Well Dave, just come across your channel, we’ve had David brown’s here from the early 80’s, every time I change the filters I have to tow to fire again, something about them they just need that extra bit of spin after bleeding so all’s not lost if she doesn’t fire off the starter! Excellent channel, love this sort of stuff! Keep up the good work, John, Co Tyrone 👍👍

its the fuel issue ,forget the compression test, spray check the injectors on a bench , the pumps on them yokes are troublesome sometimes , even changing a filter is a boobee trap, have it checked over , and use a 12v pump as a lift pump off a battery and she will run

When they are stuck like that - its never worth it trying to break them free - just pull the head and check valve seats and cylinder bores. Big end caps off and knock the pistons out - rings will be stuck/rusty/broken and valve seats will be corroded.

I think once you get a geared starter for her. Fix the leak in the pump check for compression thats probably the main cause of it not starting. There was a lot of water in it there could be a problem with the valves not shutting causing a lack of compression. 🤔 Still think its worth while
