I had one of these as a courtesy car while my M140i was in for a service. What a revelation, make no mistake this is a great car. The one I had for the day was a 2-litre diesel auto x-drive, I found it good looking and brilliant to drive. PS. I love BMWs evolution rather than in your face revolution interiors that some manufacturers go for. It's a nice place to be.
To me, this is a car for 'professionals' and childless/retired couples who would only need the better practicality and space of the alternatives if they have any children. Still, its a lot of money, nice, but a lot. Quite a few very decent, similar sized cars on the market for £5-£10k less though. Better looking than the X1 IMHO. That interior is still as dull as dishwater though, like all BMWs.
I agree with most of the things you said. However, i think idrive is absolutely brilliant, it’s so much easier to use on the move that touchscreen systems, that’s on reason why i’m not a big fan of the audis of late, they’ve ditched the rotary wheel controller for a touchscreen that is mounted really low down, it just seems hard to use and very unsafe to me
FWD? Wow, I didn't realise that. Is the 1 and 2 series FWD as well? Good review though. I like how he gets to the key points rather than bleating on about cup holders and glovebox size (like some other car review channels I won't mention!) and he's honest about the car (unlike some other car channel presenters who seem to be in the pockets of the manufacturers!)
Gavla Tennis no, the current f20 1 Series and the 2 Series coupe and convertible are rear wheel drive. However the 2 series active and gran tourers are front wheel drive as they are based on the same platform used in MINI’s
Another top review. A fine car, hugely capable and well built, and yet I find BMWs so very dull...maybe perfectly mirroring their buyers? The Volvo, and even more so the Peugeot 3008 are just so much more interesting in everyway...imho.
I like the X2, prefer it to the X1 but as mentioned in the review the interior is dull and hasn't changed much since my 2016 1 series. I'm a bit annoyed he didn't get in the back and say how tall he was though...
Fantastic review. I'd watch you reviewing toasters, mind. As for the car - great, but I just do not get the whole 'crossover' thing. That's because I'm an old fart who drives a Honda Jazz, reading your "Mustn't Grumble" magazine .... ;-)

What's the brush doing on your backseat at 4:20? Your quiff looks neat, tho.
Ha! Well spotted. My daughter's, I swear. M. :-)

Fair comment mate. It’s nice to have someone disagree without resorting to name calling. 😀
"That's the price you pay for showing off" - almost biblical

The X2 is available with all-wheel drive in some markets.

3008 is just crap to drive though with underpowered engines. It's not even in the same market segment as this car.
@@gavlatennis2824 you mean price segment? :-)
the x4 and x6 looks just fine it is not ugly

Many Thanks,
Peace From London? 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome review as always.
What's with the anemic & stretched rear tyre on the blue X2 in the pic? Needs some fattys.

I-Drive is brilliant! What you on about lad. It also saves getting your screen full of fingerprints.
Glad you like it. :-D
Doesn’t the current iDrive 6.0 also feature a touchscreen? The unit on my [USA spec] X2 certainly does.🤔
Great review as always, if a little long in the tooth... Hardly review in a few 😂
Another bloody crossover , what a surprise 😫😫😫
No Android Auto available is the only reason I will not get this car, shame really
Or you’re the neighbour 🤣🤣🤣
Riddle: not a coupe not an suv? ......hhhmmmmm it must be a dumb car
X1 is better
