool machine, kinda pointless for cutting grass now but some real old iron on that thing!! Looking foreward to more vids your almost at 1000 😀
Getting there slowly lol. It looks like someone may have tried fitting a starter before, there's a v belt pulley welded into the middle of the starter handle. To be honest, now that I've learnt how to start it properly, it's easy enough to fire up. Looking forward to doing some cutting 🙂👍
"first start in 15 years. Will it start" Kinda spoiled that with the title 😂 Cant belive that actually starte up, great job Dave.
😊
😂😂 didn't think of that!

Beautiful 👌👍
Thanks!!!!
Almost looks brand new! Old stuff is usually much harder to kill that the plastic rockets we have nowadays.
It's pretty indestructible alright I'd say. The difficult part is finding someone that knows the correct way to start a hand cranked engine!
@@davesworkshop2714 haha! Yes a lot of the time human error is the biggest problem.
A fantastic mower.. I have a Dennis z type and an Atco Standard..
Thanks for watching Mick. Must get back to work on it in spring.

😂 no, I just need a licence so I can bring bigger projects home 🙂👍. Thanks for watching Mickey! Hope all is well.
All good here thank god just waiting for good weather to get my refurbed cab onto the 814 and get some ground cleaned up
@@mickeyvfr98 we could do with a few good weeks 🙄
Long overdue at this stage and the weeks are slipping by 🙈🙈
My only consolation is that my hay is in glass so I can't cut until July 1st, and the CAT isn't ready to roll yet, but hopefully soon.

A tip.. -Next time, you should try to start old engine. drip some oil into the cylinder. you get the comp if the rings are tied.
Thanks, very good tip! I'll give it a shot. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.

I have the same mower in my shed I don't have cabarator for it do u know where I could get one thanks
Mark, where are you based? I would imagine you'd get one easily enough in the UK.
nothing like a cut and not whipped for a healthy lawn
I'm looking forward to testing it out properly in the spring 👍
