    Solid review. Speaking to the ruggedness; I've had this mounted on an SR25 ACC for 7 months or so, and have about 1100 rounds in that time. The scope has held up very well against the heat, cold and dust, here in Northern Nevada. So far the bell around the objective lens has suffered a dent at 12 o'clock,. I throw my rifles in the back seat, patrol with them, and use them hard. This dent is a result of my rough handling.

    Based off this review (& a few others!), I took the leap & bought the RS27 [Red MOA] 1-8x28 Accupower scope - sale for $860!! It’s SO MUCH Better than ANY scope I’ve EVER owned (Leupolds, ACOG TA01-NSN,Vortex Viper, etc.)- Great Review and THX!! FYI: using it on my POF P415 Edge Gen 4 5.56 AR. Superb Combination🇺🇸

      Late reply.....
      OpticsPlanet had them available for under $900 around 4 years ago.
      Here it is summer of 2024, and used examples of these 1-8x28 Accupower LPVOs are selling for around $1.2k WITHOUT a scope mount.
      I have mine in a SPUHR QD mount ($600 awesomeness) on a Robar NP3+ finished POF P308 SPR Gen4 EDGE (piston driven AR-10).
      This Trijicon Accupower has the MOST forgiving eyebox of all the LPVOs I've gotten behind.
      I wouldn't consider selling mine for

    A Night Force 2.5-10x24 is 17 oz. and smaller in overall size. I use mine with an angled T1. The t1 is about 3oz I think, so about 20 oz over all without mounts. Larue mounts are relatively light. What really makes it nice is that you are able to leave your angled red dot on while you clip on your IR Hunter mk II. Makes it really nice when moving in and out of artificial light. I loose that ability when going straight to a single dedicated day optic.

    • @andy366919
      @andy366919 7 років тому +1

      delta3two It depends on a lot of different variables. Is first focal plane a plus when shooting long range precision? Yes. It is, and that's why I have one on my bolt gun. In fact I run a leupold mark 6 3-18 and it's awesome. The first focal plane is nice for lots of different reasons as I don't need to explain. But, on a 2.5 to 10, it's not exactly necessary for it to be 1st focal plane. I find myself running it on the 2.5x, 4x, or 10x. When I'm running it on 2.5 and 4x I'm within 150 yards and my ballistic drop is rather insignificant. Much further than that and I turn up my power to 10x. So basically, anything after 150 stays on 10x . Not much of an issue for me. In the world of scopes, 10x isn't that much anymore and I never find my self scaling back at distance. I have never run into any problems with my setup and I use it extensively from cqb-800 yards. I do sometimes wish I had more magnification at distance but I'm not willing to take on the extra weight and bulk. Also, my angle aimpoing didn't work with my Leupold 1-8 cqbss. It was cumbersome and annoying. So why have an angled red dot when you have a 1-8? Because I need a day optic for when clearing a room with white light on or doing react to white light drills at night. It's also there because I run a thermal scope at night (IR Hunter mkII). I unclip the 2.5-10 and place the mk2 on when desired. I do this because I don't like clip on's because I don't like all that weight out front. Anyway, my thumbs are getting tired. I personally don't feel that first focal plane is worth taking on the extra weight and bulk thus sacrificing maneuverability. To each their own I guess

    tried one of these for about a month and liked it for the most part. Tried a PA 1-8 plat with the griffin reticle and sold my trij the next week. Both good, but much preferred the PA, a big part of it is the reticle. I did prefer the green on the Trij, but agree on the brightness.

    Aaron, Great review sir. Glad to hear you have been able to find these in the $1,100 price range. I think I can find a way to swing that! This is going to be my next scope unless I hear of any major problems over the next month or so. I have a couple of the Accupower 1-4x24'a. Great scopes but just not enough magnification for any moderated distance shooting at smaller targets past 100 yards. I think this right here is the ticket to address that issue. Keep up the great videos sir!

    IOR Valdada scopes from europe have a 1-10x26 rifle scope. I don't know how available they are in the USA, but you might at least try to get your hands on one. However, the price is relatively high. I have seen them for around 1500€, but they might be 2000$ after import to the states...

    Agree with all the points you made on the turrets, but if I had it my way the windage turret would be just a regular ol capped low profile knob with no zero reset or anything like that. If you're dialing for wind with a scope like this, you're doing it wrong. Might as well cut the weight, bulk, and maybe a little cost. Also wish the throw lever was a little bigger.

    I just bought one of these. I found I could NOT get the reticle to close on zero. I found a YT post where a guy illustrated this problem.

Big purchase sight unseen. How do they compare on 1x? How is the eye box and eye relief on both. Which one is more red dot like and is the most forgiving with head placement? Is the mk6 worth the extra 500$ plus? I can tell you like them both but is the mk6 and it's almost 10 oz lighter weight that much better glass wise or options wise. Thanks. It's a tough choice.

    Aaron, this the second video in which you refer to the objective lens diameter as the field of view. I have subscribed and enjoy your videos because you seem to have a very solid understanding of a wide variety of technical issues but this is one area where your description is flawed. A larger diameter objective lens does not equate to a wider field of view. Field of view is given in degrees, milliradians or feet at 100 yards or meters at 100m. Eye relief also plays a part in determining field of view. That is one reason why the 4x32mm ACOGs have such a short eye relief....so that it can increase the available field of view.

      My 16 is fantastic, no issues and runs like a clock, and i carried an m14 for quite a few deployments and that's when my love affair started. the scar took down a vortex razor 1-6 gen 2, 4-16 nightforce atacr, and a trijicon srs. All optics that I love and have run hard before and after(all got repairs under warranty). No doubt the scar is a fantastic rifle, and when ran professional when replacement parts and broken shit comes out of the army's dime not yours I wouldn't mind, but when its my wallet I cant do it. Look towards chris bartoccis channel for more insights into the issues with the 17 overall, mine mirrored that essentially.

      Colin Richard It has nothing to do with the harmonics and everything to do with the heavy SCAR bolt slamming forward. Scopes are typically built to handle recoil and typically don't have to deal with such heavy forward forces.

    Given the $400-$500 difference...(and the weight of the Trijicon 1-8X.) Would you choose the Leupold mark VI 1-6??

    Aaron, how are you liking the sight picture when using that LPVO with the 12 o'clock mounted illumination? It's something I've been a little concerned about when building a similar setup.

    • @SageDynamics
      @SageDynamics  7 років тому +2

      ILicence my light is at the 3, it's a DBAL at 12. It's sits in the lower 1/3 on 1x. Not too bad. You can get around it by getting a higher mount.

    I cannot decide between this and the Leupold MK6. I don't really think I need the extra 2X but I guess it can't hurt. Yeah this has a little bit better field of with the larger objective however I'm not sure it's worth the extra weight. I don't have the ability to compare them in person. If you're selling the MK6 and buying two more Trijicons, then its advantages must outweigh it's negatives, correct?

    Aaron, how does the illumination work compared to the MK 6 1-6? I have the MK 6 on a work gun and the only down side I can find is the reticle does not appear to illuminated unless you are directly behind the scope. If your a little off you can't see the illumination. Thanks. I'm considering this scope for a personal rifle.

  • @TurdFergusson318
    @TurdFergusson318 6 років тому

    Other then the magnification aspect aspect does the scope compare with the Accupower 1-4x24? Things like glass clarity, features, overall construction durability? I'm relatively new to scopes, but I'm realistic in the fact, it's unlikely I'll be engaging targets past 300 yards. I know a 1x4 four is adequate for those distances but should I save up and go for a 1-6 or 1-8.

    Is the BDC configured for yards or meters? I heard you mention meters in the video, but I was not sure if that's because of the optic, or what you are used to saying. Also, what yard zero did you decide on this?

    Do you need 8x on that type of rifle? Or 6x for that matter? Also a question to ask is how much bulk and weight , if any, is saved by having lower magnification optic

      Uhh.. it's 2022 and these are selling used for $1000 IF you can find one. That should be all you need to know. Everything else is a glorified red dot with glass made overseas and marketed heavily to people that don't know any better and just want to waste their money.

      82rocksolid it’s still a good optic but better choices exist. ATACR or Vortex E Razor come to mind.

      @@SageDynamics Well hopefully I like it, I snagged one for $850.00 for a Black Friday special. Hoping I made a good choice. Didn't wanna spend over $1,200 on one but wanted a good one. ATACR is a little out of my budget for this platform and the Razor E is awesome as well. Its just going on a 14.5 Radian Mod 1 so hopefully I like it. If not I guess I'll sell it or find something else to put it on. Fingers are crossed.... It comes in the mail on Wends. so any words of encouragement you have will help haha!
