cant believe the skill ceiling of this, its insane. few years ago i thought t2 maps were crazy, and now ive completed almost all t5s and many t6s and theres still so much room to improve. Best gamemode of all time
4:21 When I first started out, I couldn't dream of ever doing some of the very flashy jumps on normal maps, like sawmill, badlands, process, and who can forget the classic upwards rollouts.
This is pretty great to know. I'd always just hop into a server with a random jump map going with no prior knowledge of tiers and whatnot. My best go was doing 2 of the courses in 4starters, but I agree with the statement at the end, as every couple of months I'll return to jump_beef and see how quickly I can do it, or how many less attempts it takes to take on one or two of the jumps that will halt me for a couple minutes. Also so grateful to know jump_competitive exists. Thank you!
Just hearing jump_littleman finally being mentioned somewhere sent shivers down my spine. It was my first jump map I was introduced to back in 2013 and to this day I still can't beat the very last jump.
Hey thanks for making this video. I've never really gotten a walkthrough about the tier system. Just kinda loaded whatever map sounded coolest. Great and concise guide btw!
... 400 hours of rocket jumping later and I'm starting to become comfortable with T2 maps... The skill ceiling is... so, so so so sooooo high... unbelievable that a game could have this much depth... 400hours deep and I've just barely stuck my toe into the water. Rocket Jumping is insane
The biggest hurdle I find going from t3 to t4 is that it's no longer adequate to simply perform the skills a jump asks of you. You have to perform them precisely. Sometimes I enjoy the challenge, but other times (looking at you stair pogos) I get annoyed because my speed/height aren't perfect.
Maps like rickoconnell greatly interest me, even if they’re so far beyond what I can dream of achieving. I love seeing how rich mechanics in movement games/gamemodes can get!
@@FishyBoysss It's like parkour. It came from CSGO, it's basically just making tight jumps and using strafing to air accel. Kind of like bhop, but without the infinite speed gain that bhop has (and TF2 KZ has a much lower strafe speed than csgo). (take this with a grain of salt, I don't really know anything about KZ, you can watch the jump_uranium wr, it's a KZ map for TF2 that includes just a little bit of rocket jumping)
Katto, the best jumper in the world when it comes to t6 prefire maps, made his own list at one point. As far as I know it's the only list out there. I have a few disagreements with it - some maps are considered significantly easier/harder than I think they should be (which makes sense, a higher level of skill can adjust your perception of difficulty). Most of the time, people who need a list just need a list of the easier t6 maps. Those who need to start distinguishing further between the other t6's tend to be connected enough with the jumping community to get personal recommendations from other jumpers. That assumption could be wrong though. After all, if a person isn't connected to the community, by definition they wouldn't be able to tell the community that they are lacking a useful resource.
According to several high level jumpers I've played with on tempus, quints are generally said to be t4 and as of yet I've yet to play a t3 that has a proper quint. Most are quintable but can be done with just a quad. (I'm not certain about renard last however) Also so sad that 3 of the 4 t5s i've completed are low t5 :((
Yeah, quints tend to be high t3, but t4 and even t5 if they're tight enough. Most t3 quints are loose enough to make with a pretty good quad. Don't worry that the t5's you've done are on the easier end - it means you've been doing a good progression of difficulty on the maps you're playing. And even if I'm listing them as easier, they're still t5's.
The maps that struggled so much are just low t2 lol And I recently started to beat some of t3 maps. Guess ja2 was kinda helpful even it was too hard for me back then
To the point about christmas, I think it's just old and outdated. Some of the most awkward maps are in that old category and they didn't update the tiering for most of them.
wow , jump_owakare is T7? , it is my first t6 map lol , i thought it would be same thing as junp_lion but a bit hard but i was wrong , however i just beaten it anyway
I was on the fence about listing Owakare as t6 or t7. I think if you have a really solid grasp of wall syncs Owakare becomes manageable enough to perhaps be someone's first t6. It's a tough map, congrats on beating it!
@@Firestabber Where can I find these t1, t2, t3, t4, t5, t6 maps fast. I always just search "jump" in community servers and then I leave from those and finish those jumps in "create server" mode so I dont have any lags. But is there an easier way to find those maps? I would like to do other maps than just those basic maps. and PS: what tier is jump_zero_v2 and jump_academy2 hardest courses?
I prefer jurf and mid tier maps, where you'll learn useful skills and how to control yourself... I get that people love the challenge and satisfaction of syncing like 7 rockets but you're never going to do that in a game
I totally get that, felt the same way myself for a while too. Turns out doing those jumps teaches you a really precise and accurate sense of timing, spacing, and control of your character, though, so even if you never get to pull off that stuff while doing pvp, it still helps in some ways. Of course, if your primary focus is competitive rather than jumping, choosing to spend too much time working on rocket jumping is a mistake when you can put that time into other skills. Eventually, the "challenge and satisfaction" of doing hard jumps won me over and I found myself rocket jumping all the time rather than playing other stuff.
@@axiostechno Yeah, that's because TF2's the best single player game of all time, and the multiplayer is awful because it has sniper and sniper ruins everything.
I'm going to have to ask you to refrain from using such foul language, (j*rf) this is a jumper friendly channel and we can't have all these impressionable JA players thinking j*rf is acceptable behavior around here, so please, censor yourself. Yes, I know this comment is a year old, no, I don't care, yes, you probably don't get the joke, no, I won't explain it.
I've heard people say those maps are for sure t10, and I've also heard people say nincompoop is for sure *not* t10. Tiers are estimations anyway, especially for what people say in the t10 scale. And yeah, the list of maps I made could have stuff traded in/out. I'd probably actually prefer the t5's without littleman and with soar instead. I didn't want to linger forever on exactly what maps I listed, so I just settled. Some of the suggestions are making me wish I mentioned other maps though :P
hanami is definately t10 intended but there's so much cheese for the map that it's t9, bangarang is debatable, I mean, compare it to the other prefire maps like rick and nincompoop and the records on those maps, slox86 goes way faster on bangarang. I've even heard people say nincompoop is t9 and bangarang is t8 (Bonzi, a completion main, has jump_nincompoop)
