To this day this is one of the best videos I've come across for this song it truly encapsulates the struggle with drugs and now more than ever having lost my brother to drugs this song and video really resonate
watching this video and reading these commits has got me all tore up. having a flood of memories hit me. I'm 34, and was in active addiction from age 19 to 26. hardcore, 24-7. any opiate any nervey. ODed many times, resulting to being on death's door more than once. now after all that I live with a fucked up survivors remorse b/c some good people died and I made it out alive somehow. god bless addicts. there just lost, and need help finding their way back.
The pain of losing a loved one to addicition is of a sort that one can never fully comprehend until that loss presents itself. Heroin killed my brother 115 days ago. -sometimes when you're out of rope the way to climb back up's unclear
The essence of depression is Helplessness and Hopelessness. Feelings that lead to intense frustration. Frustration builds, and turns into Hate toward the perceived injustices causing the feelings of Helplessness, and Hopelessnes. Hate can be pointed inward causing low self esteem or self destruction, or outward in many ways. The hate can also be channeled into positive things like excersise which helps you to re-become goal orientated, and feel a sense of control over something in your life.
one of my favourite staind songs...and aaron played it acoustically at one of his solo shows..saw the video on myspace..the ending of this song is epic
this video is amazing, but if your an addict (like me) it has so many meanings good and bad..most bad…but for me it hurts to watch this… iv lost 5 friends within an year from overdoses and suicide and iv even tired, the people with an addiction like myself, don't care about anyone but them selfs and how to get the next fix and the fact that you will do almost anything to get it, its sad it has to happen this way but this disease does to friends and family, but we never think about the consequences. Thats why its sad that we do this to our selfs…I'm not here to talk shit about anyone or "help" anyone because i can't and this sounds corny but only they can, and its possible…Thanks
i like the camera at the end, the way the colors change, the jerkiness and how it looks like the camera is blinking--it adds a good effect to a really well-done video.
It was a really, really, really bad time in my life when I first heard this song. I think I cried for an entire hour. The lyrics are beautiful. Every single fucking word. "The walls you build around yourself, I guess they also keep you here."
This song is about not only drugs and the affects it has on ppls lives, but a song FULL_STOP that has an affect on everyday life. The lyrics are true to a point where you just wanna end it all, but then try and regain what was lost some how as well. Stained Rocks!!!!!
staind is amazing i havent heard a song that doesnt have a message. its raw pain and people relate. weve all been shit on and broken, and staind really seems to tap into emotions most artist stay away from. blow away is ridiculously deep theres a line in the song...i wish that i could disappear, unzip my skin and leave it here...i know i wanted to just walk away, leave, take the easy way out many times over....but i realized when i stopped living for myself, i actually started to feel alive.
With all the sh*t people love carrying around in the world, finally someone who fights to keep it away. You're worth all the support and respect for that. Never believe otherwise.
What I personally like about Staind's music is that it's so simple, including the lyrics... But lyrics are so simple that they are actually extremely complex!.. Like this song is. Just so I clear my meaning up.. the lyrical devices are very popularly used, & he doesn't even try to push the boundaries, the style is simple. But the content & use of words are amazingly well thought out, possible the best that are possible with such a simple written structure, how does he do it? Staind rock :)
Oh no sorry pal But "break the cycle" is honestly my favorite album from Staind. They are good no matter what kind of songs rather they are depressing or not. Aaron always has a meaning to his songs that's why I listen to them.
Speaking in musical terms the subject is excellent, if it had been composed Nirvana would be known worldwide. The truth is that Aaron Lewis tries to compose chaotic songs about trying to make junk music, but paradoxically, songs of excellent quality come out, songs that many more famous than good bands were already in his repertoire and not that it is one or two songs are many . Staind is undoubtedly one of the most undervalued bands there are.
Yeah the answer is stay strong you'll make it, I've been a teenager myself I've had times to where I wanted to end it all but I stayed strong & now I'm a very happy person! So yeah I have the answer take a lesson from my answer!
This is one of my favorite Staind songs, and Staind is my all-time favorite band. Aaron Lewis is one of my heros. Just a great, great song. I'm positive it's about addiction though.
These lyrics are so angry but so true...Staind says stay in school and away from drugs kids...or the will play you a killer guitar rift that will cause serious head trauma...lol I love Staind!
whats REALLY sad about this song, too many people can compleatly relate to it, or know someone who they want to make listen to this song. Aaron puts it into perfect words, 'hey, u got a problem, get some help, man.'
I've been swept in, and let me say that this song has done alot for me so I got a tattoo "reality" on my arm. Aarons lyrics are awesome, and I can't wait ta' see him in December at Mohegan Sun!!!
You can also tranlate theese lyrics to get the meaning that fit you. And most people do it on reflex so they can relate. It's as simple as that. Nothing supernatural about it. This song isn't necessarily about doing drugs at all. Think about that.
the monster you're feeding, your lack of perception the things that you do to fullfill your addictions the light at the end of your tunnel is closing what is it that you're so afraid of exposing? you'd give it all up for what's theirs for the taking whatever it takes to keep your hands from shaking the same things you're thinking might make you feel better the same things that probably get you here
In the 1950's rock'n'roll artists were directing their message to teenagers too. Don't go saying it's a product of the 1980's. Most popular music is directed at the 15-25 age range because thats the time when people start getting into music and are most likely to experiment and buy it.
Wow. I'm really sorry to hear that.. read it whatever. Wish you the best. And you're right; it IS a helpless situation when there's absolutely nothing you can do, but let them go.
i really like this song. I like how they did the video to it. It makes me think. I've been and still am an addict and alcoholic and can really relate to it...i love the lyrics.. Staind is the best! :-)
I fight the same battle. I was always told you only have to be 10% smarter than what you're dealing with. If you understand depression, and get to the root of the cause you can fight it. Decide to exercise EVERYDAY no matter what. It just balances the brain, and gives you a sense of accomplishment. Depression is HELL. A long bike ride or jog every day will improve symptoms by 80%. I know, the last thing you want to hear when severely depressed is Go Exercise but it works better than any pill.
this song is awesome it always makes me put things in perspective and when i watched the video i had and epiphany and i thought of all the people that are going thru addiction and im included and this song and video just gets it spot on idk but it does make me reflect a little bit on things thank you for the video
i think it was very well done.. seriously.. congrats... at first i couldnt tell if it was someone's video they made... or if it was acually a staind song...
@Deadpool458 I like Lil Wayne... and I like Staind.... What does that make me? Less of a Staind fan? I'm 25, I've been listening to Staind since I was 13. There's something to be said about respecting people's taste in music. I generally dislike any kind of Pop music, but I don't go about bitching about it. It is what it is. That's why different genres of music exist people people's taste in music is often very different. I guess I'm the rare type that likes Rock Rap and Metal.
Your so right, But I love the song "for you" that songs is bad ass. Yes Aaron Lewis is honestly the best song writer ever always has been & always will I know you will agree.
Every comment starts with "I have been through so much shit in my life" Stop crying with your little suburb problems about bullys an ur gf's leaving you. Aint even the peak of problems if that shit upsets u i feel bad for u in the next 10 years.
"A Black hand!! Let's blame the black people for the loss of this charming girl! Besides... they stole her bag... Definitely black people!" Anyway, being a bit more serious.. Very nice vid there, had to watch it through a few times to actually see what it actually meant. At first i thought it was all about sorrow and feeling unprotected. Well done.
Beside that, what do you think of the physical basis of addiction? At all who are fighting to their addiction or are having problems with it otherwise: keep faith, please. Don't know if I already said it, but I just really this song and the video.. You did a great job, keep going.
i've been through lots of shit these past 2 years to, and have i thought about suicide? ya i have, have i committed it? obviously not, the reason? the stuff that was there a year ago exists no more, but there is one that will remain forever, but i dont mind it because i have learned to cope with it. my life was ruined from some idiot that didnt know how to get home when he was drunk, and the consiquences where me getting hit, and him getting 7 years in state.i'm still here because i choose life
the vide has a really good saying that i really like A LOT! "No pain is worth throwing ur life away." sucide isn't the way to go... no matter wat, b/c u may think that killing urself will make a certain person happier, but ur not thinking of the ones who do care about u, ur friends, some of ur family, ur only causing them more pain....... think about that the next time u wanna do this shit to ur self....
To this day this is one of the best videos I've come across for this song it truly encapsulates the struggle with drugs and now more than ever having lost my brother to drugs this song and video really resonate
“I’d rather be hated and loathed for who I am, than be loved and adored for being something I’m not”.... Kurt Cobain, R.I.P. 1967-1994
People like whatever type of music they like.
Respect it.
This video is so perfect, the best fan made song vid ever
watching this video and reading these commits has got me all tore up. having a flood of memories hit me. I'm 34, and was in active addiction from age 19 to 26. hardcore, 24-7. any opiate any nervey. My little Brother

With all the sh*t people love carrying around in the world, finally someone who fights to keep it away.
You're worth all the support and respect for that. Never believe otherwise.
Its also about addiction. That leads to suicide as well. But really listen tot the lyrics. Its both.
this is one of my favorite songs!!! staind is awsome!!

One of my favorite songs ever made!!!!! Man it hits me hard tho!!
Great work!!! Too many of our people feel like they have no reason to live other than drugs. This must change.
this video is dedicated to all of
the people who got swept in...,it`s easy to get pulled in too deep,no pain is worth throwing your life away
easily one of the best bands around.
great video to a just-as-great song
I've been swept in, and let me say that this song has done alot for me so I got a tattoo "reality" on my arm. Aarons lyrics are awesome, and I can't wait ta' see him in December at Mohegan Sun!!!
Great song!
*cries* it's so emotional song

your lack of perception
the things that you do
to fullfill your addictions

whatever it takes to keep your hands from shaking

i really like this song. I like how they did the video to it. It makes me think. I've been and still am an addict and alcoholic and can really relate to it...i love the lyrics..
