  • A short interview with frequently asked questions about Shaolin Kung Fu, his philosophy and art. Shi Heng Yi (释恒義) is the headmaster from the Shaolin Temple Europe (歐洲少林寺) located in Otterberg (Kaiserslautern) / Germany.

    • @AD-kv9kj
      @AD-kv9kj 4 роки тому +10

      @@easybreezy8904 And by "teaching everything about that" it really means teaching nothing about it. Any truly wise person will not go out preaching nor will they ever claim to have anything to teach you. Jiddu was constantly, from childhood even, pestered by those around him to be a "spiritual teacher", so he simply met with those people and basically told them to stop seeking others to tell them what to think and do regarding the profundity of their own lives and existence, because nobody can teach you that stuff and anybody who claims to is a con artist. He went from disbanding the theosophical society which tried to make him into their great teacher to going all over the world, meeting with groups who wanted to ask him questions and trying to kindly and carefully explain to them why they should not do this with anyone, nor accept any "spiritual authority" whatsoever.
      People like Krishnamurti only tried to point out to people who were already seeking something from various so-called spiritual practices, religions, philosophies and so on that nobody can teach them anything about themselves, that one has to stand completely alone and reject every so-called guru, teacher or religious authority and look at ones own actual behaviour, thoughts, reactions, life and relationships with others and with the world around us. That there is a huge difference between learning something practical such as mathematics or languages or geography or sciences etc and trying to learn "spirituality" or spiritual practices or how to be religious and so on. Also, that part of the reason everyone seeks authority is a combination of a long history of social conditioning of the human mind to rely on authorities as well as the fact that genuinely going into oneself for real is actually quite a disturbing process and people do not actually want to face themselves as they actually are - they want nice, romantic ideas about themselves and their lives, about romantic life after death beliefs like going to heaven or coming back even richer or better in some way or other. Instead, the reality is that every human being has to face themselves for what they really are, the plain facts, and face the reality of what we are all doing to this world and to others.. and we could just as easily be any one of those others from the violent, drug-addicted homeless guy on the street or the corrupt politician to one of the billions of poverty-stricken people in the world from India or China or Bolivia to a housing estate in London. Who you are in terms of body, mind, nationality or religion etc is meaningless and not important at all. What matters is what you do and how you approach life and others. Most so-called spiritual people, however, are just trying to find beliefs they can cling to which delude them into thinking they are special, that they can get lots of money and so on if they just think about everything they selfishly desire etc etc.

      @@AD-kv9kj I believe that if you practice spiritual practices you can become more spiritual. But I'm too stupid to invent them by myself so I am looking what other people do. The simple truth, it doesn't have to be correct in broader sense, it just have to be a thing I want to persue. It's okay even if I dont learn anything in the end, the goal is not there. I was just mesmerized by this persons level of control over himself. I think there might be some practices to better that ability

    I started to notice is "Shaolin" martial arts is about a little over a month ago. I am very surprised Sifu Shi Heng Yi not only masters in this Invincible Shaolin Kong Fu but also well versed in German and English. He certainly fully utilizes his time during his immersion(osmosis) in his monk years. Being a "Monk" gives you time to be able to "fully devoted" in practice and meditation, allowing you to avoid all the distractions from the secular world. This is true for all the professionals in any field. You need to be able to fully devoted in order to be on the top in this field. Sometimes I think being a monk/nun is really fortunate/blissful. They can bypass all the unnecessary sadness, greed and evils in this world and straight to the final destination of our life - peace, well-being, being united with your inner self and nature/universe. Further, in Today's chaotic world, Sifu can step into the secular world (instead of hiding in the deep mountains), teaching people Shaolin but live in secluded private.life. It's the best of the best living but it's hard to balance between this two. Wish him the Best

Shaolin monks tread that fine line between Taoism and Buddhism, between action and non-action, but deep down following the old taoist alchemical process of becoming nature. It's another form of yoga and Qigong is my favourite form of yoga :) Greetings from Australia

    Resposta para a questão: Eu tenho tido um desenvolvimento pessoal bastante curioso. Eu sou calvo e me identifico sem cabelos com grande beleza pessoal. Sou apaixonado por filmes de Kung Fu desde que era criança quando assitia filmes com meu pai na Zona rural, onde minha família morava. Sempre pensei que fosse uma ficção, fiz yoga e acroyoga como brincadeira na academia, recentemente passei por um processo de desenvolvimento interno com meu eu em um curso de Reiki nível 1 e 2, quando encontrei com a prática do Tai Chi e Qui Gong em tutoriais um encantamento que meche com meu intimo e traz sentido. Ainda não sou maduro para dizer o que é ou o que me atrai, sei que pretendo aprender e ser, a ser e fazer a beleza em mim daquilo que vejo e sinto nos meus sentidos ao observar nos movimentos do Kung Fu uma magia, encantamento, esplendor. Ainda não tenho uma prática que me defina como iniciante ou algo assim, tenho a admiração e vontade de por em prática o quanto ante. Já tenho 32 anos de idade e tenho ocupações mentais que me distraem as vezes, mas vejo a possível hora em que eu possa me entregar ao habito da prática do Kung Fu e viver o que antes era ficção uma realidade, não para luta, mas como defesa pessoal de mim para mim mesmo e propósito de saúde física. Ainda não sou bom no inglês, vejo a expressão de Shi Heng Yi como uma grande beleza para mim desde a prática dos movimentos até a didática de comunicação e saber. Academicamente eu sou um estudante de linguagens e a filosofia da vida em meu encantamento atual inspirado em algo que não sei de onde vem, mas aquece meu ser. É um tanto complexo e difícil não fazer parte de uma cultura e ter uma enorme atração por ela e não nada quando se quer me identifico em totalidade com a minha cultura ecleticamente brasileira e nordestina, mas sou as raízes de onde estou pela carga de aprendizado imerso nela. É pouco provável que alguém leia este comentário/resposta e entenda o que quero propor como In Lak’eck Ala K’in, em que cada ação que empreendemos é por respeito para com toda a vida. E no Kung Fu eu tenho esse olhar e sentimento. Talvez eu esteja apenas falando muito, o que de fato é, mas o sentido de falar é maior do que qualquer palavra ou construção de sentido que a fala representa. Bom, não sei se isso é uma resposta, mas foi como minha intuição promoveu como uptake da questão para resposta / ação reação.

    So wise for one so young. I hope the Shaolin are able to expand their temples throughout the world. We might have more of a chance for peace on earth then. Shaolin Buddhism's practice is too strenuous for most, but Tai Chi and some of the softer forms most people can practice. This monk makes more sense than most of the priests I have listened too. Very graceful in movement, as are all of the Shaolin.

    Master Shi Heng Yi, could you explain how does Shaolin kung fu help one discovers/recovers his true self, the Buddha nature ?

    • @ShaolinTempleEurope
      @ShaolinTempleEurope  7 років тому +17

      satnamo Amituofo dear friend, no "Buddha Nature" or any type of sustainable insight has ever been revealed or achieved without practice. They key and simple instructions to live a balanced life in harmony is well known as the noble eightfold path. Amongst this path meditation and the right effort are only 2, but nevertheless important guides to entering the path to Buddhahood or simply named peace. Peace within yourself, Peace amongst others. A simple and peaceful life. The martial aspects, known as Wu within Shaolin is an instrument which raises self-awareness, self-responsibility, self-discipline and ultimately self-love and compassion for others. Heart, Mind, Spirit combined without any division amongst them. This is a step towards peace, far beyond from conflict and suffering. Amituofo 🙏 - Shi Heng Yi

      Thank you so much Master Shi Heng Yi for your great and comprehensive advice. I'm willing to practice to attain a simple, balance and peaceful life. Is there certain Shaolin kung fu form that is especially conducive for combining Heart, Mind and Spirit Master Shi Heng Yi ?

      XinYiBa is only a term. All forms are formless 🙏 so each movement can contain any form.

    • @satnamo
      @satnamo 7 років тому +4

      All forms are formless
      This is too profound for me to comprehend so i wonder how can one transform Shaolin 13 Luohan Rou Quan into a formless form so that each movement contain every form Master Shi Heng Yi

    • @ShaolinTempleEurope
      @ShaolinTempleEurope  7 років тому +14

      Amituofo dear friend, I'm glad for this conversation.
      "Forms are formless":
      Imagine you practice any form, any routine or any movements that are consecutive. It's a posture containing leg position and arm position.
      But do we want to repeat a book which is written already, or grasp the core wisdom / message of the book?
      Chan Wu is Shaolin Kung Fu as an expression of Chan.
      What is Chan? It is everything and nothing. It is form and formless.
      In the moment when a form becomes everything. The form has no value anymore. It simply was a part / road amongst many others existing in this world. The form was an expression of Chan.
      Lot's of theory and ideas. Where is the practice? How can a form become everything?
      Perfection comes from repetition. There is no other way.
      When there is no doubt about the ability and skills. When you let go of any idea and follow the movement and expression.
      XinYiBa is a word... and formless. Heart-Mind-Power combined. Human-Spirit-Potential combined.
      And why is XinYiBa so powerful?
      Because it is peaceful.
      Amituofo 🙏

    I've been studying the spiritual way of Shaolin and martial arts for many years. And until few years ago, every single word in this video would be true for me.
    But after travelling in some countries as a medic, I just wonder how the Shaolin way should help all those people who are struggling with poverty, famine, or bombing in their daily life. I still try to figure out.
    No offense, but I think it's easy to answer to those questions to people who are living in a comfortable 'European' (Occidental) life, where life is commonly 'regular'.

Been practising for over 13 years and I know I should be at a higher level considering the amount of years practising. I feel limitationsd for furthering my knowledge and training here. However I WILL plan a retreat (once this Pandemic settles), watch, absorb & learn from true essence just like this amazing leading Master Shi Heng Yi. It's mesmerizing watching him move. Always drawn to this way of life yet born & brought up in the Western World I do my best.
