    Thanks for sharing these places. This 10k-50k price range is what I'd be looking for, so this video has been really helpful.
    Looking forward to following your whole house-hunting progress - stay happy and enjoy it all!

      There are so many properties in that price range for you to choose from so I think that's a great choice. More videos coming up soon.

    Thanks for the video Tegan! Lots of food for thought there and so many ideas that come to my mind as you shared each property. Having someone with local knowledge on renovation costs certainly is a big consideration and I have been fortunate to team up with the Salento with Love team for my project. Cheers!

    Thanks for the video. I had no idea what was possible but now I do and if I had to choose I'd go for the 25k house. To be honest though, I was impressed by all of them. It's got me thinking maybe I could afford a house in Italy after all.

      Best thing to do is to contact Davide Mengoli from Salento with Love and he can guide you through the best properties for your unique situation. Be sure to let him know where you saw the property.

      Congratulations! That's so exciting. We might end up being neighbours :) Don't worry about it still being listed. They are often slow to be removed even after the sale has gone through.

      Thanks for watching. I love that one too. Unfortunately, it has just this week been taken off the market but if you contact Davide Mengolie from Salento with Love, he will be able to tell you what's currently available. Be sure to tell him I sent you (not because I receive a kick back - I don't! - but because he has become a dear friend and he will know where to look to see the property you like). Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help.

    What happens to your mail while your are gone? Do you have a forwarding service? I'm worried that I might miss something of time sensitivity from the government.

      When you buy a house in Italy (if it's done properly) it's not hidden from the government in any way. Plus you have to put your utilities etc into your own name and address so there's nothing to be hidden or dodged.

      HI T.
      I'm about 2 years into my research for a home purchase. Since you haven't answered my inquiry, then I kindly suggest you take a moment to do some research into the 7% flat tax zones/cities in italy. The salento has quite a few. There is a FB group that can point you in the right direction. Also FB has some great expat groups that can offer direction. Please please research the tax zones and give us an update as I'm following along hoping to see your dream come to life!

      Hi there, thanks for watching my video. I didn't respond to you straight away because I am currently in Australia and hence was asleep when you commented. I haven't looked into the 7% retiree tax incentive as I'm 52 and hence a wee way off retiring yet but I just googled it and it looks interesting as long as you are from a country that has an administrative cooperation agreement with Italy. Thank you for bringing it to our attention though for those who are following and are retirees it definitely is something to look into.

    I'm looking for a cheap piece of land that I can build a small home in Italy. It it possible to buy cheap land?

    • @BuyingahouseinItaly
      @BuyingahouseinItaly  Рік тому

      It is possible to buy land cheaply in Italy however it is more difficult to get approval to build a new building on land in Italy. It is much easier to build if there is already some sort of a building on the land already. Even if it's just a pile of rubble.

      @@BuyingahouseinItaly Sounds about right..I checked Spain also and it's similar.But depending on the region, it can take 6 months up to 7 years to get a licensed to build in Spain.Probably best to renovate a ruins or something.
      I wish the government would give people incentives to repopulate the countryside which is depopulated, instead of making it hard.

    • @BuyingahouseinItaly
      @BuyingahouseinItaly  Рік тому

      I agree. The government doesn't always make it easy. But they have provided a LOT of incentives over the past few years towards renovation and it has created a boom in the industry which has helped the economy. Things like increasing the energy rating of a house (windows, floors, electrics, solar) as well as incentives for replacing or upgrading your roof. And so many more. There are people I know who have had 90% of their renovation costs covered by incentives. Not as many of them still available but you never know what they will come up with next.

    What about property tax?

    • @BuyingahouseinItaly
      @BuyingahouseinItaly  Рік тому

      There are different property taxes in Italy depending on location, property type, condition, and usage. There are also different VAT depending if you buy from a private party (I don't recommend this) or a registered company. If it is your primary residence or secondary residence will effect what tax you pay. And there's capital gains tax but none after you've owned it for five years. You are best to discuss these with a registered (Italian) accountant or property professional. I'll be doing a video on the different fees in the future so keep an eye out for that one too and thanks for watching my channel.
