I have an acoustic version of Rusted Wheel, I don't know if that's what you're talking about, might be. And I've never heard of a demo version for Little Lover's So Polite but I'll look into it.
I have all their demo songs, I might upload Lazy Eye soon but Booksmart Devil and Kissing Families pretty much sound the same as their album versions, so I won't bother with uploading them.
My best guess would be an NYC Big Muff, one of the big box ones you can pick up brand new, but it could be a Fuzz Factory. No one really knows what he was using when, and on top of that, if you know what he was using and you listen, it doesn’t sound like it at all. The best example is the fuzz on Melatonin. But to answer your question, a ZVex Fuzz Factory or an Electro Harmonix Big Muff Pi.
