    quick note, for osha certification all scissors lifts have to have controls at the base to lower the lift in the case of an operator passing out with the lift in the air. youve already fixed the issue but for future reference there is a small panel on all lifts that is accessable from the ground in the case of an emergency and if you are given a rental lift that does not have this feature you should never use it.

    • @EcceJack
      @EcceJack 3 роки тому +5

      Yeah, I was thinking that, having used a scissors lift for the first time last autumn, and *having had* an opportunity for needing a little bit of rescue with that button at the base (wasn't my fault! xD)

    • @jonny555ive
      @jonny555ive Рік тому +1

      Exactly, great advice.
      I'm assuming they probably missed where the panel at the bottom was, but if it doesn't have it then this lift should not be used.
      Thanks for pointing that out I'm sure not a lot of people know that. 👍👍

      Check the manual, if you don't have one, you should be able to find one online.
      If it's a rental, they sghould have showed you not only how to operate, but also the emergency.

      Indeed, you have ground commands (which are funny to switch to when your colleague is up there... 😁)
      Or, the emergency mechanical by-pass which should be red (or yellow for some countries), visible, surrounded by arrows and symbols, and made in a way you can not use it by accident. (different models, same purpose, captain obvious, etc...)
      The problem is (for legal reasons and mostly only concerning professionals) you have to let it sealed again by "qualified" people for a lot of money before you can use your lift again. (you know, those assholes who never hold a hammer but will tell you how you should use nails ?)

    The symbolic representations run deep here as Giertz's art must be approached as a contextual whole rather than a deconstructed part. The image on the wall is less telling than the Sisyphus like climb of the scissor lift which must be repeated when the boulder of knowledge that the controls are out of reach (surely an allegory for powerlessness) comes tumbling down. The final mural is incomplete, complete with incomplete brain as a standing testament to futility and intransigence.
    Glad you are feeling better, much love.

    There is always a way to control self-elevated work platforms from the base because emergencies happen. Some scissor lifts have a manual hydraulic release and some have a control switch.
    If you ever use a scissor lift or a boom lift please always fill out a pre-trip inspection to check operation and safety systems as well as look for cracked welds, lose bolts, frayed wires and fluid leaks because it could save your life.
    Also I love your videos! You are brilliant! 🌈❤️

    This is so funny! This reminds me a situation I lived last week. I'm actually a building engineer and I had to climb up to a Platform which was maybe 4 to 5 m high without a rope or anything. It was not so difficult in normal circumstances (was kind of going up to a vertical ladder), but wearing winter clothes, heavy security-boots, a folder in your hand to take notes up there and a camera didn't felt very safe, ever if I was wearing a helmet. The next week my partner went there again to take more notes and asked me with his eyes wide open "Did you go up there last time? I just asked one of the roof workers to do it." Well I did it, and showed the men there that this girl doesn't get scared so easily.

    Probably too late and you figured it out but at the bottom of the lift on the side there is controls to raise and lower the lift. There usually is a switch to change the controls from top to bottom
    Edit. On this particular model the secondary control is on the back lower portion

    • @KizzaMcc

    There was an old school actress, maybe it was Bo Derek, who used to paint naked using her whole body. I tried googling the story, but if you type naked Bo Derek painting you get totally different search results. (You talking about your process using a fork with your eyes closed singing Ariana Grande made me think of it.)
    Maybe you needed sponges on your feet to hold more paint, or maybe tubes that squirted paint out of them? And a pan so you could dip your feet in directly?

      Spongebob SquarePants She’s not a native English speaker, English is a huge pain in the ass and Mural is one of the annoying words where the letter U is pronounced as “ you” rather than ooh or Uh and anything where there are three possibilities of how to pronounce a portion of a word means it’s going to be difficult for someone who isn’t a native speaker, no matter how good their English is.
