greatest female crooner of all time... greatest female vocalist who sang TO YOU NOT AT YOU...greatest female storyteller.... listening to karen carpenter is a down to your soul experience....
Best female vocalist of all time AND the best female drummer of all time. She was truly heaven-sent.
I've said it before. Karen's voice is a gift from the birthday boy himself.
she was/is so underrated
When I was in the service, Christmas was always the loneliest time of year, since we were away from our family and loved ones. Karan's voice always comforted me during those times. RIP Karen, who now sings with the Angels in Heaven.
The Carpenters do a fantastic version of “(There’s no Place Like) Home for the Holidays”. It is my favorite of all of their Christmas songs.
Written by Richard & John Bettis, 1971 ---------------my all-time #1 Christmas song.---------MJL, 76 y/o
Actually, the lyrics were written by their choral director in college, Mr. Frank Pooler. He had written the song to his girlfriend 20 years before who had moved to another state. Years later, and while he was Choral Director at CSULB, he gave the lyrics to his young choral student, Richard Carpenter, to see what he could do with them. And, waalaa, "Merry Christmas, Darling" was born.
The two Carpenters Christmas albums (Christmas Portrait and Old Fashioned Christmas) were staples in my house. Nothing makes me feel like Christmas as much as those albums. We listened to them every year while decorating our tree. Every single song on both albums is magic.
Oh...she's good....she's real good. Yeh she can hypnotize you.
I love your reaction you're absolutely right one of my favorite songs of the Carpenters for Christmas wow rest in peace Karen Carpenter
She was 21 in this video. She sings a a phenomenal, beautiful Ave Maria, with just the piano, that shows her range like no other song. (Richard recorded her for the harmony parts in nearly all her songs as well).
There is an interview of her basically saying she never new she could sing or do anything until Richard brought it out of her. Amazing that she never knew from the start she had talent.
Karen’s version of Silent Night is the best I have ever heard, also Ave Marie, Little Alter Boy are truly something special.
Ave Maria
Her version of Don't Cry for me Argentina
Great reaction. Now my favorite xmas song hands down. The part where she sings 'fills me with desire' just melts me incredible.
Christmas, not xmas.
Are you kidding me, now you know they have beautiful X-mas songs, and I am sure you have heard this one, you probably did not knew it was them! One of my favorite X-mad tracks of Karen!
Karen Carpenters voice just rocks! Merry Christmas to you all!
My favorite Christmas song 💖
I am loving the instrumentals and the background singers on this one. Her way of delivering a song is just one in 1 million.
the background singers were ONLY karen and her brother richard, singing, including the ending as they dubbed their voices in different ranges/octaves to sound like more than two and a small chorus... all their songs featured only the two doing the background vocals..
Do You Hear What I Hear - from their second Christmas album
Silent Night, Christ is Born, Sleigh Ride and It’s Christmas Time from their first.
She was like a shooting star. She was here for a short while but left her music and that purity in her voice we can enjoy anytime we want. I remember hearing the Carpenters Christmas songs played on the radio in the late 70's constantly and never ever got tired of hearing them. You are a VERY good reactor. Merry Christmas to you!!!!
I wrote a song lyric like that once (it wasn't about Karen, though) and Shooting Star was its title...
I have loved the Carpenter since I was a young girl listening to them in the '70s. Karen has such a beautiful voice I always wanted to be a singer and sound just like her. She has some of the if not best Christmas songs that there's out there they're just beautiful. Enjoy them
Karen Carpenter is a story teller through song. I will always love her.
Try "One More Time", "Look to Your Dreams" and "Road Ode". I think you'd really love hearing her sing these!!
My favorite song from them Christmas song is do you hear what I hear absolutely beautiful song I get what you're saying her voice is just absolutely beautiful and it demands your attention she had a way of singing that she pulled you into the music captivated to buy it that's an art that's lost been replaced by tackiness God bless stay safe bye
Love her voice.
My all time favorite Christmas song!
SO glad to hear a reaction to one of my all-time favorite Christmas songs! Never been a better female vocalist, always knew how to make a phrase come to life!
Nice reaction, Pat. Karen is very captivating. I honestly think she had one of the best voices...ever. There are plenty of excellent singers out there but her voice is so simple yet so intricate. I'm also digging the festive Adidas jacket.
There is not a better Christmas song, this is Christmas..Karen also did the backing vocals..
You need to check out her CHRISTMAS DRUM SOLO
She is one of the top 10 women drummers in the world.
It is awesome.
🥰🎶🎙
I think that video was produced for a Christmas special, but it's probably the best -produced video of any Carpenters song.
Love how you let the music play in the background as you make your comments ❤️
The sax solo is very impressive adds to the mood.
If you read her Biography and watch the movie about her, these songs have so much more meaning. ❤😢
Hi Pat. I wish you would do some more reactions. Peace.☕🍨
...even after 40 years hearing this seasonaly...gives me tears!!
Hypnotized is the right word. Love your vids.
My favorite Christmas song for sure!
I love this channel!!!!
Another winner 🏆 from the president happy holidays everyone should hear the Carpenters do this song🎅🎁
Great Reaction
Great Song
Karen’s Voice is My Guilty Pleasure Absolutely Amazing
Hi Patrick,
Could you please play Christmas song by Karen Carpenter called Christ is Born. It was also holiday TV special which she sang it with her brother and their college choir is also in the background from California state ,long Beach
Thank you so much.
You will love this. Richard said that this was a first take masterpiece and her best.
Bob
Karen is a very special vocalist. And you young man are a very special reactor
Karen Carpenter, no doubt is the best female vocalist and I can see her singing with Luther Vandross and those 2 knocking it out of the park!
It's sad that Karen never recorded any duets. Closest she came was a track on her solo album (Love In The Afternoon) on which Peter Cetera prominently sang backing vocals. (There were, though, the TV medleys that featured Perry Como and Ella Fitzgerald. Those were duets, sort of, I suppose.)
Of course, Nat Cole and Frank Sinatra, to name two, appeared posthumously in wonderful duets (Nat with daughter Natalie, more than once, and Frank with Céline Dion). Say now. How about it, whoever is the successor to A&M...? Say, One Love or Someday with KC and Josh Groban, or The Wedding Song with KC and Barbra Streisand, or Little Girl Blue with KC and Gregory Porter...
Karen sang a duo with Perry Como in 1978 I believe. @@stevetournay6103
You always say that you don’t know music Terminology it, but your descriptions are perfect to me and that’s why I subscribed aside from your personality and your joy and your understanding of the artist that I love.
This is from their annual Christmas Special. A whole corny hour. 🎶
if this does not bring a tear to your eyes.,----------I feel very sorry for you. ---------------MJL, 76 y/o
I think you would like "A kind of Hush" it was a more lighthearted song, but Karen just made it lovable.
Hi Patrick, a beautiful heartfelt reaction. I’m watching this in June ‘23 so not seasonal but beautiful nevertheless. From what I could search I didn’t find the performance I’m going to recommend. It’s 1970, so Karen is 20 and Close To You is the current hit. They performed this for the Ed Sullivan Show and it’s live and Karen is doing what she does best. The boys are just trying to keep up. It’s magical. I hope you enjoy this. It’s the Bacharach/David Medley performed at Walter Reed Hospital in front of Viet Nam War patients.

I just subscribed and thanks for the beautiful song!! Check out little alter boy and I heard the bells on Christmas day...also check out Skye edwards light of gold and clear my mind she's amazing with a beautiful voice
Karen is Christmas
What a tortured life but she left a beautiful legacy.
The video clip in your video is originally from a Carpenters TV Christmas Special and the sound is dull and not in stereo. To really appreciate Karen's vocals and the arrangement of the song, check out the original studio version mix. ua-cam.com/video/um45C86WT7w/v-deo.html
