The culture here at the Market is one of a kind 🎉 We see everything from fruits and vegetables 🥭🥥 to Authentic African clothing and jewelry !! If you're ever in Accra, Ghana make sure to swing by the market as I'm sure you'll be amazed !!
Q: What does Makola mean?
A: Makola was a Yoruba expression which meant "lucky child", it refers to the practice of the parents who sent their children to begin selling in the market in order to bring good luck. Omo ko ola wole translates to "The child brings wealth home."

I don't know what it is about those outside markets that just make me feel right at home but I love them. When walking through markets like that be ready to be sold on all types of products and to have to maneuver through a lot of traffic. Call me crazy but I find it exhilarating lol.
Yoo it's crazy u say this Kev, cuz I feel the exact same way 💯 catchin the vibes n the energy is everything to me! Whatever someone's trying to sell me, if I need it and if we can negotiate a good price, I'm all about it! Vibes were heavvy in this one 🔥
Cheers to everyone making it on the daily hustle! All those beautiful foods, jewels, fabrics and crafts are just mesmerizing...thanks for sharing it! Also, a backyard mango tree would be amazing! 🧡🥭
The Hustle is real on this side! def inspiring to see others still out working 4 their income, allows me to go hard and make these the best videos I possibly can, bcuz I want to represent the country the right way! The scenery and all the sights are absolutely mesmerizing (great word). Hope you felt like you took the journey with us, more 🔥 ON THEE WAY 😎🎉

Bro we spent a couple hours there but have memories 4 a Lifetime !! 🔥We also managed to exchange money and do so much more but the camera can't go everywhere! I think we did a great job of capturing the vibes and energy. Thanks for crowning me as the B Roll Champion lol 👑 💪🏽 Let's keep dropping this 🔥🔥🔥
I like seeing how busy it is.
busy bees make the most honey playa lol

Love the hustle and bustle vibe at Makola . The statute in the middle of the roundabout at the end is the statue of famous Ga Mantse Nii Tackie Tawiah I. Pretty good video. You guys did not bargain at all. The traders definitely love you and will love to have you come back.
Lol glad u enjoyed the video family! The statue was a great way to end the video, thx 4 the knowledge 🙏🏽 haha we did some bargaining just not on camera lol .. have to maintain a balance of respect when the camera is on and not invading everyone privacy at times .. hope 2 c u bak for the next one 😎💯

Nice market
Hey Akosua 👋🏽 glad u enjoyed the market! It was such a fun experience 🙌🏽
I have been to Accra’ Makola Market so many times. My first was forty one years ago and Makola has a lot happening especially selling fishes, beefs, chickens, ripe plantains, peanut and palm oils, yams, coco yams, garis etc. Makola is so massive as well as so packed too.
Wow Kwame that's a long time ago! I'm sure so much had changed! Is there ne thing that you could noticeably see the difference btwn now and then?
Don’t ever buy things in Ghana without asking to reduce price
This is a Major Fact homie! U def always wanna negotiate at all times 👌🏽 thx 4 dropping a comment, it's much appreciated 🙏🏽
Love your videos, they’ve given me a lot to look forward to upon my arrival Monday.

@@lorettaguilbeau9871 hey Loretta how's the trip going sis?
My mum used to sell beads at the Rawlings park and I sometimes helped her after school, this brought back some beautiful memories. Visited Ghana in 2019 with my lil one and she loved it and Yh I was at Makola, had to get some few bits back with me. New subbie here and I loved your video🥰

When did mokola market become biggest in ghana ? Madam it is kajetia market 😋
Have you ever been to kajetia market? If so, what's it like ...
@@KelsAcosta Wayyyyyy bigger and busier. Makola is great, but it's not the biggest
That market is huge!! How long were you guys there?
Hey Moe !! This Market is HUGE 😲 the amount of energy in one place is truly amazing! You can buy so much in 1 place all for great prices! So we spent a good 2 hours in the Market, but the time flies bcuz you see so much! Have you ever been to a large open air market like this b4?
The closest I’ve come is flea markets@@KelsAcosta. I used to go with family when I was younger, but they were nothing like Makola Market!! I would love to see it!!
@@harperdm soon enough .. either this year or next year! ❤💛💚
I’m putting it on my travel list@@KelsAcosta!!
Kejetia / kumasi market in Kumasi is like 10 times Makola Market. It's the Biggest Market in West Africa
Point of correction lady, kejetia market is the biggest in West Africa if not the entire continent. Yes Makora is one of the biggest but it doesn't come any where closer to Kejetia.
Hello Phina, thanks for the correction, a few ppl pointed that out as well. Did you enjoy the video? Hope 2 c you back soon, blessings!
$1.75 for a mango???? we get the for free in hawaii, just go ask your neighbor's to pick their mango tree. in the mainland, it's about same price..oh wow..and this looks like flea market and mongkok in Hong Kong, Love this. i am guessing no one pays to just put up a stall? and any pickpocketers? the glasses are same cheapness as the states lol, TIME TO EAT!!!! hahahahhah
Wats up Stud !! 😎 lol that's what we thought, but ultimately it was 4 mangos for 1.75 which is a great price compared to in NYC where they'll charge you $3 for just 1 😲 Ive heard the flea markets in Hong Kong are amazing too, still have to cross off that bucket list 4sure 🔥 haha it doesn't seem like they have to pay, but I'm sure there's a few ppl monitoring all the action in the area! had no issues with pick pocketing, didn't even hear any stories of it. When I was in Barcelona and Madrid, that's all I was warned about when in big crowds. Here in Ghana you don't have to worry about that kind of stuff, which is amazing!! Thanks 4 swinging by brother !!
Mangoes are basically free in Ghana as well but if you're in the middle of huge city like Accra remember someone has to transport it there. There are mango trees everywhere in Ghana and you can pick for free too
@@mickeyf4783 very true friend 🙏🏽💯
I thought Kumasi market kejetia market was the biggest in west Africa....
I've been hearing its between that one and Makola!! I'm getting different opinions but may have to google it and figure it out for once n all .. thanks 4 watching Janice, I appreciate you Queen 😎🙏🏽 hope 2 have u back soon!
They Ashantis only say that to please their whims, they are EXAGGERATORS, do not believe anything they tell you, truth-telling is not their thing, their history is fraudulent. The FANTES are the QUIET GIANTS in Ghana.🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱🥱
@@gmog7857 no need 4 us to be divided my sister .. we are all 1 whether you believe it or not. Keep Spreading Love Queen ✊🏾
@@gmog7857 when you accidentally step on a lionesses tail and it bites the shit out of you... heeerrr which Fante are you talking about? The same ones that was too weak to fight the Europeans so they sold us out. Are you mad? Name one wealthy Fante in Ghana? Quiet for where? Liars for how? I’m not tribalistic but you are a fool to not respect the Asantes. And by the way I AM AN ASANTE!!!!!
@MGo G hey Charley! Are you an alien or what? Racist 😏
One correction. Kejetia Market in Kumasi is the biggest in West Africa. So Makola is not the biggest in Ghana
So I've heard .. how about the rest of the video?
Guys you appeared not to be wearing your masks 😷👏🏿👍🏿👍🏿🙏🏿
In certain areas no .. but we always have them just in case we enter a store that requires them .. thanks 4 watching 😎
Is Kels single?
Asking for a friend 😁
Hey Affie 😎 thanks so much for watching and being hilarious friend! I'm off the Market even tho Im at the Market! lol .. hope to see you back soon! ❤️
Point of correction its not the biggest in ghana have you been to kejetia kejetia before?
George, thanks for watching my brother! I have not been to kejetia. Have you been to Makola?
@@KelsAcosta yes but I think kejetia is the biggest
@@georgecharlesasamoah7434 🙏🏽
Speaking English there is a GIVE_UP to jack up your price. IVON should be speaking FANTI there.
She def spoke a different language when we were in the midst of negotiating. But yes your absolutely right, anytime you speak english as a foreigner they will jack up the price on you!! thx 4 watchin
@@KelsAcosta I use to watch you in the states and then one day I look around and I see you in my country Ghana visiting. You need to hook up with the LANSCURVE channel before you leave Ghana he has moved to Ghana also for good, but if you want to stay, the CHIEFS in Ghana are helping a lot of diasporans there.
@@gmog7857 hey wats up fam!! Man I'm so honored and humbled that you watch and appreciate the content! Luv connecting with ppl thru YT and it inspires me to keep making great content! Lanscurve is the name I should be doing some research on? Sounds super interesting 🔥
@@KelsAcosta they hate pricing in English I guess lol I'm from Ghana though
That's not the biggest market in Ghana. The biggest market in the whole West Africa is in Kumasi.
