I love the Blade vs Nomak fights because Blade finally meets someone who can throw hands back, plus Blade barely won and almost died. Apparently Wesley Snipes vouched for the idea of that second fight not being a easy win. Always cool when a actor lets their character be vulnerable and struggle.

I loved it too. Honestly one of my favorite finale battles in any comic book movie. Its a good thing they listened to Wesley on this one, unlike the 3rd one, cause the fight actually being a challenge to Blade really made it that much more better. A lot of movies nowadays could learn to listen from this.

And this was Blade at the top of his game, having fed on blood, similar to his state at the end of the first movie. Nomak was a genuinely great physically imposing antagonist for Blade to go up against. I remember the making of this on the DVD, Snipes and Del Toro wanted the final fight to be this brawl, bones broken, bloody hand to hand fight. It sort of ruined the 3rd movie for me since before it even was announced. I was expecting something similar as the end fight or for it to be stepped up.

@Xehanort10 Oh, I'm quite familiar with the more awesome premise of the potential third film that could have been. I heard the studio, and even the actors hated the script that Goyer had submitted, unfortunately. Maybe audiences who enjoyed the first two films may have been put off by such a dramatic shift. This was 2004. It was still early days of successful comic films. The third entries in Spiderman and X-Men hadn't come out yet to disappoint the general audiences that enjoyed the first 2 movies of those franchises, so New Line probably wanted to play it safe. I don't know what went on in the boardroom department, but I know this movie was pretty much a vehicle to kick off a spin-off movie series with Hannibal King (which the deleted post credit scene where they're fighting a werewolf pretty much set up). Plus, Snipes pretty much phoning in his performance, and Goyer's inexperience at directing its a miracle of film making the movie came out the way it actually did. Yeah, it's not nearly as good as the first two Blade movies, but it's watchable, even unintentionally funny

@@Xehanort10 The Rock, Statham, and Vin Diesel. That's why Rock and Vin had huge beef on the fast and furious, and why none of those guys can ever really "lose" against each other. It's actually in their contracts that they can't look weak, or get their asses handed to them by other big stars. Only against big monsters/actors specifically playing big bad types.

I think Blade would be considered an Anti-Hero like Deadpool. Since they don't knock out or subdue 99% of their opponents and enemies, and just straight up kills them on the spot.😊

Supposedly Wesley Snipes is going to be back as this version of Blade in the MCU in one or both of the next Avengers movies like Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man. I was 17 when I saw the first Blade at the theater in 1998 so....that will be like the greatest thing ever to see Snipes as Blade again interacting with the modern Marvel universe..

You mentioned John Wick…Three members of the ‘Blood Pack’ are bad-asses in their own films. Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Rogue One and JOHN WICK 4) are the most well known. Tony Curran, the red head and first to die among the Blood Pack. He was one of the Vikings in ‘The 13th Warrior with Antonio Banderas. He was incredible as Vincent Van Gogh in a very good episode of Dr. Who. Tony Curran was incredible as the original vampire, the father of all vampires Marcus, in the Underworld franchise with Kate Beckinsale. I guess this is the first time you’ve seen Norman Reedus (Scud) who has become iconic as Daryl, the bad-ass in The Walking Dead series, made an impression here where I became a fan. He had a brief scene in one of my favorite sci-fi horror films ‘Pandorum’. I ranked Blade 2 alongside Aliens and Terminator 2: Judgement Day as the best sequels ever. Nissa was my favorite new character in this film. She and her brother are sympathetic tragic villains. Blade trusts Whistler, he was also referring to the ‘Blood Pack’ in keeping the enemy closer. Meg, your reactions made watching Blade 2 even more fun.

The tongue thing the Reapers have was created by Del Toro, who was taking some ideas of his own from a vampire story he eventually published with a co-author, called The Strain. It did get turned into a series, and if you watch it, the vampires will look _very_ familiar. It was pretty good for being a horror series on network television.
If you really like this one, you owe it to yourself to sew Guillermo Del Toro's two Hellboy movies. They're fantastic.
If you need any extra convincing, the actor who plays Nomak is the antagonist of the second one. 😏

Please react to Hellboy(2004) & Hellboy 2 The Golden Army (2008). They are directed by the same director of Blade 2 Guillermo Del Toro. Hellboy isn't a Marvel or DC character. He's a part of an independent conic book company called Dark Horse Comics which a small comic book company got it's start in 1985 but became big in the 1990s with the introduction of Hellboy & his allies The B. P. R. D. (which an acronym for Buearu For Paranormal Response & Defense). It's my second favorite independent comic book character behind Image's Invincible.

I personally wished Karen was brought back. She wasn't exciting, sure, but the 2000s had this unfortunate trend of dropping off the normal everyday characters in the sequels. I know *why* they'd drop them because they're mundane or worse "boring," but I always found that a missed opportunity to let them grow in a sequel. Oh well.
Brace yourself for Blade 3 because you've reached the peak for these movies.

Great reaction and insightful analysis - I still prefer the first one, just about, simply because of its style and tone, and just its attitude, for want of a better word, but this one is a very well-crafted sequel and Del Toro poured his usual attention and love for detail in all of this.
He actually, if memory serves, studied every single bit of footage from the first one, all of the rushes, to get a feel for Stephen Norrington's direction so he was better informed going into this one and wanted to make it more of an overtly stylized comic book film and just all-round enjoyable popcorn film.
The Reapers I think are a great addition to the vampire lore and a similar creature is explored in his own series, "The Strain", which has previously been mentioned in the comments. Great explorations of vampire lore and I love how the Reapers are genuinely horrific in this one and just out for blood, no matter what.
I love that Del Toro tries to blend practical and visual effects for best effect and I think it really shows in this one, as it does in all of his films. I think Snipes is done with the character now, sadly, but I would have loved to have seen him do more, although there does seem to be a new big screen version in the works so we'll see how that goes.
He's one of the more interesting Marvel characters out there I think, and I would love to see him taken in new and interesting directions going forward. Del Toro also does great commentaries, if you ever want to check them out.

Guillermo del Toro is a true artists of the cinema. After this he went on to direct "Hellboy" where he became friends with the creator Mike Mignola.
I saw Mignola at a Con here in Seattle talking about going to the famous Portland bookstore called Pal's (it's 3 stories about the size of a city block). They both went in to gets books they thought the other would like. When they walked out and showed each other the books they got for the other, they realized they had bought books the other already had.

To answer your question yes that is cocaine mixed with blood the director wanted to show in this movie that European vampires are more hedonistic. Whistler wad given what you call a vampire morning after shot its why he was turned back and it it loosely based on the cure the doctor from the last movie made. Plot was really twisted and a shocker filled the surprise of Norman Reedus being in league with the bad guys was a shock. As for the ending Blade did say to that vampire goon ‘catch you later’ it just took a while before he did.

This movie is EPIC!!! Honestly I think its up there with some of the greatest comic book films ever. Everything was just better, and the first one was already so good! The action, the cinematography, the set design, the practical and visual effects, the story. I could go on and on about this movie! I'm just glad I got to grow up on movies like this because while I do like some of the comic book movies now, many of them are starting to feel lazy. They could learn a thing or two about Blade and I hope they don't mess up the reboot too much. Blade was truly ahead of its time.
3:36 If you mean in the comics, then Blade actually is a vampire like he is in the movies. He was bitten by a character called Morbius I think, who just had a movie come out like a couple years ago by the way. I wouldn't be surprised though if that was changed in the comics to be more like the movies. Wesley's Blade really did define the character and I know the character was for sure changed to look more like Wesley in the movies. Morbius was apparently supposed to be the villain of this movie from a deleted scene at the end of the last movie. I like the villain that they chose for Blade 2 though because Nomak is one of my favorite vampire villains ever! The reapers are probably the most terrifying Vampire villains I've ever seen and I love that! But its not because I was scared of them, although many people were. It was because they actually posed a threat to everyone including Blade, and I could feel that. You don't quite get that feeling with too many villains anymore.

Both are Quick Draw users, we have nomad warriors that stumble into big plots and disapear into the sunset and we also "The man with no name " Trope.
In the Metal Gear Rising Game this goes even more crazy. We have a western/samurai duel against a Samurai that shoots his blade like a gun.
Even Wolverine has these inspirations. He is a Samurai/Cowboy in some of his comics.

In his review, Roger Ebert wrote that Guillermo del Toro's films always feature two overriding themes: 1) centuries-old feuds between implacable enemies, and 2) things that bite you and aren't even designed to let go.

While _Trinity_ is regarded as a dumpster fire by fans and even Snipes himself, it has its moments. Ryan Reynolds and Jessica Beil somewhat carry the movie, and the villains are laughably cheesy in a "so-bad-it's-good" way, IMO. Especially Triple H.

I actually don't like it because of Ryan Reynolds, sometimes he is a little to much you know.

The 'behind the scenes' stuff and the story of the film to
most viewers makes Trinity, a bad movie.
I'm aware of all that, but it i still liked it.
It wasn't a box office failure neither.
Even the Extended Cut was tolerable.

I don’t think no one understood nomaks character.. especially when he said “it hurts, it hurts no more”.. thats a very sad scene of him killing himself.. the person who plays nomak is luke goss. He also plays in hellboy 2 and the main villain as well

The first great sequel of Marvel's golden age on film (1998-2007) and
his return to action was glorious, less than 2 years after X-Men (2000) and
    over a month before Spider-Man (2002).
The comic-book sensibility makes an extreme approach out of the horror, suspense and action.
Gullermo Del Toro truly came through in a clutch and i loved his film, Mimic (1997).
Thomas Kretschmann who plays Overlord Eli Damaskinos goes on to play
HYDRA Leader, Baron Strucker in the MCU.
Tony Curran who plays Priest of The Bloodpack, went on to play
Finn Cooley of the Kitchen Irish on Daredevil (S2).
Matt Schulze who plays Chupa of The Bloodpack, made
his film debut in Blade (1998) as an character named Crease.
    The soundtrack was fire.
The video game on X-box was dope too.
Blade Trinity is considered the worse of the trilogy.
React to Ihe extended cut (better, tolerable version).
I'm just glad that Blade has been getting more and more love as an character
that changed the game more now than ever.

I've been saying the same thing over the past few years. I'm so glad Blade is getting more love these days. He really deserves it cause these movies are great. The 3rd one not so much, but I've seen a lot worse these days so it might not be as bad as we remember. Same with Spiderman 3 and The Dark Knight Rises.

I'm usually against changing a character's lore, but it made perfect sense with Blade. Vampires have always been portrayed as being much more powerful than humans, even in early literature. Being human, if vampires got a hold of him, it would be over; he wouldn't have their strength or agility. Making him half-human solves that problem-all of their strengths, none of their weaknesses.

It was an incredible experience to see this film in the cinema.
Compared to the first amazing film, Blade 2 was a case of bigger, better, faster, more.
Because Blade 1 was something that had never been seen before, it had a certain magic about it and it is possible that the storyline here couldn't possibly match up,
but the sets, characters, choreography and effects are so much greater that the whole film is elevated because of it.
Just as Reloaded was on a whole other level compared to the original Matrix, Blade 2 was also a step-up in terms of overall spectacle.
Thanks for the cool reaction vid. 👍🏻
