I've been lucky enough to drive both petrol and diesel options, and both have their good and not-so-good points. The AWD of the diesel really helps in the grip department, but it's not quite as lively as the FWD petrol. The ride was also far nicer on the 20d for some reason, even though it was on 20" wheels vs 19" on the petrol I drove back-to-back. In terms of styling, I adore the X2. Now if only they'd give us an xDrive 25i as with the X1...
That’s good insight, thanks for passing that on. Looking forward to driving the xDrive20d, and they are allegedly planning an xDrive25i or 30i for Australia, we hear.
I like it, especially the exterior. That BMW badge on the side adds a bit more character to this model. The interior is ok. I mean can't expect too much from a BMW. Overall, very informative review.
VDC and rear cross traffic alert should be standard really for price - nice looking car/crossover albeit interior colour on your test car a bit garish and M140i more my thing
Yes, they should definitely be standard. BSM and RCTA are not even available on this platform, which isn't great. I do like the look of it, though. But yes, as you say, M140i would get my money.
mechanical front seats is something what other brands do not have even past 40k price tag. To see mechanical seats with 56k price tag is to say at least - surprising...
X2 is not an SUV according to BMW, they call it SAC that stand for Sport Activity Coupe hence its lower roofline compared to X1,X3 and X5. Its a crossover of a Coupe and SUV, so its unique. They put emphasis mainly on this in road handling like a coupe with a bigger body like SUV.
I am you follower from israel you are a profesional drive tester thanks for your tests and and car of today was wonderfull and specially the color if the interior it was interesting and stange
Yeah, the full safety suite should be standard. It's particularly poor that blind spot monitoring/rear cross-traffic alert isn't available at all, even as an option.
Isn't Kia the brand owned by Hyundai or something like that, which is a brand that literally copied the Mercedes Benz S class exterior with its previous generation Hyundai Genesis?
Nice review. Not feeling the car though. In general, BMW trying to be all things to all people is, while understandable, off-putting. They have become a better-branded VW.
Nothing wrong with an attractive set of analogue gauges, tbh - better than a poor quality digital dash. That said, Audi Virtual Cockpit sets the standard.
That additional bmw badge on the side is just crass.....something one would expect from an unknown young upstart car company not a respected brand like this.
Interesting feedback. I do think that both BMW and Mercedes-Benz have struggled to make their entry level cars feel sufficiently special in the past. Audi, I think, have done a better job of it.
not worth the price , outdated interior (however the red is nice) you have to go to upgrades to have it somewhat acceptable and then the price is absolutely killing it.. bmw should wake up, I have already switched half of my cars to different brands .. sad
I have this car trying to put the seat belt on is a pain in the ass. Steering wheel feels very cheap. Interior is cheap n terrible. The car shuts off at stop lights and stop signs kind of annoying. Definitely not worth the money
am I only one who thinks this black looks really good? its so deep black!
This was a really great black, I agree.
For extra info, this is Black Sapphire metallic ($1,190 in Australia).
True story!
Amir K that’s what she said !
Black metallic is nice but a nightmare to keep clean. I reccommend a grey or silver colour.
Best review for this car on UA-cam. No cap
Dude, it's shorter compared to the X1, not longer

That's what I'll hang out for. Given it's the alleged sporting version of the X1 platform it should have the most sporting drivetrain...
I like it, especially the exterior. That BMW badge on the side adds a bit more character to this model. The interior is ok. I mean can't expect too much from a BMW. Overall, very informative review.
Thanks a lot Ethan.
good review. i have this x2, and mostly agree with you. mine has the rear-viewing camera... which is a must on this model i say.
Thanks Ann. Totally agree, visibility is a bit poor rearward, so the camera is a big help.
I think I need one of these! Great review!
Thanks :)
Beautiful interior!
Looks great in the Magma Red we think
X2 bmw deutsch
Quite a lot of equipment in these are added extras that its cheaper rivals have as standard..?
Yes, I did my best to flag that as I went along. The leather, larger touchscreen, and panoramic roof are all optional here.
I love it
Good review! But what do you mean by 8L per 100 km is good :-(

Agreed. Electric adjustment really needs to be standard at this level.
another great video. this channel is going to have a great future. keep up the great work :)
Thanks a lot, much appreciated.
Would get white interior or just black.
Not a fan of the Jaffa?
It’s a crossover between a crossover and a coupe
The only thing that interior is missing is a shinny disco ball.
LOL

OK but that's just marketing. It's a small luxury SUV.
@@chasingcars Yes! I have the same in black and I love it!
its very stylish and cool car ! ))
Great review mate, but it is really sad to see mechanical seats for that price.
Yeah, it should have electric seats included.
I am you follower from israel you are a profesional drive tester thanks for your tests and and car of today was wonderfull and specially the color if the interior it was interesting and stange
Thanks a lot! Yes, we loved the interior colour.
Sick exterior, shame they didn't upgrade the interior
A different interior would have been cool but there are at least a few unique parts, like the centre console grab handle.
I love the interior 😍
To have sunroof or don’t? Pro and con?
Pro: light, fresh air. Con: cost, reduced rear headroom
not DSG...8 speed Aisin automatic
It’s appallingly that it doesn’t have the safety tech for something that expensive and for that brand
Yeah, the full safety suite should be standard. It's particularly poor that blind spot monitoring/rear cross-traffic alert isn't available at all, even as an option.
Is that orange peel at 1:35?
Just odd lighting, I hope.
This vs Mini Countryman S
That'd be a fun comparison. Will see what I can do.
Looks like a Kia from the side.
But then all cars look alike nowadays.
So much similarity out there. We actually thought the X2 had a decent dose of personality though.
Kia is good at copying other brands. They are completely lacking brand identity. Just a Korean Copy Sweatshop aka KCS.
Isn't Kia the brand owned by Hyundai or something like that, which is a brand that literally copied the Mercedes Benz S class exterior with its previous generation Hyundai Genesis?
Just get an X3, its cheaper and more practical?
Jinxy NZ its not cheaper
Yeah, not cheaper in Australia I'm afraid - the X3 about $10k more - but arguably you're getting a lot more car with the X3!
470 liters of space? I usually like the metric system.. but wow..
Nice review. Not feeling the car though. In general, BMW trying to be all things to all people is, while understandable, off-putting. They have become a better-branded VW.
Thanks for your comment. That is definitely a danger of entering every niche… the brand loses a bit of exclusivity
Dude in black it looks like a Hyundai Tucson
If you squint a bit
The interior design is soooooo outdated...its 2018 and still analogue dials , gosh !
It’s a reference to the BMW M1 supercar of the seventies.
8.5 at 100 km........yeah. When you drive like a grandpa and keep up with the snails....LOL
Awful grey trim on the X pack
Still cheaper than an Amarok.
Like yeah…but no V6 TDI!
It's shorter than X1 !!
The interior is not interesting, looks cheap for a bmw. I’m disappointed & totally would’ve bought is if it was a bit of higher quality
Interesting feedback. I do think that both BMW and Mercedes-Benz have struggled to make their entry level cars feel sufficiently special in the past. Audi, I think, have done a better job of it.
@@chasingcars Indeed, I think bmw did a good job with their x4 and x5 latest interior but their x2 is very lacking for a high end car.
Another glorified hatchback...
There's going to be more and more of this little hatch/SUV genre. As always, though, it's hard to get around that higher centre of gravity.
not worth the price , outdated interior (however the red is nice) you have to go to upgrades to have it somewhat acceptable and then the price is absolutely killing it.. bmw should wake up, I have already switched half of my cars to different brands .. sad
they keep the price high so not every one can buy them
Until it gets a electric moto no thanks..
Nothing special and too many options. There are much better cars around for the money.
What would you personally have over the X2?
Chasing Cars Good question. Personally I would rather have a Hilux SR5, Stinger, WRX Sti, CX5 or Sportage.
Xxx tentacion is dead... Thanks god
Just a cheap, barebones version of a Kia. Everything is optional, optional optional.
Value does seem a bit lacking in the whole crop of these small premo SUVs ... especially compared to the regular hatchbacks they are based on
I have this car trying to put the seat belt on is a pain in the ass. Steering wheel feels very cheap. Interior is cheap n terrible. The car shuts off at stop lights and stop signs kind of annoying. Definitely not worth the money
You can turn the Stop-Start off.
Donald Findley I also own this car and have no issues with any of what you mentioned. To each their own..
