- Galactic Contention is a star wars battlefront mod for Squad. Squad is a mil sim game. Meaning galactic contention is hyper realistic mil sim star wars battlefront. And it looks stunningly beautiful. The graphics are amazing and I still haven't played on all the maps. I've only seen Tatooine, Genosis, Kashyyyk and... other nerdier ones. I'm still yet to play it (I've been playing Racer which is on the same cartridge) so idk if they borked the port, but RC released on switch so it's still around and kicking as a 'new release'! (I played it on PC way back in the day)

I like how habie managed to call this mod soo many different names that it took me till the very end to realize he's been calling it different names all along LUL.

Galactic Contention is magical. My squad of clones got wiped out by two droid AAT hover tanks, and it was just me and one survivor cowering in the ruins of our fortification. We are crawling slowly away on our stomachs, trying to avoid the deadly tanks and regroup with our own defensive lines, when my comrade, my fellow clone, by brother, goes, "Bruh Im so fuckin' blitzed out of my mind right now, what are we doing?"
Truly the immersive Clone Wars experience I've always dreamed of.

Gritty Star Wars looked great in Republic Commando, delighted that Galactic Contention is holding that torch now.
I wish a AAA developer would jus take this style of game and make it. Battlefront II is fun but not gritty and doesn't much teamwork like this.

I played GC back when it first started getting popular and I remember being blown away by the firefights. With how many players can be on a server battles are nothing but a constant cloud of lasers
GC is one of the few mods that I enjoy more than the base game because of how well done it is, and the love put into every detail, from B2s and clone commandos both being terrifying if they get the drop on you, to you and the people around you frantically digging up a shield while an orbital strike is going off over head just to survive.
Speaking of star wars, the Contractors Clone Wars mod was updated recently. This time, they added:
- Clone Marines and Droidekas (each having new weapons)
- Battalions for Clones and Droids (You usually spawn as a random battalion, though there are some maps where it has a specific assigned battalion. For example, on the Chancellor's Office map, you will always spawn as a Coruscant Guard)
AYEE glad you covered this, the whole team is super dedicated and has put so much love into every aspect of the mod.
I played in a squad where the guy who voices the clones for the mod was the squad lead and he stayed in character the entire time... Best game of my life
I know im probably the only one who saw and commented on this, but dude, that would literally be the hightlight of my year. Playing with folks who roleplay WELL is fucking soooo fun!!

For some games like this you can live with it since you already have to be so deliberate and accurate with your shots so it's not that bad. That said stuff like Overwatch you can feel the difference between 25 and 50 ping easily on heroes like tracer where you need to track

This should be playable in VR if someone hosts a private server. The UEVR mod from praydog works with Squad but it has anti cheat

Literally just got out of a game with this mod and saw you uploaded this video. It's amazing so fun glad it's getting the attention it deserves. Disney should be paying these guys to do whatever they want because what they are doing is incredible. It's a different subgenre of shooters than SW Battlefront but it still scratches that itch of the concept

One big thing I will say about this mod is PLAY THE TUTORIAL FOR SQUAD BEFORE LOADING IN, understanding the game and how to put up FOB radio's, and build HABs, is vital to having a good experience and not getting steam rolled.
That 6:18 made my heart stop. Holy shit these lego sets were something else. I remember to this day that I lost one of the clone jet packs cause I was making an army of 'regular' clones and I threw it away somewhere.
One of my favorite Galactic Contention games was when I joined a team called Hell Jumpers where we all went jet trooper except for our LA-AT pilot squad leader and then we would jump from way above objective and obliterate the droids from high vantage points.
I actually know a guy who used to host a server for this and the Sandstorm mods. I think he spent most of his time trying to get them to uncrash because of how constantly and intensively they were running until he gave up on both and did just the Sandstorm mod
Which I'll note also still crashes pretty consistently because of popularity and assorted technowizardry
@@Zoraxon That's not true, server hasn't been crashing for some while now even when being full 24/7, it's just DDOS people if it crashes or makes people lose connection often

Been playing on gc for ages now got 600hrs in it honestly hands down best mod for sqaud, so glad you checked it out habie! you can also pay for whitelist to get on the server quicker, Been making cinematic videos for gc for a while and it kinda kick started everything gamingwise for me, from coherent groups to decent armour and amazing pilots gc has it all

Was playing GC once and the server glitched or something because one of the rounds we plated was Russia Vs the Republic. Was actually a really fun fight. Also, the T90 apparently slaps the AT-TE

It is REALLY, REALLY important to note that Squad, while a realistic milsim, is basically ARMA 3 lite. It has that milsim feel, but is much more accessible for those that don't want to have to go through actual BOOTCAMP.

@@BusinessWolf1 Hey there we know about OHD. We do not want to be apart of that project per our devs There are a plethora of reasons but in short no we will not be doing anything with OHD. As for the mod being made there, we are also aware of it but again have no interest in them.

173 ping is not really that bad if you aren't playing a slide-cancelly cod game fyi. It only really matters that much in games when you need to focus on reaction time more than tactics, which squad isn't

I live in the middle of nowhere in Idaho and used to get an average of 200-300 in a lot of games when I had my really shitty old internet provider that charged us like $60 a month for 15 megabits/second, any time someone else in my family was using the internet I would gain hundreds of ping. It wasn't uncommon for me to be trying to play on west coast servers and still get over 200 ping. I have a way better provider now and get like 50 megabits/second so unless like 5 devices are downloading it doesn't affect latency. I now get

It's good to see the classic Squad/PR "looking for a decent server that isn't at max-queue" experience also exists in the modding community.
Wow is hilarious hahaha, ex-Squad dev here! So Squad was made possible because of Project Reality, which was a BF2 mod. Some devs from PR went to make Squad.
EA on the other hand released a Battlefield skinned version of Star Wars, which is modern Battlefronts and there is a Squad skinned version of Star Wars. So its a former mod's mod's vs mod (Ofc Galactic Contention isn't offical but its nice that its there) :D
