    How come this guy is not famous?! This guy is a legend......Someone should make one of his caves a Museum or at least make a whole center that teaches about his art and style so people can appreciate more what his doing............The thing his doing is beyond money.......Really they should give more intention to him cause the world need to know about his amazing art.

      +Rc Enhancer we only recognise brilliance once it's creator has gone. it's a human failing. but this man creates wonders. I have a feeling thats all he really cares about. that is all the great people really ever care about

      You're right, what he's doing goes well beyond money.
      As things should be if we lived in a society where people could freely find their passion without having to constantly worry about money.
      However, his stuff is definitely some amazing breath taking art.

      +Rc Enhancer He's not famous because he's not actively & continually promoting himself like most popular artists do. He's only been known because others have found out about him. It's all about the process of making his art & the wonder it creates inside of himself. He talks about it in the video. Not everyone is concerned with making money or being well known.

    • @dokidokiDoro

      Yes... yes they would, and then they would put that child on ritalin, tell their parents they will grow up to be a menace. Call them violent when they protect themselves from bullies, and send them to a special school for children to learn to not hit children and all come out of that school to be murders anyway.
      Yes. yes they would.

      @@dokidokiDoro I would hate to be a child these days. I remember getting in a fight at the playground in the early 90s. The neighborhood moms broke it up and talked to everyone and then we continued to play stick ball. Now the cops would be called, charges would be filed and people would get sued. The kids would never be aloud to play with each other again. If you want kids to learn to take care of themselves then you gota let them take care of themselves.

    This is absolutely beautiful! This a man doing what makes him happy rather than chasing status, fame and money. Like so many other young people, I'm in a situation where I can choose between doing what I love and doing "what's best for me". It is important in this capitalistic world of ours, to be reminded that there is still possible to do what makes you happy instead of what gives you the most profit and wealth. Money can't really buy you any happiness.

      I would love that Paulette's caves be kept a public landmark/ preservation. Artist major issue is learning how to take responsibility of a gift and knowing who to share it with and how to share the gift. In an artist point of view the art of expression is free, and just as it is free art, they can freely give it off to whoever comes first to knock on their door..and it's usually the most selfish greedy takers. This is a repetitive historic pattern among great artist. Many great artist have died poor. Paulette is well off, and maybe he needs someone to convince him to change his caves to be a public landmark preservation or a place where tourists can give suggested donations that would go directly to a State park preservation.

    WHY does it have to be an 'environmental project'? Why can't it just be cool? Or beautiful? Or incredible? Or awesome and wonderful?
    But no. It's got to somehow 'raise awareness' of... something.
    It's alright just to love to do something and it's alright to appreciate art - for the sake of art. It doesn't have to mean anything other than, 'this is really nice'. Art doesn't have to have a 'cause'.
    Just dig, dude. I can dig it.

    • @drummerforpeace

      Why can't it be an environmental project? Here is a man interacting with the environment in which he lives, taking great joy in the natural beauty that surrounds him, and to me that is incredible. Can't we let the artist project his own interpretation and enjoy it for what it is instead of trying to change it and put it in terms we feel comfortable with? He wants people to recognize the beauty that we can found in our natural environments, and I, for one, appreciate that intention immensely. Have a great day dude.

      +torchiest I don't see any aspects of him patronizing him. What did he say that makes it sound like that (time stamp) ?

    • @moogle68
      @moogle68 9 років тому +5

      +MrSlowestD16 At the start he straight up calls him a "man obsessed" despite being corrected by the guy almost immediately after that. Saying that he "He sees himself as a 'magician' playing with space both big, and small." may not be patronizing, but it was a poor choice of words imo. I highly doubt that the guy used the word "magician" when describing himself. Overall the reporter did do a good job. I would have liked to hear a bit more about how the guy feels about the realtor selling his work for so much despite only wanting to be paid $12/hour.

    • @sharonannemail
      @sharonannemail 10 років тому +11

      I agree, why couldn't this reporter come up any questions, as to why he's being cheated out of ANY that under of a million dollar sale? Or at least go to some other sources for the information. If you ask me, it just sounds like poor journalism. I've never heard of such a thing before, it's this man's life's work and art after all. It's not right.

      Sharon Anne Hill Yes, the guys are selling caves they paid Ra to make them. But without them the caves did not exist. They believed in him. Without them taking the risk to pay him a salary and give him the resources, he would never been able to do this.
