Very much was beloved when it came out. Had the chance to see Cold and Staind on tour for this, Aaron Lewis came out for the song. It was incredible. Band gets overshadowed as years go on and they get older. They were/are loved.
This song...was one of my late best friends favorites. He and I went to high school together, joined the army and deployed together. Not just once, but twice to Taji Iraq, in 2004 and in 2008. When we got home in December of 2008, he was facing a divorce. On February 24 2009, he left for the Mall of America, from Arkansas, and hit a patch of black ice. He succumbed to the injuries from that roll over, and changed my life forever. It's been 13 years, but I still visit his grave 2 or 3 times a year. Thank you Scooter Ward, for the great memories I have tied to this song. Life wouldn't be the same without you or the rest of Cold. Thank you.
I don't know if you know but you can order the lyrics from the Cold website. Me and my wife just got ours yesterday of this song, hand written by Scooter and a personal message with autograph and he even put some guitar picks in it. Wish I could post a picture. Might be a cool thing to have. He will even put your friends name on it. Sorry for your loss man.
26 here. Going through a divorce with a girl that I married just after high school. I connect with all this music just like i did 10 years ago.. It's surreal. These guys change lives. That's truth.
This was my husband's favorite song he recently passed away a few days ago rip my guardian my best friend my love my safe place my rock my everything I will be playing this at his funeral
Struggling in a very dark time of my life, and I come across this song for the first time 😮❤ I absolutely have adored aaron lewis and i find this song when i was on the brink of giving up, instead i have this on repeat and picked up my guitar. Thank you 🙏❤

I love you my wife my joine. I want you to feel the rush in u to force u to take me down to that bed and make me yours. i love you my JONIE. :)
I was inspired to name my daughter after a lyric in this song. Melody is 18 now and ready to conquer the world. My first love was music, but when she came, I gave her that name. My number one.
Just one of the bands that I love and helped me through high school being bullied, abuses at home this song and this band is one of many that helped save my life. Thank you.
Beautiful Darkness .... .. I feel your anguish and pain. I'm 35 now and music from this time frame of my life allowed my greatest escapes. Now I have children of my own and vowed to not ever allow myself to be the cause of their harm or hatred...
This is the song me and my brother used to play together. He would sing and I would play. He is in Houston, Texas now and I'm in Plymouth, Great Britain . Each time we meet ,we play this, and our wives take a deep breath when I sing : "and I'll marry melody". Brotherhood and music sets us free.
I just turned 43 and still love them! Seen BLS back in May also. They fkn rocked the house!! Music has no age , nor color nor creed. No pun intended ☺😂👍\m/ On!!
I'm in my thirty's and this song has been a permanent member of my playlists since I was 11 and dealing with depression still dealing with it but I have someone who helps me through it
This song is an illustration to what I feel inside. I've been suffering from deep depression for about 4 years now. I just want someone to understand me. Even though this is just a song, it speaks straight to my soul, and it makes me feel just a little bit less alone.
I have my battles with mental illness as well so thing song is also meaningful to me. Hang in there man, if you ever feel like you need someone to vent to message me. :)
I was about 16 years old when Cold came to Providence. My friends and I waited outside of the bus to meet them for a long time after the show. After a while, the band came out, invited us in, and wanted us to help them pick the version of this song that they were going to release. It was my first show ever and the most memorable even now. This is the version we picked. Not long after that show, this song, that we picked while hanging out with them on their bus, was released. I will never forget that night, not for my whole life. I love this song. They are really nice people, too, which made the whole thing even better. It's such a special memory.
No matter what I listen to I still come back to Cold. Something about his voice that brings back memories and is calming. It helps when the demons of war come knocking and I need something to bring me back from the edge. Thank you.
This song reminds me of my brother who I lost in 2018. Every time I hear it I get emotional. Fly high brother and rest in peace. You can tell he wrote this song with pure heart. Thank you Scooter and Aaron for doing an awesome job with this song.
Today you wouldve been 41. My sweet sweet love. Not a day goes by where I dont cry, oh how I wish I could rewind the hands of time. You showed me this in 2011. We started a family… everything fell apart, you took your life, like you said you would. I wish I could hold you. I love you Brian. 3/18/83-8/8/22 💔🕊️
Still listening to this song in 2020. This society needs to hear real music from real artists. God Bless all you folks who deal with helplessness and depression.
I remember being 16 and taking my walkman cd player to the park with this song playing in the dead of winter. I'd sit on a swing and listen over and over and over. Because with this one song I wasn't alone in the depths of my depression.
"Bleed" I'm feeling crossed I take it inside Burn up the pain My thoughts are strange Just like the things I used to love Just like the tree that fell I heard it If art is still inside I feel it I wanna bleed Show the world all that I have inside I wanna scream Let the blood flow that keeps me alive Take all these strings They call my veins Wrap them around Every fucking thing Presence of people Not for me Well I must remain in tune Forever My love is music I will marry melody I wanna bleed Show the world all that I have inside I wanna scream Let the blood flow that keeps me alive Won't you let me take you For a ride You can stop the world Try to change my mind Won't you let me show you How it feels You can stop the world But you won't change me I need music I need music I need music to set me free To let me bleed

What a powerful song. It's amazing how it makes you feel and reminds you you're not alone in those feelings. Scooter and Aaron have always been two of my favorite writers much respect
Music motivates us to higher spirits. The only keys I keep close to me are in the strings. I keep counting blessings on my walls to replace the shadows that grow thicker when the lights dim. Through music I wake another day to see the sun shine it's way in
These shadowed entities, Casting sin over my wounded mind, Leaving me with blood soaked scars, My eyes have turned Sad.... And blind, I pray to the Lord above, To release me from these darkened dreams, To Take from my mind, These rusted steel bars, Severing sinful binds, I have a Heart!!! You know.... A huge one, Can I feel Loved, I mean... Dad, I am your son!!! But.... I know, I am a source of disappointment, And, That only stains your emotion with rage, Is, An early grave my atonement, Or, Old age? Sometimes.... I feel alone, And, That leaves me Mad!!! Just what Ive been going through lately.... I feelo the light from within, just need to hold true to it, and cast away sin!
I'm 24 years old and i have felt the way you may feel at this moment before, if you arent fucking around. In 8 days I will go to recruit training to become a marine, this idea has provided me with much happiness. Please reconsider offing yourself. Think of your legacy, don't be remembered as weak. Good things will come your way brother.
I want this song played at my funeral. It describes exactly how I feel about life. I would love for people to know how I felt. This song is engrained in my heart forever.

Still listening to Cold after all these years & promote the music as much as I possibly can manage. Cold should be a huge band right now but never gained the traction needed. Cold Army for Life.

Bad Ass Song, with so Damn much meaning to it, if you can't feel the music, and the lyrics of what this song is about than you obviously have never felt music touch your soul, because that is what this song is about.. eveybody "whether or not they want to admit it" needs music of some style or some sort to express them selves, were they come from, who they are and how they got to were they are today. If you are cut off from " your music" or a way to listen to " your music" than your just stuck in limbo, and good luck finding a healthy outlet........
Im pretty certain 99% of people have been moved by music. Even if it is pop music. You shouldnt discourage them from listening to it. I started from pop in the 80's and ended up here. If i were forced to listen to pop music id find appreciation in it too. We all need something to attach to if it makes u feel alive.
I JUST HEARD THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSIC AND THE DEEPEST HEARTFELT LYRICS OF MY LIFE! THANK YOU COLD ( AND AARON) FOR LETTING ME FEEL YOUR SOUL THROUGH YOUR BEATY WITH MUSIC AND VOICE :D
Next year when I see this comment I will be a famous guitar musician with Trillions of Dollars, Health, Happiness, Love, and Gods Foundation! Thank you COLD for the inspiration and I have loved this album since it came out and listen to it religiously!
i love this song! i saw Cold & Staind together in 2001 - my very first concert and it will always be the best to me but this song has a lot of meaning to me -
My brother asked me what makes me a better musician than him, he couldn't figure out how I touched people with my music. "Because I show them my pain, and make them feel the same."
2001 in New Orleans at Endfest I seen Cold/Staind/Papa Roach. Been a fan for a long time now. Today this song is replaying over and over in my head. 13 ways to bleed on stage is an underrated masterpiece. Year of the spider is great too. Bought their next album I think it’s called “a different type of pain”. I miss the time when rock ruled the airwaves.
I Remember listening to this song after longs days of work. Had their CDs. Time passed, lost CDs forgot about this song. Rediscover the song 15 years later. Feel so ashamed that i had forgotten.
I was working night shift in ER (Columbus , Ohio) during the late 90's and took care of Kelly Hayes. He had a"disagreement"with Scooter and punched him in his skull. Kelly suffered a " boxer" fracture and needed a splint so he could play the Cleveland show later that day. That's the night I became a member of the "Cold Army "......oh, and I am 68 , still listening.......boom💣
i love cold and aaron lewis his voice is beauty to my ears. this song and so many others has gotten me thru so much. ... where did the good music go/ times have really changed. i need music to survive....
Wow. I saw em in st louis early 2000s this song is what drew me in and grabbed me. Still hits the same. Scooter, hope you are doing OK man. Praying for ya. We need ya to add Texas to the tour!
2024 anyone!?

"Bleed"
I'm feeling crossed
I take it inside
Burn up the pain
My thoughts are strange
Just like the things
I used to love
Just like the tree that fell
I heard it
If art is still inside
I feel it
I wanna bleed
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive
Take all these strings
They call my veins
Wrap them around
Every fucking thing
Presence of people
Not for me
Well I must remain in tune
Forever
My love is music
I will marry melody
I wanna bleed
Show the world all that I have inside
I wanna scream
Let the blood flow that keeps me alive
Won't you let me take you
For a ride
You can stop the world
Try to change my mind
Won't you let me show you
How it feels
You can stop the world
But you won't change me
I need music
I need music
I need music to set me free
To let me bleed
close..
Nice.
Thank you

Was a bad idea to put Aaron Lewis singing next to him- reallly shows the levels. Aaron is FAR BEYOND him
Next year when I see this comment I will be a famous guitar musician with Trillions of Dollars, Health, Happiness, Love, and Gods Foundation!
I love Aaron even more nowadays. Scooter too, 2 beautiful souls
another day and u save my life again.
i just discovered this....... and its amazing
+Kyle Kosanovich I remember the first time I heard this it blew my mind!

sounds like straight from heaven!
One of the best songs ever still in 2023!
Song still hits on 2024 back when music still had heart.
Why is it at 1:00 the vocal tones of Aaron's voice gets me every time..✨ have always LOVED this song.
I Remember listening to this song after longs days of work. Had their CDs. Time passed, lost CDs forgot about this song. Rediscover the song 15 years later. Feel so ashamed that i had forgotten.
Feels
When I have big emotions, I listen to this song. Always. Today was one of those days.

Cold.. You changed my life. Saved my life. Thank you always and firever scooter
