4:02 Thank you for that. “Once, There Was An Explosion” I see you there.
I ran through this by myself at guitar center. I had to force myself to stop, it was fun, easy operate, even for a dinosaur without a blemish or hiccup. This is the kind oh instrument where I think about selling my car so I can buy one. I can take a bus or walk cuz the knobs on this thing control more than the modulation n waves, they twist the universe, the very fabric of time n space... All I can think about is going down tomorrow n playing more
I enjoyed that comment... thoroughly. Good work ,Mike.
Did you sell your car?
"This is the kind oh instrument where I think about selling my car so I can buy one." ...You driving a Lada or something? 😅 ...These are pretty affordable, no need to sell the car.
@@SymbolicSpleneticthey are being sarcastic
I'm just smiling, it sounds so cool. So much inspiration out of these sounds. Now I'm dreaming of having it 😵💫
Thank you for showing which patch (by zooming in on the lower right). Beautiful demo!
Great demonstration. I love the sounds.
You had me at "no talking"
JACKED. I like the presets the most on this particular korg over the XD AND the wavestate. So much warmth overall . At least ti my ears. I. Looking to pick up my first synth. Something that can move as fast as I can think on the sax making loops and lines on the fly. I think I the op six may be the one .
Looks like to be a new beast from Korg!!
Just amazing
Da fallen mir gleich ein paar 90 er Rave, 2 Step und UK Garage Produktionen ein 👍🏻👏
2:36 WOWWWWW!!!!!! That sounds amazing
I’ve been looking for the perfect synth for electric pianos and this is it!
Same here, patches 021 (Original FM EP) and 022 (FM Dyno Tine EP) are important to have aboard!
They presets are killerrr!
14:54 killer instinct on the snes to a T 👌👌🙌🙌
Such a beauty
So cool!
25:38 "Death Ladder" = Death Adder from Golden Axe on Genesis? The most FM synthy game console
Love the Squiggle for the vibrato
The 5th Stab is amazing
*Mod Crunch sounds like and AWESOME guitar model.*
Fantastic ! nothing displeases me !
That’s chock full of stuff!
Beautiful! Come on korg! Desktop version please, I don't have enough space!
There’s always the Digitone.
@@zerocrossing I'm not that familiar with digitone, but from the videos I watched on digitone it sounds quite different from opsix.
@@zerocrossing A nice alternative, but also quite limiting in FM. Only eight algorithms with four operators - and the B operators share a single envelope.
@@brianobush Yeah, they skimped on flexibility to make things more immediate. Still, I think the sound has a cool vibe. I came really close to buying one to pair with my Analog RYTM, but I decided instead to get the Analog Four and keep my FM in software, or what I can get out of my Peak or Prophet 12. I’m actually fine with that setup. The thing about this that seems interesting is the interface. There’s nothing sonically that it would give me that I don’t already have.
Total agreement,it’s just weird they don’t offer both versions on stuff like this.
It put me in the mindset of a modern DX7 (but by korg)
Great video, but we need a detailed review of its step sequencer
Wonderful sounds. Wished this interface was available back in the day when DX-7 was king.
That would have caused a rift in the space-time continuum. Too much awesomeness.
DX7 was never king, it was just there.
@@wgaule No, it wasn't 'just there'.
@@wgaule
It was the KING 83--86
It was EVERYWHERE.
26:08 Hammerblade similar to Aphex "Isopropolex". There are some interesting beatz on here!
Thanks!
Well, at least the synth rocks, even if I'll have to replace over half of those presets.
Contrary to what many people are saying about presets I think most of them are really good and inspiring.
The fairy tweets preset was absolute🔥🔥
Hello, does this board support SST? (Seamless sound transitions, when changing program the previous sound is not cut?)
I have a korg 01 w fd from 1991 and I love it, but its so heavy.. I would love to have a modern version, easier to tweak but sorta with some of the sounds synthesised acoustic sounds, which I really like, not samples - it has a magical sound. the sax, clav, horns etc does anyone perhaps recommend the opsix as a modern close replacement? or other suggestions? I would appreciate it! thanks :)
Wow man, the sounds on this are far beyond what I assumed it would do. Is this the real power of FM synthesis??
I had Opsix benched next to Hydra a few weeks back and someone walked in with the Modwave. Thought I'd been sucked into a sonic vortex and left the planet or something lol. We really are living in a golden age for affordable hardware synths.
infinite !
Its a dx FM type, pads beautiful and eléctrics pianos and some FM sound dark but not is a complete fm
This the best demo of opsix ua-cam.com/video/fmb6GlWJKzs/v-deo.html
But the humble is another world sound
@@noisynois1670 thanks for this vid
Ambi Sine patch is real Nice!
around 140 there are some wild sounds coming out of this thing.
How drums are incorporated into some patches?
Hello from Tallinn! I've heard the massive sound of this new synth. And would you could tell me about this crazy maschine? Thank you so much
You can check out the other video about it on our channel called: „First Look at the Korg Opsix“ There‘s some more infos about it.
I
In fact, it's Sytrus from FL Studio :) And this is cool.
Hm, I’m usually against FM hardware synths, but this one looks like great fun to tweak. Shame about it having a keyboard, though.
yeah well, NI continue being little bitches that refuse to give us a multi-timbral hardware FM8 with NI effects, the thing would so sell
2:04 Underground Resistance
Cercavo un synth...abbordabile, per creare tappeti musicali in sintonia con la musica che intendo fare...associando strumenti ' insoliti'. Questo piccolo mostro fa per me..lo ordino il prossimo mese
The OpSix is a really outstanding synth, but its presets don't do it justice. It can do so much more.
Это точно. Чуть было не расхотел купить )
Beautiful babe
Agree. I look at presets in general as a demo. You want the most for to work for it
Agreed. The drum sounds for example only scratch the surface. I've created a complete 808 drum kit on mine.
Sounds like it'd be good for Detroit Techno.
5:29 Super Castlevania like ❤
how do the keys feel?
The Ending! Init
027 sounds like a banjo. lol
059 sounds like some kind of synth organ.
071 sounds like the gong synth from Beat It.
252 Rock on!
Can you change the Leslie effect on the organ sounds? (make it faster/slower)
9:16 , 10:40 oh hell, yeah!!!
Don`t get me wrong, the presets are not what I have expected. Thanks for sharing them.
Welp crap now I gotta buy this thing.
I just come to listen when I''m high, I love it is like changing radio stations but every radio is playing a better song and it gets trippy af
Does it have choirs/ vocals?
You want the Korg Wavestate.
Good demo. Thanks.
Unlike almost all of the FM synths I own (TX7, TX81Z, WT11, TX802), this one doesn't respond to CC2 (Breath) and there's no way to map it, or as far as I can see, any other CC, to control timbre and volume with a breath or wind controller.
While I don't always use them with with one, I like to have that option, so I'm going to give this one a miss, for now.
For $350 you cant have a Mini Moog ya know??
@@kimdiez2681 The Behringer Model D wasn't much more than that, new, so you kind of can.
The feature I was talking about is just an extra little bit in the firmware. It would have cost virtually nothing to provide it, and would have resulted in more sales, which would easily have paid for the programmer's time.
@@TooSlowTube Oh I gotcha you are right !
90 pcnt of preset sounds are useless, also how do you switch off the effects??
Is the VST version exactly the same , I don't use software synths but may get the vst of this as I , like many people have no room for another keyboard especially a poor 37 key one , and the 16 step sequencer is not enuff.
I want that Cycles preset, it's so laidback and relaxing.
Its like Sega Genesis... in a keyboard. 😆 🤣
4:05 imagine he would play death stranding
I ordered an ERM multi clock from them and even though they listed it as in stock they sent us an email that said they would let us know . That was a year ago before COVID. Still no word no multi clock nothing . If you live in America look elsewhere. Peace Christo👽🐕🛸☮️🎶
FM
This needs to be compatible with DX7 patches.
It is.
What do you actually want? A DX7 or a modern FM Synth? The korg Volca fm imports dx7 patches, this one does, too, it even has a waveform to match ancient sounds. To me this sounds like pc users demanding compatibility with old Microsoft programs.
This machine would have been fine even it had only 4 operators like the Yamaha tx81 because of its waveforms. But it has 6 operators like the dx7 to mimic the shortcomings of the dx7 which had only sines.
@@hermask815 Do new FM synthes such as FM-X, opsix, have 16 parts when making midi songs?
@@FuZhixiang if you mean by 16 parts that you have 16 midi channels that can play 16 different presets at the same time, then the answer is NO !
But then again nor do recent synths of any kind.
Blofeld does but it is over 10 years old.
Modwave does 4, digitone does 8.
So that’s not the fault of FM but manufacturers in general. shame on them all.
My question: if a synth has the ability to play 16 channels at the same time … shouldn’t it also have 16 separate hardware outputs like balanced 1/4 inch sockets?
I mean if it hasn’t, don’t you have to record the channels one after the other ?
@@hermask815 That's a good question that I've never expected to come since I've ever been playing with none-FM synthesizers. As for your question, my primary thought tells me the word "internalization". Synth-makers might provide multiple tangible audio jacks on their premium models, but utilizing virtual wires should be a more cost-saving solution. At the master stage, they can set a pair of analog outputs or configure an internal USB soundcard for exporting the whole session without devling into any recording procedure.
First two minutes sounded horrible. Day later I watched the rest of the video and I actually think this is an awesome synth! Lots of organ sounds. Funky plucky stuff.
Thanks for the demo! It's a great synth, but factory presets are mostly disappointing, in my opinion. They should've showcased more useful capabilities of the instrument.
my first synth was a korg and after 20 years i played a lot. forget the presets...90% useless... but making presets is big big fun!!
That’s what you think. Me too. But there are these persons demanding dx7 compatibility. Why? I guess they’re only capable to load presets and haven’t grasped FM synthesis. They will get brain freeze when they get to a fully analog synth with no chance to save anything. The only preset are the knob positions when you turned it off last time.
Ironically, this is what many folks do with their gear.........lol...all the gear, no idea!
😂🤣
We have some cool kids here in the comment section, everyone watch out! **rolls eyes**
Anyways, I would like to have this...but the price is too rich for my blood.
Wait a year. Or 6 months for an “open box”/b-stock deal.
Moist vibe and dark pad
61 key bi timbrel with poly after touch and effects per layer.....please make it so Korg....$1299.00. GO.........give us your version of a 3 dimensional expression controller..make it $1499.00...mmmmm
I
I have a Wavestate which I love, I then bought the Opsix. Despite its great looks, it's hard for me to imagine even a 1/3 of these presets ever being used. It's okay if you like to make noises, not so cool if you want to make music.
Which one? The wavestate or the opsix?
I still prefer old FM machines somehow to this.
Great synth, but *no aftertouch?* Not even mono-aftertouch!?... Wtf Korg!?... No thanks. I'm waiting for fully functional version. I hope it's released in reasonable future.
Thanks for demo.
After touch isn’t even that useful or musical. If after touch is the reason why you’d decide not to buy this then I don’t know what to tell you
@@defaultcolor If you believe AT is not that useful or musical, especially in FM synth, than you clearly do not know what you're talking about.
I've owned Yamaha DX7s for 30 years and I can't imagine it without AT. It's a great feature allowing you to modulate the sound *directly* with your fingers, but nowadays, with all the technology advancements, corporations like the same Yamaha, Korg or Roland, tell you to pay $3k for that... So, let them take your money and enjoy that crippled keyboard.
It does support aftertouch, just the keyboard doesn't.
Honestly the VolcaFM (with a bazillion free DX7 patches online) sounds just like this.
This probably has more FX parameters but still…same tingy-FM-synthesis sound that’s always weird-&-cool-but-unpredictable when a parameter changes 🤷♂️
i do'nt like it its more of a sound purist synth then a rave machine like the wavestate is and i need a rave machine
Очень слабо! Digitone уделает его по всем фронтам, ну а корговский интерфейс и сиквенсер, это боль и печаль!
the presets arent too interesting, im more interested in creating my own
Well that’s what you think
The presets are low-key trash
@@adam.recording tbh now that you think about they kinda are
Be better if you knew what you were doing
An interesting release. But, these "DX7-ish" types sounds bore me to tears........
Stop production on the Opsixes, Korg! Jeff Jenkins is BORED.
@@christopherkirk6493 😎
I'm not and I've loved the sound since 1983 and cant get enough FM. Cuts through any mix and layers perfectly.
lol Jeff let me take a look at those ears buddy.
Largely uninspiring.
Thats where we all differ.
MEGA Fm is more interesting than this.
i'm torn appart, this synth can do much more but i don't like the menu diving and the very slow speed on the rotary knobs. you have tu turn so much for a parameter to move.
Like 15% of the sounds are useful the rest is TRASH, sounded like a fricking video game to me.
Welcome to the world of FM
Does a lot, does not sound very good. Not good detail, no depth. Korg does not care. They're selling amateur gear to amateur musicians. Korg: "Then buy a Chronos."
Ugh, this thing brings back he worst of the 80's!
Has some good presets but also a lot of worthless dreck imho.
It sounds awful. Cold and stiff. These sounds are completely useless.
I can get better sounds out of a Volca FM, and this thing is a Volca FM on several big shots of steroids. Best get into FM design and replace those factory presets.
Arrogant much? You’re describing sound with physical properties. You must be copying all the posers who do the same thing.
To you maybe.
@@Jason75913 Now you are just joking?
Merely Subjective. I completely disagree. This isnt even scratching the surface of ability.
