I was using thing car and I went to the gas station and it took in a few minutes to figure this out. I grew up with a little lever in the car that popped these open and was looking all over for the lever. I figured I can't be the only one wondering, so I made the vid. Thanks for the comment

Thanks I just recently got an Arteon and was embarrassed to go get gas so that people wouldn't think I'm crazy not knowing how to open my fuel lid haha. Now I'm confident to go to the gas station. 😅

Your gas cap will fit into it while you fuel your car, it holds the gas cap

Rental car this am did not have an unlock button on the key. I wonder if the replacement key was cheaper without that stuff, so the rental place was on the cheap.

2021 Jetta rental also has a small lift button on the driver's door that needs to be activated. Sigh.

if it stuck what should i do.
First try light pressure on the seam, don't use anything that will scratch and don't pry. Just get something in there to get pressure on it while having someone pull the lever and see if that does it. If it opens then try it again to see if it is working and was jammed.
On my 2021 Jetta rental, there is an added feature of a little lift button on the driver's door.
And I thank the kind young woman who spotted it in the dark for me at the gas station
Got out of work at 10 pm and my gas cover was stuck. Dark and cold and not able to get gas! Mine has always popped out by itself. (2015 Jetta). Only malfunctioned once before. Will see in the morning if this works. I am rather upset!

not sure what type of car you have, but there may be a lever near the driver seat when you first open the drivers door just inside the car at the floor level.

@@HC-sb5ck The doors have to be unlocked. If the doors are locked the fuel door is locked as well. Check to make sure all doors are unlocked.
