  • All electronics installed in the Kraton 8s exb. Did some small testing with the Spektrum 1/5 high speed servo. Unable to use it to it's full potential since the Futaba receiver can't handle above 7.4 volts and the S9110 can handle 8.4V.

    companies need to start offering more receivers that least take 10v

      That would suck, that’s a huge loss and you’d see faster battery drain that way

      @bryanmiller476 I'm talking about the receiver so you can run a more powerful servo or fans off it

    The combo I originally wanted to use in my 8s outcast 😭😭. It was just never meant to be. That servo looks absolutely beastly, if I ever need to upgrade from my PowerHD 65KG servo, that's going to be the one.

      Do you have any problems with the powerHd 65k ?? Do you need glitch buster for that servo?

    I run 8.4v on my Traxxas 6533 receiver, 2 of my 5th scales have them I love the Bluetooth easiness of fine tuning the travel of the servos. It’s been months and haven’t had one problem.
    Also have a Xmaxx with 7.4v on a 6533 from a Max 6. I also use a traxxas 6 cell NiMH and wait till it settles to 8.4v or lower to install for the traxxas Transmitter, no more wasting double A batteries.

    When I switch on my r/c kraton, my servo does nothing. I also have a flashing green light on the transmitter and beeps. Unsure, still new / pending backorder on new servo. Love the truck! Unsure what's causing it nit too calibrate. Have not really played with it since my purchase. 3 runs....just bad luck I guess.

    Great build! The financial situation has a big impact on the hobby around where I am. I used to be able to pick up used Arrmas and traxxas, have my fun and sell them on without making a loss, but now RC cars is a hard sell without taking a big loss, I guess its what happens with massive inflations. Not sure if it makes financial sense for me to drop this much money on an Arrma build anymore.
    Also kinda sucks that Arrma only uses 10.9 screws on these 8s rigs, mine strip real easy and they always gets stuck on the hex drivers.

    Can’t wait to see this in action! That servo is pretty good but man is it pricy 😂 Good point about the Futaba receivers. Maybe just use Spektrum for the 1/5 scales 🤷‍♂️

    Assuming Futaba intends for their receivers to be connected directly to a 2S receiver pack in a gas/nitro car, I’d shove 8.4v into that receiver and send it.

      The website shows 6 volt max? I know the clone receivers operate higher. The only Futaba I know of that operates at 8.4 is the antennaless one. For indoor racing.

      My apologies bro. Amain hobbies web sites says 8.4, they lied to me 😂. But I did look at the manual for the r304sb and and it does say usable voltage is 3.5 to 8.4v

    Fun fact about rc world. If the reciver says 7.4V its reffering to nominal 2S lipo voltage while in reality these recivers are capable of 8.4 as fully charged lipo battery is 8.4 so you can use it in your petrol or nitro as reciver pack. Good brands like futaba or sanwa are also overbuilt and can handle a bit over that, tho i wouldnt recommend going past 8.4. 6V recivers are a smymilar stroy as they are tuned for nimh 6s that when fully charged pack 7.5V but due to nimh not beeing very efficient there is huge voltage sag under any load and it drops to around 6.6V. So to sum it up if the reciver is 7.4V rated its capable of handling fully charged lipo meaning 8.4V while 6V recivers are a bit less durable and you shouldnt go above 6.6V with these(LIFE PACKS ARE ON BORDERLINE!).

    • @JasonPerrinRCVlogs
      @JasonPerrinRCVlogs  2 роки тому +1

      That makes sense. A 2s fully charged lipo would be 8.4V. So if you were running a receiver only that would be 8.4v in. So it makes me wonder why they show operating voltage from 4.8V-7.4V?

    • @Ev0ltion
      @Ev0ltion 2 роки тому +1

      @@JasonPerrinRCVlogs it comes from the nominal voltages of certain cells 4.8 is nominal for 4s nimh, 7,4 is nominal for 2s lipo. Its kinda legacy thing from days of nitro when you were plugging your battery directly into reciver and for convinience they marked nominal battery voltage. Another fun fact about 8.4v servos is that any servo marked for 7.4 can do 8.4v. while not every servo marked for 8.4 can exceed it. Its basicly marketing, all these servos are rated for 2s lipo some just tell you spec with full charged battery (8.4) and some do for nominal voltage(7.4).

    • @Ev0ltion
      @Ev0ltion 2 роки тому

      Hope i helped and made you feel a bit more confident about not burning your reciver. There usually is some voltage sag but i tested my sanwa recivers with lab power supply and they are perfectly fine running 8.4v and can easily pull through over 10A for my 123kg twin servo steering in dbxle.

    This is one of the reasons I run Spektrum. Futaba is overpriced.
