Fun fact: The DS Arms SA-58 got its name from Austria after they used some of Steyr's tooling from their STG-58s. Whenever they brought the tooling over to the US, they named the gun after Steyr Arms and their Sturmgewehr 58 rifles, hence the SA-58 designation.
I just picked up the 21" Cold Warrior SA 58 about 3 weeks ago and I love it. Oh and don't get me started about the mag situation but there's some light at the end of the tunnel. DSA is going to make more steel mags, but the polymer aren't as bad as some people say. Maybe the old ones were, but the one I got ran great after hundreds of rounds. So they're not the worse. More will be made because if there is a demand for something that can be very easily manufactured, someone somewhere will make it. It's just a waiting game. But the rifle is great, I think they did an excellent job on it, they included a case and a sling. Very nice addition but they screwed up with no damn front sight tool included. Like how are you going to add the other stuff and not include a front sight tool? It's an almost $2k rifle, at least a lot of them go for that. Some are more, some less. But still, if you can mill a receiver, you can at least cast a front sight tool. Something. Only real complaint. If you want to change the length of pull, you need the Para model. Doesn't have a buffer tube the way this one does. It has a folding stock and can take a wider variety of stocks, some of which do have different lengths of pull.
The millions of surplus FAL mags floating around the planet and they are unobtainium in the US. AK mags? No problem! But no FAL mags. Sign of the apocalypse, or third secret of Fatima. I’m not sure which. I should have bought a ton of FAL kits and mags (and AK kits) when they were dirt cheap.
