Korg Modwave: Jam with factory presets. Sound Demo/No Talk

- I've just got the brand new Korg Modwave, and in this video I'm giving it a try.
I love how a timbre can be changed via 4 Macros/Mod Knobs, X/Y Kaoss Physics and Modwheel. This gives great possibilities for live, jams, performances.
I'm excited to start working with it and make hundreds of presets. Stay tuned.

I love these no talking videos. Straight to the point.
What I'm enjoying about this machine is that everyone that demos it is getting very different results.
Even with presets the options to mangle and manipulate seem extensive enough for it to coloured by the style of the individual.
Yes, you may be a master of the colour)
Thank you for that demo jam. Very informational.
thank you ❤ i am in love with this machine ,sounds beautiful !
Nicely Done!! Subbed!!Cheers!;-)!!
Thank your
great
Thanks
Отлично! Очень вдохновляющие новые Корги.
И я рад, что они реально развивают "мировой" синтез, чего не скажешь о многих других производителях, которые выпускают новые синты, в которых нет ничего нового.
yeeee
I just ordered a wavestate. After hearing this demo, I think maybe I should have gotten the modwave. Love how this is more electronic sounding.
I've got a big collection of sounds for wavestate. Probably I'll find it interesting too
Well yeah..wavestate uses audio samples while this uses wavetable synthesis.
Sounds absolutely fab. Thanks for the demo. I will be selling my Digitone to get this. Is that a wise choice? Considering that I don't get so much satisfaction from the sound when changing parameters in a FM-synth - the final sound is fine but what's important for me is how the sound morphs / progresses when changing parameters. How do the changing of sound compare to FM-synthesis?
To my taste modwave is more interesting from the point of view of possibilities, it's more versatile. I can't compare their sound as i never had digitone.
The top feature of the Digitone (4 parts - 4 op FM synth ) is the sequencer, the modwave, or even an Opsix (1 part - 6 op fm synth) don’t have the Elektron’s sequencer possibilities...
You can have morphing sounds with an opsix (with the sliders) , but it’s more complicated or difficult maybe compared to a Modwave... I’m going to get a Digitone in a few days, especially for his sequencer top features .. already got the modwave and the opsix.
With 6 operator Fm synthesis , you can go virtually anywhere, and most of the time it drift to metallic and dissonant sounds, whereas with a wavetable synth, you stay comfortably in the ... wavetable you have choosen !
So is it wise to sell your digitone ... depend if you need / use / love the sequencer, if you usually use your digitone with an external sequencer, then maybe you have done a wrong choice ...
@@sebastopol8933 I agree 100% that the sequencer is one of the things to beat in the Digitone. I also own the Octatrack and use that mainly for sequencing other gear. My point here was more of a subjective thing. I love the sounds you can get out of it, but I don't really like the sound of the FM-engine when changing parameters in the synth-engine (compared with other synths, say subtractive synths)
How do you program start offsets on samples that do not have that option? Pls help
I can't do anything with it, just use it as it is. Not a big problem for me
Amazing demo brother. I got the opsix and wavestate. U think getting this would be redundant? Or complimentary ?
hello, thank you for the feedback. to my taste, opsix + wavestate is enough. modwave is, of course, a different thing but it has much in common with wavestate
@@AntonAnru nice, thanks i was thinking of getting modwave to comple the trifecta, but alot of sounds seem to be wavestaty. Really appreciate the reply! Love your channel. Keep rockin’ 🥷
Wavestate + Modwave
Mine was just shipped out today. Cant wait to pair it with the wavestate that I've uploaded with 4 gigs of omnisphere samples.
This will be a beautiful duet
Wow how you did that???
Is this better than the wavestate???
In what aspect? anyway, i think they are equal
I saw an interview with the developers and I think he descibed it very well. Think of the wavestate going from the top down and the modwave from the bottom up in terms of creating complexity in sound.
Interesting. But i don't understand what top-bottom way and vice versa means.
@@AntonAnru I think it's something like, with the Modwave, starting more simply and building the sound as you would in a subtractive style. The Wavestate has a subtractive-style signal path but the wave sequencing gives you a lot of options at the beginning of the chain.
edit: Software developers sometimes think in these terms. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top-down_and_bottom-up_design
Cool, that makes sense
Modwave or wavestate ??😱
Modwave, as it's possible to play with waveforms. Wavestate has "fixed" ones only
@@AntonAnru I suppose it depends on what you want to achieve . I love the sounds on wavestate but also loving the modwave.
That's true, i agree
I would say both because I just got finished listening to Sweetwater's jam session with both at the same time no seriously get both if you can, wow the possibilities 😰
Answer: YES!
