I used a rubber mallet to hammer the servo arm onto the new servo. It worked good!! Thanks PR. I'm excited to crawl with it now!! Great upgrade!! Thanks for your help.

I believe the splines on the factory servo horn are correct, but they are cast too shallow in the recessed portion. I was able to get mine on by working it on and off many times, and using a utility blade to clean out the splines each time as I went. It will now slide on and off without prying or excessive force. Using a vise will potentially damage the servo as well as make it impossible to remove in the future. You can see each time where a bit of material is removed away when you try to install it. Once that was addressed I used 3x5mm standoffs to raise the servo, and then Team Associated servo washers to keep the servo nicely centered without any motion at the ears. Without the spacers, the servo sits much lower than the stock servo, which throws off the steering geometry and can reduce available uptravel. You might consider updating to note those items.

Nice video. I did the same install. Had the same issue with the horn and short wire. I ended up pulling off the receiver and moving it a little bit closer to the cable exit to give the servo wire some more slack.

Very nice work on the servo replacement and video! Now she's ready for more crawling and brawling! Thumbs up! Best regards!

Ive had my SCX6 for about 3 weeks now and only just ran it the second time today. First battery pack, rolled it down a hill when it lost its balance and killed the servo. I have experience with that servo and they have extended wire leads for different applications. I run my current one in a Losi 5ive T and it does just fine in it. I'm on the fence with this servo as i dont feel like the SCX6 is worth a $224 servo upgrade. I know the servo will last a long time but that is nearly a quarter the cost of the RC itself. I might just buy the same servo i run in my Super Rock Rey but that one doesnt have to turn the wheels on rocks when the tire is wedged up. The Hobbystar i run in my SRR is 998 ounce inches at 8.4 volts and it is surprisingly accurate on that rating. The Hobbystar is $59 vs the Spektrum at $224. Hard pick.

I just ordered a SCX6 since it was on such a good sale. It is distressing that rolling down the hill once killed the servo. Unlucky hit on a wheel during the roll? I agree that the videos showing super expensive servos (to me) going into this RC don't make sense. A 10amp BEC for the servo may be my only servo upgrade.

@@TheZX11 Probably an unlucky hit. It is 24/25 pounds.

@@SebastianLong Yep unlucky. My SCX6 Jeep arrived. Drive train has a slight clicking sound. I took apart the transmission and added marine grease. It was pretty empty. It is easy (and fun) to fill if you take off the shifting servo and remove that side of the transmission. Gears were perfect. It still clicks a bit so I will check the diffs, even if sound doesn't seem to come from there, and fill them. Maybe something clicking in the universal joints of the drive shaft? Still a fun car. As King Leonidas said to his RC crawler club, "Spartans, prepare for glory!"

@@How_To_SAVE_YOURSELF_Guru It is still sitting on the shelf with the bad servo. I was gonna order the Hobbystar yesterday, but honestly wont use my SCX6 much to have done so, so i blew it off till it gets warmer again.

not sure if you have since this video but you really need to brace the panhard mounts on this rig and run a BEC so you can take advantage of that servo at 8.4 volts.

That servo is a beast to go in that beast. Nice walk through video Ryan! I wondered if the teeth count was wrong on the arm. This makes a great companion to the creek video! Can't wait to see the next one!

Best thing now is chance or reinforce the plastic ball-end cap on the panhard bar that goes to the chassis..this is the off- set one and is to weak...even for the standard servo...so the new servo wil break it and you don't want to haul this heavy truck by hand.

How pathetic is it that we spend a grand on a dog on rc and they can't even put a servo that's worth a damn!?! They just plan on everyone buying servos and other upgrades I guess... pretty smart on one hand but pisses me off on the other.

That servo is trash. For that amount of money get a NSDRC . Direct powered and blows that POS out
