      Just check the weather before you go. I used to drive back and forth through the Ice Fields Parkway a couple times a month to see family in BC when I was working up in Rocky. One time the ice was so bad that I had both passenger side tires on sheer ice and I had to go 30-40 kph for most of the way from the southern start all the way to Saskatchewan Crossing and it took way longer than it usually does, very tiring and stressful too, because nobody else was out there. If I had crashed or broken down I would’ve been stranded until the next person drove that way.

The AWD Sienna XSE cannot come with the dark 20'' wheels like yours had, only silver 18" wheels. Also, AWD Siennas have the "AWD" badge in the back, which this one did not have. Only saying so because as good as this one was in the snow, imagine how much better the AWD version would have been!

    • @MustDoCanada
      @MustDoCanada  3 роки тому

      Hmm, well from Banff to Jasper, winter tires (or all-weather with the snowflake) are mandatory. Otherwise, you don't technically need them but they help. I prefer Toyo all-weather tires rather than having two sets. If you only have summer tires, it may not be a good idea because the highway can be quite icy.

    I'm not sure about the vehicles in Canada, But the XSE and the Platinum models with 20" wheels in America do not have an all-wheel-drive option. I believe it was due to the extra load o the larger wheels with the addition of an extra traction motor placed on the hybrid system. Also, the AWD emblem would have been placed on the vehicle that you were driving if equipped. This is a good thing though as I also have a new 2021 XSE which I have yet to drive in bad weather conditions. If you felt it handled as well as you have mentioned and it did not have the AWD system as you thought then this proves their drivetrain is well balanced.

      Good point. Yes, we realized this later, and yes it still performed well :)

    • @sal98
      @sal98 3 роки тому +1

      The more I drive this vehicle the more I’m impressed by it’s features and drivetrain. One question though, how long did it take to warm the cabin in these colder climates. The heater does not blow really well in my vehicle at first start, but maybe this was designed this way to heat the engine faster.

    • @MustDoCanada
      @MustDoCanada  3 роки тому

      @@sal98 We sometimes found it that way as well actually. It did take a bit longer to heat up than other vehicles. We didn't pat attention enough to draw a conclusion, but I wish we had. It wasn't a big concern though...

    Hi. I' have been watching your video. It gives me an an idea on where to go or plans our trip. This coming March we are planning for a long drive to Banff from Saskatchewan. I would like to ask how is the restriction? Is all the business open right now. Thanks and have a safe trip. Stay safe.

      As of now, restaurants are opening up again next week, but it's hard to say by then. They should be open, both to in-service and take-out, and most activities are open. Some hikes, like Johnston Canyon are closed without a guide, but that's about it. Oh, the hot springs are closed as well

    Hi! Is November a good month to visit? My husband and I will spend his bday there next month and I will be around 7 months pregnant too. What time of the month did you guys go?

    • @MustDoCanada

      I think so. We went in January. November is the shoulder season I think. Skiing might not be open but there will likely be some snow. Either way, it'll be beautiful :)

    Just watch your video.. thanks for the tips.. we are planning to go to banff then jasper next month.. you said its mandatory to have winter tire to drive at icefields parkway.. we already book a car rental but they said tbey only have all season tire.. i wonder if you can share, if you also rent a car? And where? I really dont wanna miss the drive at icefields parkway.. so i am planning ahead.

    • @MustDoCanada
      @MustDoCanada  2 роки тому

      Yes, I don't know why rental car companies aren't ahead of this. They need to have the snowflake symbol. www.pc.gc.ca/en/pn-np/ab/jasper/activ/activ-experience/hiver-winter/pcghiver-ipwinter

      We didn't rent a car as we either have our own or work with Toyota. They usually put all-weather tires on which have the snowflake symbol

    My God it looks so amazing out there. I have never been out west. I NEED to make this trip because it looks so beautiful. 🎶 Karla, you are crazy🎵🎶😘😂 So apparently the cold weather irritates your nose and drys it out so your body makes extra mucus to keep your nostrils moist and it drips. Sounded official to me. Hahahahaha ❤️🇨🇦❤️ Cheers!!!

    • @MustDoCanada

      The only thing that can be "unsafe" is the slippery roads. IF possible, try and have winter or snowflake-rated tires but otherwise, just drive a bit slower, brake in advance, and be cautious.
