I am an italian national who lived in the UK for several years. I have to admit this song is one of the best football-related song ever. I hope England will soon be back to winning ways. The difference for me is teams like Italy, Spain, France, Brazil and Germany always have that creative midfielder who can unlock a game with one pass. We have often lacked that Fabregas (for example) type player to thread that special pass or score that goal out of nothing to win a major tournament 🤔

Before every wc/euros start, they always make the call, that they are gonna win and they always shit the bed at some point, eventho you have really good players (United Generation of the 90s for example or 2010 was a good team aswell around Lampart, Stevie, ...)
But if a team nearly always chokes, the fans should be more humble, lets be honest! If Italy, France, Spain or Germany make such calls I can accept it, since they have proven so many times that they can bring it home.

Times are changing. 2018 was just a taste of what our lads can do. Their first world cup and they go further than all but a few before them. They broke the penalty curse and brought a very fractured nation togather.
They came home as heroes having restored national faith in the team. As someone in my mud 20s I have only every known the bitter taste of defeat as shootout after shootout went against us. When dier scored it wad like all that misery was gone at last.
