I've been asked several times to share my build setup for this so I'm going to pin it. It is a very safe build with probably a much bigger safety net than needed but I wanted to use a build that would be fairly easy for anyone especially for first timers and newer players not used to doing solo arenas. The trial gear from Aetherian Archive can be earned from normal. There is no perfected version so the only difference is the body pieces drop in blue not purple. The dungeon set from Wayrest Sewers can also be earned from normal. The Maelstrom staff can also be the normal version if you don't have veteran or you can just back bar another Sergeant's Mail staff. The Maelstrom staff is not a cornerstone or must have piece by any means. The only vet dungeon you'd need to run for this build is Banished Cells II for the Maw of the Infernal Helm. This setup is a bit old now but here is what I was using at the time. It is a heavy attack build to proc Minor Vulnerability from the Infallible Mage set. 2 pc monster set with divines trait and max magicka enchant (1 medium & 1 light from vet Banished Cells II), 5 pc Infallible Mage with divines trait and max magicka enchant (from Aetherian Archive trial), 3 pc jewelry Sergeant's Mail with Bloodthirsty trait and Weapon/Spell dmg enchant and Lightning Staff on front bar with precise trait and weapon dmg enchant (from Wayrest Sewers dungeon) and on back bar the Maelstrom Lightning staff with Infused trait and Shock enchant. Front bar: Twilight Matriarch (provides emergency heal to you and pets - would use Tormentor now instead), Volatile Familiar, Crystal Fragments, Daedric Prey, Hardened Ward and Greater Storm Atronach. Back bar: Twilight Matriarch, Volatile Familiar, Critical Surge, Unstable Wall, Boundless Storm (would use Hurricane now instead) and Elemental Rage. Mundus: Was using The Mage in this but I would use The Thief now. Mage gives more max magicka which meant a bigger dmg shield and that was just extra insurance for me on vet when I did the trifecta. More crit from Thief = more damage and faster kills and is better if you're comfortable with the arena. Blue CP: Wrathful Strikes, Fighting Finesse, Deadly Aim, Weapon's Expert. Red CP: Boundless Vitality, Rejuvenation, Fortified, Siphoning Spells
Just an FYI for anyone who hasn't finished these achievements yet. When doing the High Flyer one, you do not have to grapple from one point to another. Just stand beneath one point and repeatedly grapple it. So much easier than jumping around all over the place 😂

I know im late but something I just found out if you can't find the orbs there's a trick if you just teleport out before you fight the first boss for the wounded portal then you can keep collecting the first couple of orbs you find :) pretty sure you can the the others the same way but this one I just kept teleporting after collecting and went to alkir desert and went back and just sneak past the mobs and pick the main orb up and kept finding the same ones I picked up.
Great tip! Sometimes an orb or two just seem impossible to find during a single run. Resetting them by porting out before the first boss can save you from having to do a second or third full run to get them all.

Thanks for letting me know this helped! For doing solo arenas, magsorc is always my main. I got my first vMA clear on that class and have kept that character as my arena farmer ever since. In other PvE content like overland questing, dungeons, and trials, I've mained as a stamplar for several years now.
I tested running vet on Arcanist with Oakensoul and blew threw it. I may have to do an update to show just how good that setup is for arenas. I hadn't tried using Sea Serpent's Coil but will have to take a look at it now.
You can reset it and do it as many times as you want. Over and over. Once you complete the quest and turn it in, leave the area then toggle the difficulty back and forth between veteran and normal on the group screen. That should reset it. Sometimes you just have to fast travel around to a couple of places to give it a few minutes to reset.
I can't understand how to do the achivments to unlock the black dye, I watched the video but I got confused... the only achivement i unlocked was the one with the grappling hooks.. I am confuse what i need to do with the rest, I searched also other guides but it seems complicated...
Yeah, because there are multiple achievements to unlock and since you can only get to 2 essence areas during a run, you can't do everything needed in just one go. Minimum would be to do it in 2 runs. and going in different portal orders. What you can access all depends on the order you go in the portals. Go in the preferred order for your character type the first run and then once you clear it go back in and do it in the order for the other character type on a second run. That will let you get to all the areas needed for orbs and mini-bosses. I was on a magicka based character so I went Green->Blue->Red for my first run and then did Blue->Red->Green the second run. If you are on a stamina character, go Blue->Red->Green first and then Green->Blue->Red second.

On back bar: Twilight Matriarch, Volatile Familiar, Critical Surge, Unstable Wall of Elements, and Boundless Storm. Ultimate Elemental Rage. If you use Ring of Pale Order then you can drop Critical Surge for something else like Liquid Lightning or Mystic Orb. Also, sorcs can "cheese" the energy chain circle on the last boss by streaking through it and not killing any of the adds to break the chain. You just have to be sure that your streak will end past the chain.
@@Barn80 No problem! Daedric Prey does work with 2 pets by the way. You just need a minimum of at least 1 pet for it to count. The storm atronach ulitmate also counts as a pet so its attacks are buffed by daedric prey too! What the tooltip means by only having 1 active at a time is that you can't cast daedric prey on multiple targets at the same time. It will only affect 1 target. If you cast it on a different target before it is "done" then it will only drop off the previous without doing its full damage and then only be active on the new target. Only cast daedric prey on one thing at a time and don't recast it until it completes its full amount of time to give the mini explosion. You definitely want this one to run its full course before reapplying or you lose out on damage.
Hi thank you for the great tutorial, Unfortunatly it seems i did something wrong.... I went into the blue portal first and defeated the first gate keeper, but the grappling posts are not there, what did i do wrong?? I haven't done any other portal or a boss yet :/
The order you do the portals in makes all the difference. To get the grapple hook you would have to do the green portal first then you could do blue then red. You would have to reset your run and start it over if you want the blue side areas this time. Otherwise, just finish blue now and then you would be able to do red next because blue gives you the use of portals that you can use to get to side areas in red. Then red will give you lava protection orbs that you can use to get to side areas in green. It's kind of a vicious circle. You can only get to 2 of the portal side areas in any run and can't get to all 3 in one swoop.
Thanks so much! The build I used is a take on a Xynode Gaming sorc build that I modified for this arena. Infallible Aether on body divines all magicka, undaunted infiltrator jewels 2 bloodthirsty and 1 infused all spell damage, undaunted infiltrator lightning staff precise weapon damage on front bar, maelstrom lightning infused shock damage on back bar and Maw of the infernal monster set in light divines with magicka. Mundus: The Mage. I have shifted to using Pale Order ring as it does make it easier in vet not having to keep crit surge up. I replaced 1 infiltrator ring with pale order and dropped the maw of infernal set to use arm cops of undaunted infiltrator divines with magicka and a light infused swarm mother's guise helm with magicka enchant. I did get the trifecta in vet using this setup.
great video! any idea how i can reset the arena after completing it? i’ve tried restarting my game, leaving instance, leaving and going there on the map on foot none of it is working.
Did you try dropping the quest? That should completely reset it back to the start. Changing it from normal to veteran then back to normal can also reset it.
Did you do the blue area before going into the red fire zone to have the portal ability? There's a lever you have to pull to open up the fire secret boss that you can only get to if you have the portal ability from doing blue.
Thank you so much for this video. But ehm, I did kill the 2nd Boss on the Blue area and now the Grapple Hook things aren't there anymore so I can't go to the Secret boss.... What do so now? The grapple points were there but somehow after killing the 2nd Boss it all disappeared.. I did do the Green area first.
Once you kill the final boss of any portal area everything in that area becomes cleared and you cannot find any missed orbs and you cannot get the secret boss. You have to do any of those before you kill that last boss. Killing the 1st boss is fine and will allow you to roam and find orbs and the secret boss still. Once you kill that 2nd boss though you'll have to do another run to get it.
The essence boosters that you have to grab to allow you to see the 5 additional remnant pieces in that zone are always in the same place. The 5 remnants that spawn when you get it are in random locations in that particular portal's zone. Did you do the green portal before going into the blue one? You have to do the green portal to get the grappling hook. The order you do the portals decides which tool you get to do the other portals. Green gives the grapple hook, Blue gives the teleport, and Red gives the protection orb for walking on lava.
So if you miss a mini orb it respawns givin enough time? Like i just have to hang around the area if it disappears and wait for it to respawn? or can i just run the dungeon again to get more.
Hi Gabriel! To the best of my knowledge, the mini essence orbs for magicka, stamina, or health boosts are spawned in random locations when you first pick up the main essence orb for that area and they will stay there until you either find and absorb them or until you kill the last boss of that portal area. I've made the mistake of seeing a red orb out by one of the oblivion type gates in the lava room with the final boss and thought I could get it after I killed him but it disappeared after he died. I think all of the mini orbs despawn when you kill the final boss for that area so you wouldn't be able to go back after that. If you get to the end but haven't killed that final boss then yes you should be able to run back through and look for the orbs.
It's possible you missed an orb. Check your individual achievements that are all part of the Honor to the Spiritblood achievement for Vateshran Hollows to see what you are still missing.
The only time I know for sure remnants disappear is after you kill the final boss for that portal area. If you leave the portal and come back later to finish it, the remnants you haven't found yet should still be there. I wouldn't rule out something "buggy" may have happened though and the last remnant could be invisible because maybe it spawned in such a way it clipped into the environment. There have been runs where I absolutely could not find the 5th one and just finished the run anyway and went on.
Once you pull the chain in those side areas you can't go back up in there. The portal mechanism disables with the chain pull so if you missed grabbing an orb that was up there you can't go back for it in that run. You can reset the area by leaving and coming back but you'd have to redo that whole portal zone again.
I wouldn't really recommend going in there at such a low level and with no Champion Points if you are totally new. Having said that, with the level scaling that takes place in ESO and on normal, I won't say it is not possible. It would all depend on how well you mitigate the incoming damage and self-heal while still dealing damage. The only real dps check in Vateshran is the ring of mobs with the ghostly chain on the final boss. If you can deal 10k dmg on 1 of those you should be able to clear. Give it a try and see how it goes for you!
Total of 6 if you count the first orb. The first orb shows up as its own separate icon on your buffs and then the other orbs will have another icon that counts them up to 5. At least it does on my UI. I use Bandits.
It's called Frozen Blood. Even though the tooltip color looks red it dyes as a very shiny silver. You unlock that dye from the Harrowstorm Delver achievement by completing both Icereach and Unhallowed Grave on veteran.

You do not need to kill the final boss to unlock the dye color. All of the achievements for the void pitch dye can be done in the portal areas before the final boss.
@@Alexanderyana If you've finished the whole arena or killed the final boss in any of the red, green, or blue portal areas then you cannot go back into that portal for that run. You'd have to start a new run to try to get all orbs. Sometimes it just happens that for whatever reason an orb cannot be found and in that case I just finished the entire arena and started a new run. Eventually you will get them all. If you kill the final boss in one of the portal areas, everything despawns and you cannot go back to find anything. Once you leave a cleared portal you cannot go back in it that run. If you leave a portal area before killing the final boss for that portal, you can go back in and continue hunting for orbs. Hope that helps!
Which class are you on? You can use harness/dampen magicka from the light armor skill line on any class if your class doesn't have a built-in shield. Pacing your run across to get that first red orb is key. Shield and/or speed buff, run to a rock, grab the wisp to extend time and wait for a sec before running to the next rock. It may take a few attempts to get across successfully.
I'd say more of a time sink than a gate. You could do this all in one long gaming session and not have to wait for a day or a week to get back in to complete it. WoW had some pretty annoying time gates to unlock certain things and thankfully there's no reputation grind in this either. But yeah, anything the devs can do to make players spend more time in a game...I hear ya.
Hi, San Dera! I explain that there is a preferred order of doing portals based on character class. Being on a magicka character I did the portals in that preferred order for magicka. In order to unlock all achievements you will need to run this arena at least 2 times in different portal orders since you can only unlock 2 out of 3 essences orbs and mini bosses at any given time. You cannot unlock all achieves in one single run. I wanted to at least show where you would need to go in that green portal had you done a different order. Hope that helps!
The running on lava orbs? You have to heavy attack the orb then it explodes and gives you the shield that lasts roughly 12 seconds. If you aren't standing close enough to the orb (don't stand too far away with a staff) then the shield won't get applied to you and you'll have to wait for the orb to respawn.
@@offensichtlichfabian you need to have done the red portal before this in order to get the lava orbs to spawn. The order you do the portals determines what you'll have available.

Hey Chris! At 14:49 I do show the path to get to the green hidden boss and explain what it is...nix ox that jumps around platforms. Since I hadn't done the red portal first I didn't have the brimstone orb ability to run on lava to get back to that boss. I did explain that in the video. I also did show the path to where you would get the green essence after fighting the boar miniboss at 12:29. I do show the blue hidden boss. How to get to him is shown at 34:20 and the fight with him begins at 35:45. I have time stamps to everything if you expand the description. If you cast it on a different target before it is "done" then it will only drop off the previous without doing its full damage and then only be active on the new target. Only cast daedric prey on one thing at a time and don't recast it until it completes its full amount of time to give the mini explosion. You definitely want this one to run its full course before reapplying or you lose out on damage.

Hi thank you for the great tutorial, Unfortunatly it seems i did something wrong.... I went into the blue portal first and defeated the first gate keeper, but the grappling posts are not there, what did i do wrong?? I haven't done any other portal or a boss yet :/
The order you do the portals in makes all the difference. To get the grapple hook you would have to do the green portal first then you could do blue then red. You would have to reset your run and start it over if you want the blue side areas this time.
Otherwise, just finish blue now and then you would be able to do red next because blue gives you the use of portals that you can use to get to side areas in red. Then red will give you lava protection orbs that you can use to get to side areas in green.
It's kind of a vicious circle. You can only get to 2 of the portal side areas in any run and can't get to all 3 in one swoop.

Thanks so much! The build I used is a take on a Xynode Gaming sorc build that I modified for this arena. Infallible Aether on body divines all magicka, undaunted infiltrator jewels 2 bloodthirsty and 1 infused all spell damage, undaunted infiltrator lightning staff precise weapon damage on front bar, maelstrom lightning infused shock damage on back bar and Maw of the infernal monster set in light divines with magicka. Mundus: The Mage.
I have shifted to using Pale Order ring as it does make it easier in vet not having to keep crit surge up. I replaced 1 infiltrator ring with pale order and dropped the maw of infernal set to use arm cops of undaunted infiltrator divines with magicka and a light infused swarm mother's guise helm with magicka enchant. I did get the trifecta in vet using this setup.

great video! any idea how i can reset the arena after completing it? i’ve tried restarting my game, leaving instance, leaving and going there on the map on foot none of it is working.
Did you try dropping the quest? That should completely reset it back to the start. Changing it from normal to veteran then back to normal can also reset it.

Why is the portal not working for me on the fire one for the secret boss
Did you do the blue area before going into the red fire zone to have the portal ability? There's a lever you have to pull to open up the fire secret boss that you can only get to if you have the portal ability from doing blue.
Thank you so much for this video. But ehm, I did kill the 2nd Boss on the Blue area and now the Grapple Hook things aren't there anymore so I can't go to the Secret boss.... What do so now?
The grapple points were there but somehow after killing the 2nd Boss it all disappeared.. I did do the Green area first.
Once you kill the final boss of any portal area everything in that area becomes cleared and you cannot find any missed orbs and you cannot get the secret boss. You have to do any of those before you kill that last boss. Killing the 1st boss is fine and will allow you to roam and find orbs and the secret boss still. Once you kill that 2nd boss though you'll have to do another run to get it.

is the first orb always in the same place? and the following orb random? i went inside the blue portal and theres no grapples to get the first orb?
The essence boosters that you have to grab to allow you to see the 5 additional remnant pieces in that zone are always in the same place. The 5 remnants that spawn when you get it are in random locations in that particular portal's zone.
Did you do the green portal before going into the blue one? You have to do the green portal to get the grappling hook. The order you do the portals decides which tool you get to do the other portals. Green gives the grapple hook, Blue gives the teleport, and Red gives the protection orb for walking on lava.
So if you miss a mini orb it respawns givin enough time? Like i just have to hang around the area if it disappears and wait for it to respawn? or can i just run the dungeon again to get more.
Hi Gabriel! To the best of my knowledge, the mini essence orbs for magicka, stamina, or health boosts are spawned in random locations when you first pick up the main essence orb for that area and they will stay there until you either find and absorb them or until you kill the last boss of that portal area. I've made the mistake of seeing a red orb out by one of the oblivion type gates in the lava room with the final boss and thought I could get it after I killed him but it disappeared after he died. I think all of the mini orbs despawn when you kill the final boss for that area so you wouldn't be able to go back after that. If you get to the end but haven't killed that final boss then yes you should be able to run back through and look for the orbs.

It's possible you missed an orb. Check your individual achievements that are all part of the Honor to the Spiritblood achievement for Vateshran Hollows to see what you are still missing.
I really need help. I am finding the fortitude remnants and i cant find the last one anywhere. Is it because i found 4 and then left?
The only time I know for sure remnants disappear is after you kill the final boss for that portal area. If you leave the portal and come back later to finish it, the remnants you haven't found yet should still be there. I wouldn't rule out something "buggy" may have happened though and the last remnant could be invisible because maybe it spawned in such a way it clipped into the environment. There have been runs where I absolutely could not find the 5th one and just finished the run anyway and went on.
what happens when you miss an orb in one of the pull down chain areas in blue portal can you get back or not? thanks!
Once you pull the chain in those side areas you can't go back up in there. The portal mechanism disables with the chain pull so if you missed grabbing an orb that was up there you can't go back for it in that run. You can reset the area by leaving and coming back but you'd have to redo that whole portal zone again.

I wouldn't really recommend going in there at such a low level and with no Champion Points if you are totally new. Having said that, with the level scaling that takes place in ESO and on normal, I won't say it is not possible. It would all depend on how well you mitigate the incoming damage and self-heal while still dealing damage. The only real dps check in Vateshran is the ring of mobs with the ghostly chain on the final boss. If you can deal 10k dmg on 1 of those you should be able to clear. Give it a try and see how it goes for you!
So is there a total of 5 orbs or 6 including the first one?
Total of 6 if you count the first orb. The first orb shows up as its own separate icon on your buffs and then the other orbs will have another icon that counts them up to 5. At least it does on my UI. I use Bandits.

What is the silver dye you are wearing?
It's called Frozen Blood. Even though the tooltip color looks red it dyes as a very shiny silver. You unlock that dye from the Harrowstorm Delver achievement by completing both Icereach and Unhallowed Grave on veteran.

2 pc monster set with divines trait and max magicka enchant (1 medium & 1 light from vet Banished Cells II), 5 pc Infallible Mage with divines trait and max magicka enchant (from Aetherian Archive trial), 3 pc jewelry Sergeant's Mail with Bloodthirsty trait and Weapon/Spell dmg enchant and Lightning Staff on front bar with precise trait and weapon dmg enchant (from Wayrest Sewers dungeon) and on back bar the Maelstrom Lightning staff with Infused trait and Shock enchant.
Front bar: Twilight Matriarch (provides emergency heal to you and pets - would use Tormentor now instead), Volatile Familiar, Crystal Fragments, Daedric Prey, Hardened Ward and Greater Storm Atronach.
Back bar: Twilight Matriarch, Volatile Familiar, Critical Surge, Unstable Wall, Boundless Storm (would use Hurricane now instead) and Elemental Rage.
Mundus: Was using The Mage in this but I use The Thief now. Mage gives more max magicka which meant a bigger dmg shield and that was just extra insurance for me on vet when I did the trifecta. More crit from Thief = more damage and faster kills though and is better if you're comfortable with the arena.
Blue CP: Wrathful Strikes, Fighting Finesse, Deadly Aim, Weapon's Expert.
Red CP: Boundless Vitality, Rejuvenation, Fortified, Siphoning Spells

Do you need the final boss to get the dye?
You do not need to kill the final boss to unlock the dye color. All of the achievements for the void pitch dye can be done in the portal areas before the final boss.

@@Alexanderyana If you've finished the whole arena or killed the final boss in any of the red, green, or blue portal areas then you cannot go back into that portal for that run. You'd have to start a new run to try to get all orbs. Sometimes it just happens that for whatever reason an orb cannot be found and in that case I just finished the entire arena and started a new run. Eventually you will get them all. If you kill the final boss in one of the portal areas, everything despawns and you cannot go back to find anything. Once you leave a cleared portal you cannot go back in it that run. If you leave a portal area before killing the final boss for that portal, you can go back in and continue hunting for orbs. Hope that helps!

How to I get fortitude essence if I don’t have a shield ?
Which class are you on? You can use harness/dampen magicka from the light armor skill line on any class if your class doesn't have a built-in shield. Pacing your run across to get that first red orb is key. Shield and/or speed buff, run to a rock, grab the wisp to extend time and wait for a sec before running to the next rock. It may take a few attempts to get across successfully.

The best black in the game is time gated behind ridiculous achievements so that developers can pop their numbers and say players are playing longer. 😢
I'd say more of a time sink than a gate. You could do this all in one long gaming session and not have to wait for a day or a week to get back in to complete it. WoW had some pretty annoying time gates to unlock certain things and thankfully there's no reputation grind in this either. But yeah, anything the devs can do to make players spend more time in a game...I hear ya.

Hi, San Dera! I explain that there is a preferred order of doing portals based on character class. Being on a magicka character I did the portals in that preferred order for magicka. In order to unlock all achievements you will need to run this arena at least 2 times in different portal orders since you can only unlock 2 out of 3 essences orbs and mini bosses at any given time. You cannot unlock all achieves in one single run. I wanted to at least show where you would need to go in that green portal had you done a different order. Hope that helps!

how to activate the orbs on 15:20?
The running on lava orbs? You have to heavy attack the orb then it explodes and gives you the shield that lasts roughly 12 seconds. If you aren't standing close enough to the orb (don't stand too far away with a staff) then the shield won't get applied to you and you'll have to wait for the orb to respawn.

Hey Chris! At 14:49 I do show the path to get to the green hidden boss and explain what it is...nix ox that jumps around platforms. Since I hadn't done the red portal first I didn't have the brimstone orb ability to run on lava to get back to that boss. I did explain that in the video. I also did show the path to where you would get the green essence after fighting the boar miniboss at 12:29. I do show the blue hidden boss. How to get to him is shown at 34:20 and the fight with him begins at 35:45. I have time stamps to everything if you expand the description.
