Jaelen, do not hesitate to post the wins as well as the less successful hairstyles. I appreciate your transparency and it's all part of your journey. Loving your videos!
I really love the hair diaries😊. It's a clever way to track your journey, interesting and we learn from it, too. Thanks for spoiling us with another video❤.
I LOVE that we’re experiencing together! This is the length that a lot of us get “stuck” at and most of the Natural hair UA-camrs show styles that can contribute to growth BUT from a longer hair perspective. We definitely know you can grow your hair. But I personally need this “in the meantime” help! Thank you 🥂😂❤
As a tribal hairstyle girlie, I would love to see you rock some mini twists with beads ☺️ when I do mine I leave them in for about 2 weeks while scalp oiling & moisturizing my hair every couple days. My hair has grown so much in twists. The beads are just a fun pop of color 😊
Yes!! The vision is there, it’s just not yet completed. She gotta dress it up frfr with some banging hoops, put on a little makeup & get dressed. It’ll come together afterwards
But I wanted to stop you when I saw that mousse smh. I only use that when I’m wearing twists as a style. The Doux is a better one for hold. It looks like my first perm rod set after my big chop. I ended up picking it out completely for a perfectly rounded 70s fro-tube top midi, bell bottoms, wedges, big shades and earrings. It was a much appreciated summer VIBE everywhere I went. That was the day I learned: it was no longer possible to have a bad hair day. I was saved.
I’m just now coming out of the awkward phase and it was a STRUGGLE so I felt this!! My go to was a wash and go and if I was going out, I would slick it back and slap a ponytail on it 🙃😂
It's so validating to see this! Thanks for sharing and being transparent. For years I have tried styles I see these yt girlie's do and it never comes out the same. It hit me that hair behaves differently at different lengths, even the exact same curl pattern acts different when the length is there to weight it down. We are at about the same length now that you have cut so we are truly in this together!!!❤
This is how all my styles turn out…when I do it. Everyone always thought I had a wig on til they got to know me and knew homey don’t play that. Since I’m going thru a rough time I’m doing my hair for the first time too. I’ve learned to plan and give it time to fall in recent years. Unfortunately it is so thin now I’m guessing bc of age, meds and me trying to learn this new natural hair. I wish I could show u😢 anyhooo I’m gonna try the finger coil and the miche wash and go to see if that’ll retain some length and get me on track🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
We have the same length hair now and I do wet bantu knots when i want to do a mini afro or a curl pineapple. You can also do it on dry on stretched hair for a weighted curly look.
I can definitely understand the disappointment. I cut my hair and got a fade in 2022, 2023 ya girl was growing back, but it felt so awkward to me so I kept covering it with braids and now this year it’s to the length that I’ve been wanting and waiting for. I say all that to say, it’s gonna come and as much as I can say omg you got this, sometimes some things can be a little sucky, but it’s only temporary
Listen. I have these same moments. I usually take a few hair clips on the sides and then mohawk it with lots of curls. Makes it work til I have time to repair.
I don’t think it was a fail! It was just about to be a hairstyle remix!! one of the things about shorter hair is that there are styles you can do with it that you can’t accomplish with longer hair!! slick those sides and pin them towards the crown and you would had a cutest faux Frohawk
I normally twist the section then Bantu knot the twist for more curl definition. Love your style it was a success to me it. It is giving full on curly fro
It looks good we have the same length of hair rn. Try using smaller sections to get you more curls I also big chopped my hair from hair bleach so we right here with it girl! Smaller sections is key!
I can totally relate to this at this moment. I struggle to style my hair whenever I cut it off. I have had my bantu knot outs come out like this, so I have honestly put a pause on it. Other people think it's cute, but just like you I think it makes me look dated. Excited to see what changes you implement on the next one. I would've thrown it in a fro until I had time to restyle it.
To get the definition I like I twist my hair like you're doing a regular twist, THEN bantu knot it. If I leave my roots to hang out with your method, my hair will play me. Loving these videos btw.
My hair was super curly after applying a twisting cream on wet hair out so the next night I divided my hair off in big sections and put it in big chunky braids and took it down and it was stretched out a lot but still had the curl. You might want to try that next...
As an afro, it was giving Annie. But if you would have swooped or slicked down half with a cute pin and some lip gloss it would have been beautiful on you.❤
@@NaturalReign I’m so excited. I feel like we are growing out our big chops together 💕 also I’m so sad i missed you in dc. I live in the dc area and it would of been so nice to meet you or run across you 🥺🥺🥺
Do chunky finger coils on wet hair and then separate them for the best most long lasting curls ever 😍 that got me through the awkward length phase. Just don’t leave the curls in too long, cuz your hair may wanna loc 😅🙃
Girl all stages of your hair journey is always beautiful and suits you❤ I get it tho being very over analytical about our looks in general despite people outside of us saying we look just fine 😂 they don’t see the unevenness of my hair and my asymmetrical skull 😭 hang in their girl by the end of this year alone I see you with that full volume afroo 🌺
I think I’m still adjusting to my hair being shorter. When it was longer I did about this many sections, but I might have to tweak it to work for this length.
I thought it was cute but I understand that you’re working with a shorter length which means a little it of a learning curve. What made you decide to use a foam instead of the Eva NYC cream you used the last time!? Something tells me that if you had used the cream it would have ate with no crumbs. Hope you give it another try! Thanks for always sharing and most of all at not trying to gaslight us into thinking that you never have any do-overs!!
Can you try a flat twist? Or a 3 strand twist? I think that would be cute and it wl stretch the hair at the same time. I can’t lie I haven’t worn mine out yet i need a little more hang time. Im wearing buns for now or wigs 😔 y’all don’t judge me

I’m so glad you like it! This feedback is helpful! 🤍🤍
Agreed!

I don't think it was a fail. Your fro looks so pretty 😍
Thank you! I think it just wasn’t the look I was going for. The Bantu knots just needed more to time to dry I think.
With a red lip and hoops it can be saved .😊
Yes!! The vision is there, it’s just not yet completed. She gotta dress it up frfr with some banging hoops, put on a little makeup & get dressed. It’ll come together afterwards
I think it was cute. Like when corrine rae Bayley had short hair.
Love the hair diaries, I miss watching natural hair content that's not only for brand sponsorship. Can't find these anymore!

I so look forward to you playing around with hair paint wax. I can literally picture you with every color….and it looks bomb with any one of em…
Your hair looks wonderful 😊. So healthy! Thanks for sharing ❤

“It’s giving auntie” …girl I said “it’s giving Angela Davis”❤.. Love the transparency! I could never get a Bantu knot out right on my short hair.🙄
On top of shrinkage of natural hair, bantu knots shrinks the hair as well
Really enjoying the transparency of this journey! Thank you for sharing! 🫶🏾
I feel like I’m finally able to show you guys my growth journey in a way that I couldn’t when I started my channel. It’s kind of like a fresh start! 💗

slick those sides and pin them towards the crown and you would had a cutest faux Frohawk
The hair looks good. You just need to pin it back with an adornment or do some specific braiding or flat twisting to feminize the fro look❤❤❤
ITS ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! LOVE IT!!!
if you try this again on this length, try doing smaller knots and letting them dry after you take the scrunchies off
The transparency & vulnerability is suchhhhh a treat sis ❤❤❤❤. Love u lets flourish
I normally twist the section then Bantu knot the twist for more curl definition. Love your style it was a success to me it. It is giving full on curly fro
My favorite way to wear my TWA is in a twist out. It last and it gives such cute curls on my shorter hair
It looks good we have the same length of hair rn. Try using smaller sections to get you more curls I also big chopped my hair from hair bleach so we right here with it girl! Smaller sections is key!
I love it! Short hair suits u so well.💖
9:38 style is cute 😊

I would've thrown it in a fro until I had time to restyle it.
I love this because I’m growing out my pixie cut and now we have the same length. I would love if you did a mini twist tutorial!
To get the definition I like I twist my hair like you're doing a regular twist, THEN bantu knot it. If I leave my roots to hang out with your method, my hair will play me. Loving these videos btw.

I've never been this excited to start my hair journey. I feel less alone ya know 😆
That puff would have did the trick. 😅 Thank you for your transparency.
You look cute. Kinda like Betty ruble from the Flintstones 😊.
That hair look ultra healthy too.
As an afro, it was giving Annie. But if you would have swooped or slicked down half with a cute pin and some lip gloss it would have been beautiful on you.❤
Great video! The fro came out cute altho u didnt like it. Next time smaller sections n a lil more water may help❤
You spoiling us 🥺🥺 I love to see it 🥺💕💕💕💕
I really want y’all to be apart of my journey! 🥰

Girl this would have been a bombbbbbb puff !
Hello NaturalReign I enjoyed your Video today! Have a Blessed Day!
I feel like if you put an elastic headband on the style would have worked.
Hey girl hey and as always love your videos and keep doing you.
Hey love! Thank you for supporting 🤗💕
No problem 😌
Idk why I never thought to use scrunchies to hold my Bantu knots. I have waist length locs and it’s hard to secure the ends
I don't personally think it was a fail. I think you're right when you said it should've dried more. And I didn't see "Auntie J" 😊 ReignGang 💙
I think maybe you need to do slightly smaller sections. But it is still really cute❤
I think I’m still adjusting to my hair being shorter. When it was longer I did about this many sections, but I might have to tweak it to work for this length.
I was thinking the same! But i still liked the end result as a short hair girlie myself!😻
I like it, your hair is so cute and fluffy🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿💯💯🤩😍
Thank you!! 🤗🥰
thank you for sharing your journey with us
Of course! I love sharing it with y’all 🫶🏽
I thought it was cute but I understand that you’re working with a shorter length which means a little it of a learning curve. The curls were cute...you could have made it into a curly mohawk.
Can you try a flat twist? Or a 3 strand twist? I think that would be cute and it wl stretch the hair at the same time.
I can’t lie I haven’t worn mine out yet i need a little more hang time. Im wearing buns for now or wigs 😔 y’all don’t judge me
Grandma's wig......it is cute😂
All you need is hoops makeup and confidence it’s cute
I feel like with shorter hair you also have to have less Bantu knots 😭 I learned that the hard way tbh
Very pretty!
beautiful beautiful
put your hair in very mini twists. u will have temporarysuster locs and ur hair will grow.
Your hait is beautiful!
i actually thought you looked so cute!
I am a new subscriber I like how it came out🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
I like it. Tfs.
Bantu knots are always a fail for me. I think it came out cute but I’d probably adjust the look with Bobby pins.
It was actually cute after you picked it out. But I wasn't the one wearing the style.
I like it.
I'm in Mexico. Explain
Heyy 👋🏽
Hey sis!! 👀
That's an Auntie from 1975 👍
I think you should add a side part and it would look less like an auntie look 😭
It was too late. I would’ve had to part it that way. The middle part was definitely a fail 😂
Just do flat twist going back in the front .
❤❤
l like it
I wish I had your hair density 😩
Thought it looked good.. We’re our own worst critics!!
!!!
HALF UP BANTU PUFF HALF DOWN BANTU BACK WOULD HAVE BEEN CUTE. BUT GIRL... CUT THE LAST OF THAT OLD COLOR OUT. ❤
@naturalreign
It would have made such a cute puff tho ❤
Length definitely make styles appear more put together even when it’s a fail. But styles on shorter hair are a fail 30% of the time 🫠.
I feel like with shorter hair you also have to have less Bantu knots 😭 I learned that the hard way tbh
