- Remember mood rings? Oh how I loved them growing up and into adulthood! All the swirls of color, and how they glow! In this tutorial I show you how to create your own works of art incorporating a product called Mood Magic into your work. I’m going to be creating a series of tutorials using different mediums and objects you can use with this effect. This tutorial is a little metal tin covered in polymer clay, color shifting super micas and adorned with a mood magic polymer clay flower medallion. Really easy and super fun to create! Once you start, you won’t want to stop! These make amazing gifts!

Thanks Alison as usual an inspiring video- I was using the mood magic on polymer clay earlier in the year and while it looked good at first I find my pieces now have lost their magic and I was interested to hear your comments about the heat of the UV curing killing the effect - so I am on the look out for the brush on resin here in the UK and will try again !

I recently discovered Thinking Outside The Box, I love it all !!! I have not finished them all yet, however I intend to! Everything is so beautiful, and amazing! Alison is so creative !! I recently tried joining the face book group and it has been pending for a while now. Is Alison on a hiatus? I also noticed the last video here on UA-cam that I can find is dated Dec. 4, 2020. Great project tute, thank you. Wouldn't it make more sense to make the stamped lid medallion FIRST, bake it & sand it if desired, and THEN attach to the raw clay lid & bake? That way there is no chance of distorting or damaging the medallion.

Hello, dear. I'm having a problem with my UV resin discoloring under the UV lamp. It doesn't do it all the time though. Do you think it has to do with using liquid pigments to color it? I did raise my lamp up to keep it farther away from the piece but it didn't work. Any suggestions? Anyway, thanks for all the beautiful videos. Hope you have a great day and thanks in advance.

where can i find the From the Heart UV resin
im sad i cant find the resin you used online anywhere, is there another resin that will work for this?
Could you use regular resin and not uv resin on the mood paint?
You sure can however the Brush UV Resin is easier to use on non flat objects :)
If you use 2 part resin, allow the Mood Magic to dry for at least 24 hours.
I tried looking for the mood changing stuff with the link and I can't find any.
Did all this, but after putting resin on it won't change. Any ideas?
Will it work with other color clays or is black poly clay recommended?
I probably should have mentioned, it works best on black.
QUESTION.... y does the uv kill the effect of the tan stuff? We use that n nails n the led/uv lamp I use doesn't affect mine. But I think mine looks like it might b a but thicker
It’s not the uv light that does it, it’s the uv resin that heats up. When uv resin cures, it gets extremely hot. When it gets that hot that it can ruin the mood liquid.
@@ThinkingOutsideTheBox right.. . So the uv gel must not get as hot then. U should see the thermocromatic paint in a set of nails. It's totally wild

can you put it in the freezer to help it dry?
Putting it in the freezer would only freeze it, not help it dry. If you apply in thin layers, it dries fairly quickly. If you would like to speed up the drying of the mood magic, you can also place in front of a fan or a source of air that is not heated.
I am having trouble with glazes. They are sticking together and ruining my beads. Any thoughts?
The best glaze for polymer clay is water based Varathane. It comes in gloss, satin and matte and can be purchased at most hardware stores.
If you are doing the mood ring effect, glaze will not work. You must use the uv finish that I show in this video. Link to purchase in the description below the vid.
Can you use varathane to seal it?
Varathane will not work correctly.
