There are a lot of people out there who have the money for both a house and an RV. Not trying to justify the prices for RVs, mind you. Yet another example of the widening wealth gap in this country. By the way, where do you live? 366k will get one a tiny 800 sq ft house where I live.

Roadtrek, we thought were the best quality class b in $130k range and it includes Lithium batteries and black tank macenator. They also offered 4x4 Mercedes $150k. We liked the 4x4 Sprinter platform the best, but the model that was in our budget with that platform was a Thor Tranquility. We knew the Thor quality issues, so we bit the bullet to fix things ourselves and replace if needed. I’m not gonna list everything that went wrong with the build (a lot of it is similar to your Thor van), but it has worked out great for us so far, especially the Sprinter platform though there are downsides to that too, but still liked it a lot more than the Promaster. And with the savings, we upgraded for offroad capabilities with suspension/lift kit, Owl box, on board air compressor and so on. If you guys are ever in the SoCal area or if we are in Arizona, you’re more than welcome to take it for a ride!

What you want to do I will advise you do it now because the prices you see today will look like dips tomorrow. Not sure how true this is, but was once told by an RV salesperson that you should never really consider buying an RV at an RV show. Was told that the dealership doesn't actually discount the RVs as much as they would have if you negotiated on their lot. This is because the dealership has to bake in all the extra logistical cost of moving all those units to the RV show, (Gas, personnel, equipment etc..). Again, not 100% sure of the accuracy of this information, but it woudl make sense.

The shortest bed is 74" so you have an inch of extra room after the upholstery is factored in. However there has been a few serious recalls …Iowa-based RV manufacturer Winnebago has issued a recall that applies to over 6,500 camper vans built between the 2020 and 2023 model years. The campaign includes three models called Travato, Solis, and Ekko, respectively, and aims to fix a fuel leak that can cause a fire. We traveled in a Storyteller Stealth for a week in Oregon and it was pretty solid. The electrical system is top notch even though they could add a bit more solar to the roof but we never had an issue boondocking the entire time. The exterior upgrades are awesome too.
We’re not really a fan of the side sleeping with cabinets above your head in the flare space. Nothing is worse than crawling over your partner to use the toilet in the middle of the night! 😅
At that price it may make more sense to go with an up-fitter and do a custom build. Problem with custom builds though is financing so unless ya got the cash, the storyteller might be the best adventure rig available if you want some off-road camper with financing available

Yes support Bob, Im 6’3” and I fit just fine and sleep great in our STO, just hate to say it that stock mattress needs to be replaced…! And if you think your too big for it you must feel as giants in your current van lol. STO has see thru pricing so a ‘24 stealth is 199,743 so that dealership pricing over 297,185k with 105k knocked off seems like something’s off, again STO has on their own site they list a ‘24 stealth at 199,743 the ‘24 🎉 beast is listed at 232,586 so hows the list price for that stealth higher than a beast? A ‘23 stealth was 188,941 and that took in account the 12k manufacture rebate. ‘23 beast was 221,408…
So maybe their so called list price is the MSRP which is irrelevant And if thats it they’re playing some creative math/numbers to make folks think they’re giving a discount and yet still selling at the set STO price. There was a price adjustment aka: manufacture rebate, not long ago thru STO but from my knowledge their see thru pricing is still set and all dealerships are set to those prices..
Now back to supporting Bob you know he’d love a STO, and you cant take it with you so enjoy it now… 😊
Love your couples choice as well, and its price is easier on the pocket book thats for sure. In the end each person has their own idea of the perfect rig and what things they must have and what they are willing to do with out, in the end long as folks get out and enjoy the road/nature and creates the memories thats all that counts…

I have the 2021 Thor Scope and have had some issues nothing really maor, a roof vent leak which was repaired and a water pump that went out. The water pump going out wasnt a THOR issue as it was just a bad pump from the manufacturer. I have repaired and upgraded my van to what I wanted and everywhere I travel to people stop me and ask about it and want to tour it. The guys (and I am a senior retired female) all say I have outfitted my van well and compliment me on it. I have had travel trailers, Keystone and R-Pods and they have all had issues too. The Keystone Passport was a 2020 24ft trailer and I didn't notice until I did was a water leak coming from under a cabinet, the dealer did everything they could including keeping it under something and spraying constant water on it and did not find the leak. Then when we had a bad rain storm and they had it parked in the back lot the tech went out to it days later and discovered a huge puddle, it was leaking from the rv door. They pulled the lino up and the cloor was completely rotted and moldy. Keystone offered me a brand new 2021 w/o any hassles. The moral of the story is ALL rv's have issues no matter what year and what brand some are built reall y good and then they mess up on some. Everything is repairable!! I wouldn't buy the Storyteller, way too much, just make the van you have yours and be happy!

Forgive me, but they could discount that van another $100 grand and I STILL wouldn't pay $91k for it. I've never understood why camper vans are priced so high when one can buy a larger RV and a truck to pull it for tens of thousands of dollars less and many times, hundreds of thousands of dollars less.

  • @Erica_Brenda

So the bottom line is you can mark something up to any price and it is just an inflated price so it looks like you are getting a deal but it us very likely they will still make a profit of 100,000 or more. But, I just cannot believe you would consider buying another Thor product. FACE PALM

there is no such thing as a B+ If it's the front of the van and a built a complete build of the back end it's a Class C. If it's the complete body of a van then it's a B. The dealers were trying to sell us a class B+ it is a C. The B is build with more insulation more durable and good for year round. If there was actually a B+ they would charge you for it more than a B if it's a C then you'll pay less like they are. The manufacturers will tell you there is no such thing as a B+

I think I will have to do a custom build because my #1 requirement is having a hydraulic bed. This way, I can have a comfortable bed and also have a comfortable seating area big enough to entertain guests. I'm surprised that these big companies haven't caught on to the hydraulic beds. It's the most space-saving thing you can do.
My #2 requirement is having a real bathroom with a dry flush toilet. That's the other thing that surprises me. I don't know why anyone would choose any other toilet. If I had to have a wet bathroom, then I want the toilet to slide in and out of the room. I don't want to have to pick it up and put it in the middle of the van. I just want it to slide in and out of the wall in the bathroom.
My #3 isn't really a requirement, it's something I figure I will just have to add myself. I want the front cab blocked off. This helps with temperature and privacy, but it also makes your van look like a home. I would want a pocket door for easy access to the cab.
Finally, I would be really happy if my van ended up having a full-size pantry drawer with a bottom shelf that is tall enough to hold wine bottles.
I don't think I will find a mass-produced van with my 3 requirements. I don't know if this means I should just buy a van and start from scratch, or if it would be more cost-effective to buy one of these and have it modified. I always feel a little guilty about changing or replacing something brand new. The last house we bought had about 3,000 square feet of brand new carpet that we ripped out the day we got the keys to the house.
