【Ip Man 4】 Why did Chris Collins give up promoting Wing Chun in US army and returned to Hong Kong?

  • Chris Collins (Chinese name: Gao Zin) has joined the film industry in recent years.In "IP MAN 4", he will play the US Marines Karate Coach that believe Karate has the best fighting technique, and fight fiercely with IP MAN.
    In reality, Chris served in the United States Marine Corps and he is the first American Wing Chun master in Hong Kong. It turned out that during the filming of "IP MAN 4", Wu Jianhao's role reminded Chris of his personal experience.
    In the early years, Chris traveled from the United States to Hong Kong to learn Wing Chun and brought Wing Chun back to the United States. He integrated relevant technique into the US Marine Corps combat training. Originally, Chris's job of teaching Wing Chun in the military was supported by the military and everything went well. However, for one reason, he gave up his Wing Chun's career in the army and came to Hong Kong.

      I would love to work with you on my Wing Chun. I appreciate your precision and speed. I started studying the idea and concepts in 2000 and got my first chance to practice hands-on with a German officer I worked with as a bouncer. I caught him practicing during one of our shifts and I asked him if he would teach me, and at the time I was young in my early twenties, but I really wanted to learn, so while we stood at the door I attacked him with a jab and a straight. As expected he defended against it even while not fully looking at me, and struck at my stomach which I too guarded. And it was because of that moment that he told me he liked me and felt that I had a lot of potentials, so he taught me what he knew every day for about 3 months. When he and I no longer worked at the club, on the last day before leaving he gave me his Wing Chun book and signed it dedicating it to me and told me the location where he went to school at. I signed up and Sifu Emin Boztepe is who I temporarily trained with. I ended up stopping because my fiancee and I fell on hard times and ended up homeless and destitute.
      The Ip Man movies reminded me how great it feels and I have started again and your story has motivated me as well. Your Wing Chun is great.

      @mehmed bey look up Tony Ferguson. He uses wing chun in ufc. Maybe look this up before you embarrass yourself.
      Also you call it slappy shit. You don't even practice this shit, and make first glance observations as a general statement about the martial art. The fact that you can't even be bothered to look up the principles of the martial art your criticizing really shows how you are both ignorant and inexperienced with martial arts.

      mehmed bey it looks like a pretty good Hand to hand combat at close range, you can add a lot of stuff to it like kicks, or you can even hook leg the opponents leg to throw the opponent off balance plus the slap can become a punch see him using punches plus he’s not even applying that much force into it.

    • @MrOiram46
      @MrOiram46 4 роки тому +1

    The last sentence "However, for one reason, he gave up his Wing Chun's career in the army and came to Hong Kong."
    doesn't make sense. There's a distinct difference between the Army and Marines. Army isn't Marines and vice versa, just pointing that out. But the good thing Chris pointed that out early enough and says he's a Marine. I'm an Army vet of 7 years, and do give props to all my brothers and sisters at arms.

    This movie deserves a better popularisarion in the US and Europe. It is fantastic in every level! We are all tired of expensive hollywood cheesy movies that can not stand 15 min of them ...

      他是帶藝投師學詠春的。他之前是學日本柔術和海軍格鬥。詠春獨行是垃圾。李小龍創截拳道已經是最好的證明。

    Throwing some Wing Chun in with Jiu jitsu and judo. Nice 👌

      You mean Jiu Jitsu and Judo in with Wing Chun.
      Wing Chun is about fundamentals more than anything. Jiu Jitsu and Judo are more about specialist moves for wrestling and grappling.

    I like how the majority of the footage is of his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu school and it's never mentioned lol. It seems he's got a great pedigree from Clark Gracie too
