  • Installing a hose reel so it won't fall off! Got tired of moving my air hoses around so picked up an inexpensive air hose reel to fix the issue.

Jeff is 2/2 for content I needed to see over the last few weeks as I work on home improvement projects. A new peg board set up for my garage and now a hose reel installation using the exact product I purchased today!

Great video. You are very personable. I feel like you seem to be having a conversation with the viewer rather than the camera, so no need to change a thing. I'm off to Harbor Freight to get a reel. Thanks!

Thanks for the video, I’ve bin thinking about putting one of these on the outside of a service truck. Do you think it would old up to the wether or just I just get a more expensive one?

Biggest question is your climate. Everyone has these on their trucks here in AZ, even in areas that get snow. I'd try to keep it out of the salt but we used them inside boxes on service trucks in Minnesota. I wouldn't use a more expensive one myself.

I need to drill this into 3/4 plywood, any recommendations on what to use. Nice video!

If It's open on the back side of the plywood I'd use a 1/2" x 1" lag bolt. If you use a stout washer you'll get great grip without going thru too far, pretty close to 1/8". Thank you!

thanks for the video found it helpful, I have been thinking about using a reel like this and converting it to a water hose to use for a pressure washer....i think the ceiling idea is better, but was wondering how many screws did you use to mount the board to the joist, i think i saw 6 ?

Yes, but depends on what your weight and your application. Pressure washer hose is slightly heavier plus add water weight and hammer. If I were using this for water I would use lag bolts with all holes predrilled and fender washers on the lags holding the board up to the joist. if I were using it often I'd put a 2x6 crossmember laid flat between 2 joists and bolt it with through bolts. Water hammer will pound it out if you give it a chance.

@@JustDoingMyStuff thank you for the feedback i will look into using lag bolts to mount the board to the joist, this will be for personal use at home for pressure washer setup i doubt i will be yanking on the reel more than a couple of times a month

Great video, how has it held up over the last 3 months? How often do you use it? I need one bad and they have it on sale right now for 70 bucks.

It's held up great. I only use this one a few times a week but my last one held up to years of shop use and was still in great shape when I left it for the next people that used that shop. I do recommend it. Too bad HF doesn't sponsor me!

Good technique with the predrilled shorty lags. Makes me think I can put one up by myself too!

@@JustDoingMyStuffYour video was inspirational and I did the exact same thing with the Merlin. Worked great and I was able to put it up solo last night. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

My pleasure, glad you did it, amazing what we can do if we just do it instead of talking ourselves out of it.
