The extremely difficult to find demo version of Rusted Wheel. It's the first version I ever heard, so I thought it was the album version. And it's my favorite version.
Jordan Greczkowski yeah it definitely feels like a studio version. Possibly a b-side/hidden track on a pre-pikul release maybe? Sounds very similar to their sunset junction and self titled ep releases they put out before signing to dangerbird. Nevertheless thanks so much for finding this and posting it, it’s awesome to hear an even better version of my favorite song
No prob! I like this version way more as well. I wish it was easier to find because my hard drive crashed once but I had it burnt on a CD. Otherwise, this would've been even harder to find
This version of the song comes from a CD called the Fold Compilation. A bunch of great local bands from the time are on it, like Earlimart and alaska! and Midnight Movies. I'd highly recommend finding a copy, they occasionally pop up on Discogs: www.discogs.com/Various-The-Fold-Compilation/release/1410189
I grew up listening to this version on long car trips across Australia. The album version is great, but you can't beat the sweet sound of nostalgia.
I don’t know how 12 year old me stumbled on to this version of this song but I sure am happy that 26 year old me found it after all these years
I've been looking for this version of the song for YEARS. I thought it was lost in history
I could send it to anyone interested unless you know how to download it from here already
This version of the song is so much better. Way slower and clearer instrumentals. Album version sounds really rushed.
absolutely incredible and makes me wanna cry
Been looking for this, thank you!
Love this version!
Shout out to DC101!
Where did you find this version? It’s incredible
Limewire 10 years ago. Idk the true origination of this track. Someone once said an iTunes acoustic set but it sounds like a studio recording for sure

The same thing happened to me, I have this version and couldn't find it anywhere! I was about to upload a video when I found this.
Is there a way you can share the audio file?
