I just bought my RV. This was really helpful. The only difference is, I don't have that black cord. I can't find any videos of how to do this without the cord..... Any ideas?
Yours could be electric. Then there should be a switch inside the camper. If not, you could try to pull down the left and right arms. The awning is spring loaded, so you need some good leverage, maybe tie a rope up at the top and pull. Good luck!
I never tried, I always clean it when pulling it back in. Just have one person hold the tension and roll it in a few inches, wipe it off, pull in a little more, clean it, and so forth. Another option could be to unlock the legs and put them aside (see video at 2:15).
Hmm. Is yours electric? You might have a switch panel inside your camper. Otherwise you could try to pull down the arms by attaching a rope on top of each arm.

Can we pull the awning all the way down and leave it at a better angle to access and clean it?
